  • It's interesting to see that you both had earlier scans before the 12 week - is that just down to where you live, past history or is that standard practice? Good luck to you both for your 12 week scans!

Ours was simply because we were unsure of the dates. If we went by lmp then I could have been up to 4weeks ahead of what the cb digi said so my midwife just booked us in so we could be more sure.
We feel quite lucky that we'll get to see how much difference the 3 weeks makes. I think our area usually scans from 12 weeks as I assume is the norm.
After our scan Thursday the next one will be at 20 weeks and I won't see the midwife again until just after that.
I'm getting nervous about Thursday, I've no reason to be but I'm worrying something won't be right. All this worry already and this is just the start of the journey!

missymoo - if you are interested get emily Oster's what to expect book re pg. As I recall (but please do check this) alcohol at your stage is unlikely to hurt your baby as they are simply too small to absorb any alcohol/not even in a position in your body to absorb.

Welcome to the guilt. It has been my new, steady friend. FYI on the big girl's thread we the overwhelming majority have NOT enjoyed pg, that includes those with easy or bumpy journeys to both pg itself and the actual pg. Hormonal lunancy, sleeping at 8pm, stretches, strains, worry, guilt, tummy problems and that's just normal let alone anyone with other symptoms. We're all mostly in it for the end result and found the journey harder than we expected. Not to bring you down any of you but just to let you know if you find it tough you are not alone. EVERYONE says it's worth it in the end :D plus moments like scans, hearing the heartbeat and movements are awesome. Keep me going.

  • Hello ladies, I'm dipping my toe in after getting my BFP on saturday, and several times since, my addiction to POAS doesn't seem to want to go! It came as a bit of a surprise as I've been having clomid treatment privately & didn't think I'd ovulated, no positive ov test as other months so I only did a pg test to check it was negative to start taking norethestrone to bring on my period! 7 positive tests later it's starting to sink in a bit! I'm nearly 5 weeks, have a private scan booked at 7 weeks, I think this is going to be the longest 2 week wait of my life!

I really happy & really excited but trying to hold all my emotions in as I just can't stop worrying about something happening. My hubby has tried to reassure me but its just so scary, I think i'll feel better after the scan on the 21st after seeing something. I did another test this evening & it's much darker than the ones from saturday.

I've been feeling a bit sick, a bit off my food and have been having kind of cramps, like AF is going to show up. That doesn't help my worrying!

Nice to see you over here Missymoo!
  • Can I be added to the list too please.

    EDD 8th April 2015, 7 week scan 21/8/14

Thank you to Mrs_T_M, Nicky Noo na and Tilly_dreams for your comments; I think I will look into contacting the hosptital and check all will be OK for scan dates.

My experience seems different to others on here; I phoned my doctor's surgery after doing a positive test (OK, seven positive tests :rotfl:) to ask when I should make an appointment. They said I didn't need one, just to fill out a form to register with the midwife.

The midwife called me and arranged the appointment for 20th August (when I will be around 11.5 weeks); they said that was the earliest they had. And that's the last I've heard, other than an information leaflet through the post. It's all very confusing when everything is new!

Can I be added to the list please? I believe my due date is March 8th 2015 :j

Just an FYI for anyone who may be interested, Savers has Seven Seas prenatals 28 pack (4 week supply) for £2.99 (cheapest I've found elsewhere is £4.99), 10ml bottles of tea tree oil for £1 (it's real, I checked!), and bump oil (kinda like bio oil by the looks of it, was beside of the bio oil in my store) for £1 for 100ml, and Mum&Me stuff for £1-£1.49, full size bottles. Everything is well within date too! Might be worth checking out if there is one in your area. Plus they have Haribo Minions!

The Mum&Me stuff seems to only be on sale until the 23rd of August btw.

Estateprincess sorry to hear about your sad family news and I hope you feel better soon. Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

Princess kate welcome to the thread and congratulations. Hope your scan goes well in a couple of weeks! :)

Regarding the process of booking in, I haven't seen a GP yet and apparently won't do so unless there's something wrong. I called the surgery and was just told to come in and fill in a form and pick up a Bounty pack (which mostly contained useless marketing stuff apart from the midwife's contact details and info about screening tests) and then the midwife has done everything since.

It's time for me to graduate from this thread as I had my scan today and everything looks good, heartbeat fine and baby kicking away :j :j I measured 12+6 so instead of my due date being put back like I thought it would be they brought it forward to 12 Feb.

Just a little tip, if you have had any morning sickness at all, don't drink too much at once beforehand if you've been told you need a full bladder. Try and space it out a little. Otherwise you might do what I did this morning and stuff myself with water only to throw it up all over myself  :rotfl:

Good luck with all your scans and hope to see you on the other thread soon :)
  • Ooh more newbies!! Glad this thread is getting busier!! Welcome ladies, hope you all have an uneventful easy 8ish months!!

Estateprincess, my midwife doesn't see me till 10 weeks at the earliest and then (hopefully!) books in a scan for 2 weeks after so I kinda feel in limbo until I see her.

Tilly_dreams, keeping my fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow, hope all is ok.

Mrs T_M love the obligatory chocolate!! Thanks for the bargain heads up!!

As for me, still tired, moody and emotional!! Ds played up something chronic yesterday ruining my birthday and making me wonder why I'm doing it all over again. And oh my good god do my b00bs\nips HURT!!

The minions are gummy sweets, not chocolate (if I've missed something, sorry! - highly probable with my horrid baby brain!)

My boobs ache horribly as well, in a bra, just taken the bra off, going without, when I wake up in the morning, all of the time! Bought a little get cool pack at poundland to see how it holds up so that I can put it on my boobs when they hurt. They only had one little owl one, so that's why I only bought one.

Also, happy (albeit late) birthday Always!
