I think not doing a big FB announcement might surprise a few people, being as when we got one of our rabbits last year one of my friends asked why I hadn't announced that on there or put up any photos!! So I'm glad I'm not the only one :rotfl:
a couple of weeks ago, an old friend of mine announced on Facebook she was pregnant at (I think) 7 weeks!!!!!!
A lot of people I know put some kind of announcement up at some point but a few (mostly cousins) haven't written anything.
I don't get this, put everything about your life on the internet. Its all a bit attention seeky for my liking!0 -

We have told OH's Mum, Sister, Brother in Law and Brother because they were visiting form overseas when we found out and we thought it was nice to be able to tell them face to face. All are sworn to secrecy.
I also told my bosses as I actually only started the job a couple of months ago and was stressing sooo much they would sack me that I decided to tell them and get it over with so they can decide what to do. So far, I am still in my job! (fingers crossed on that one)
I am seriously dreading telling my mother so am saving that one for after the 12 week scan!!! eeek!
After that, we will tell people as and when we see them/speak to them and let the word spread ha ha0 -
I'm 7 weeks today, have told my boss, who I'm pretty close to, 1 friend I work with & that's it. We have a private scan tomorrow so as long as all is well with that we're going to tell both sets of parents & siblings over the weekend. So excited to be able to tell my parents as they know about my PCOS & potential issues we could have, haven't spoken to them about the treatment we had tho.
Quite nervous about tomorrow, I just so hope everything is ok! Did yet another test today, only IC ones so not costing me a fortune, but the test line is stonking positive even before it's reached the control line, I'm starting to think I'm actually pregnant! Scan isn't till 5.30 so will have all day to wait too & then I have my 1st appt with the midwife on Friday.0 -
I told my parents, as I was staying with them for a week, and it would have been way too obvious if I wasn't drinking. We went to a huge family party, and my dad was a huge help giving me non alcoholic drinks that looked like alcohol!
BIL also knows as he was stood behind me in the doctors surgery when the receptionist announced they had no MW appointments for a month.
Oh, and I told my two best mates, because if anything did go wrong, then they'd be wonderfully supportive.
Everyone else can wait until I've had a scan.
I've given up waiting for the dating scan that I was supposed to have, so am just going to carry on life as normal until I see a midwife and get the normal 12 week one, at which point I might be 16 weeks, but whatever!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Hi everyone!
lulu - my earliest symptom was actually increased sensitivity to smells (although I didn't know I was pg at the time!) and then tender boobs.
Tilly - so glad you had a good scan
Pington - glad you had a good midwife session and hope the scan referral gets processed soon (I think that's what's happening is it?!!!)
Milly - Even though I'm only 5.5 weeks I told the nurses at work last week (I'm the secretary!) I was feeling so rough in the morning and am usually in work by 8.15am so it was going to be obvious. They are all lovely and are used to dealing with confidential things anyway so it's actually a big relief and they're being really sympathetic - haven't told my boss yet though (she's in a different building so I don't see her much!)
My mum knows - we saw her this last weekend as it was her birthday and she used to be a GP (now retired) so she would have guessed if we hadn't told her.
I'm not bothered about telling OH's family so we'll probably leave them until after 12weeks. We'd only have to tell his dad and everyone will know :rotfl:
I have two brothers who are both married with kids and one SIL I'm really close to (we're like sisters) and I want to tell her - she's just had a baby! But kind of think I should then probably tell my other brother...
Princess Kate, fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow.
Sorry if I've missed anyone out - but at least I can blame baby-brain!!!!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

I've noticed I can smell things more! OH opened a beer and I could smell it on the other side of the room and it made me feel sick! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I never realized private scans were so popular. Ive read on this forum that quite a few of you have done one. It had never crossed my mind. I didn't know it was so easy if your not going private. Is it expensive?0 -
It looks like quote a few of you have told a small handful of people before your 12 weeks/scan. I do wonder if I will hold out another 6 weeks or just blurt it out to someone at some point.0

I think it's about £80 to £120 depending on where you go.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
