Morning ladies! Nothing here really to report except that my feet are swelled and I was sick last night from exhaustion. I've already started strip washing my cloth nappies! 11 out on the line along with inserts, and another 10 plus inserts to wash. I finally get to start doing my weekly writings in my bump to birthday baby book! I'm 10 weeks today! Yipee! :j0

Hi to everyone new :-)
I've now got the date for my first midwife apppintment; it's not until 20th August, by which point I will be almost 12 weeks. Is it normal for the first appointment to be this late? I'm guessing they'll have to book my scan in pretty sharpish.0 -
Hi to everyone new :-)

I had my first midwife appointment a few days early, in the middle of my 7th week. Around here booking appointments are between 8 and 10 weeks, which gives the hospital 2 weeks (if needed) to make the appointment.
Also, welcome!

Hi ladies, how are we all feeling?
Congrats Danielley! We have the same due date :-)
Hi Mrs TM, could I be added to the lists too please? Edd 2nd April. No 12 week scan date yet but I have a six week scan next Thursday 7th August.
Stressful day yesterday! Long story but basically I have a chronic condition which is under control with meds but I have to have regular blood tests. Yesterday I got a letter to say the results of my most recent blood test showed my liver function test score is really high (which is not good!) so I rang the specialist nurse and when I told her I'm pregnant she said I have to stop my meds for two weeks then do another blood test because the raised liver function can mean I'm at increased risk of miscarriage. So that scared me a lot :-/
Then in the afternoon I went to my doctors to tell him everything and he has referred me for an early scan next Thursday to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. My consultant for my last pregnancy included in a letter that I should have an early scan so that seems to be my 'golden ticket'. He wouldn't refer me to the midwife yet though in case the worst happens :-/
So a bit of a roller coaster of a day - pleased to have a scan booked, but really worried about miscarriage now. In my mind next Thursday is the target now - if I can make it to that point and then see a tiny blob in the right place with a flickering heartbeat I'll be over the moon.
I already had a hospital appointment next Thursday with the genetics department to find out what more they can tell us about what happened to our son so that could be a crazy up-and-down day...
So with all this going on I think I've decided I'm going to tell my boss I'm pregnant on Monday, I'm worried I'm going to need some time off and/or be an emotional wreck so I think it's best to warn her! Thanks for your comments re lifting tea and cake or death but I guess once my boss knows that's one less thing to worry about.
Sorry this is a long one, I promise I won't be such a stress head all the time, just needed to get this out!
Hope you're all feeling well and positive xx0 -
Hi and congrats to all the newbies, hope you're all feeing ok so far.
Oh Tilly_dreams, I hope the nxt few days quickly for you. Keeping everything crossed that everything is ok and bean stays sticky. I would say as long as you're not in any pain or experiencing any bleeding you should be ok.
As for me, not much to report, finally have a booking in appointment at 10 weeks when a scan will be booked (hopefully). I've been so very moody and tired. Have been arguing with OH and losing my temper with ds far too muchhoping this isn't a flavour of what's to come over the coming months!!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend x0 -
Hi Tilly_dreams
I saw that we are due date twins! I hope that your 6 week scan is here quickly and is reassuring for you.
Hope everyone is ok0 -
Hello all - glad to see it getting a bit busier on here!
Carrot and Tilly - hope your beans are sticky ones and that we get to hear of good outcomes!
Danielley - congrats on your BFP after IVF - that must have been such wonderful news - hope your scan rolls around quickly for you so you can feel reassured.
Pington - booking in for me was at 8 weeks and it took almost 2 weeks to receivs a scan date for another 2 weeks ahead of that. Can you ring the maternity/ultrasound dept and self-refer so you know you will definately get a scan around week 12? I can't imagine less than a weeks notice being common practice - I need to give longer notice than that at work to get time off! They must get you in pretty sharpish though as if you want the nuchal testing it has to be done by 14 weeks......good luck!
Always Alone - I hope the moodiness eases for you soon. I'm suprised to have found that I've remained fairly level-headed so far, no moods or anger or crying or anything. Maybe it will kick in later for me?
Mrs TM - hope you are doing ok, you certainly seem organised! Thanks for setting up the lists.
As for me I'm finally feeling a lot better after my stomach problems and constant pain last week. Work was a bit of a struggle last week and I still felt a bit fragile until I woke up on Friday and felt well.....really well! No pain, no nausea, slept well etc - makes such a difference! I've cut out bread and tried to eat really healthily (bar the ice-cream!) and it seems ot have helped. I've had a lovely relaxing weekend so far apart from feeling really faint at the supermarket yesterday but I believe thats normal and felt fine after a sit down and some food. We've decided to go for it and book a nice holiday in September - I wasnt too sure about going away while pregnant but am hopeful that feeling better is a sign that the second trimester will run smoothly for me (we were supposed to go when I was 9 weeks but felt uneasy about going before a scan) and we've amended our itinerary so that there wont be as much walking as originally planned as I'm likely to get tired a bit easier (I'll be about 17-19 weeks while we are away). I've checked I'm covered on the travel insurance so just need took flights and choose a few hotels as we'll be travelling around a bit. Anyone else planning a get away before little one arrives?
My actual 12 week scan is on Friday and I'm really looking forward to it - all was fine at 10/11 weeks so hoping for good news! I think we've decided against the nuchal/Down's testing after much deliberation as I would not agree to an amnio and would not end the pregnancy although the reassurance if I was low risk would be nice but the midwife advised that you dont want an amnio not to bother incase it comes back high risk and you spend the rest of the pregnancy stressing. So much to consider!!
I also really need to get on the exercise wagon - I stopped running and aerobics about year ago due to injury and never really started anything in its place and then I've felt too rough until now to consider doing anything except work and sleep! All the aquanatal classes are at an inconvenient time for me so I might just to have to try swimming (although I dont particularly like it) or maybe buy a pregnancy yoga DVD to try?? Whats everyone else thinking re excerise while pregnant?
Oh and I've been looking in earnest for some maternity clothes now - I literally have 2 pairs of trousers I can still get into, trying ebay to get some cheap but doesnt seem much around! Hopefully some places will have a sale again soon....
Happy sunday everyone0 -
I'm doing quite well, but my ankles are still a bit swollen. My feet were cold last night, so when I propped them up on the wall for a few minutes before I went to bed last night I could feel the fluid going up my leg. Really weird sensation!
I'm really not that organised, I just like lists! The lists on the ttc thread seem to be my good luck charm too.0 -
Hello ladies! Well that’s Monday done, four days til the weekend and two days til my scan!
Mrs_T_M - Thanks for adding me to the lists! Sorry to hear about your swollen feet and sickness, but it doesn’t sound like it’s slowing you down!
Danielley – I like ‘due date twins’! Sounds like we’ve both had a rough time to get to this point so fingers crossed it’s smooth sailing for both of us for now on. I’d never heard of OHSS but I Googled it and it sounds pretty horrible. Hope you’re feeling better now. Re telling your GP – I’d tell them sooner rather than later as I think you need them to refer you to the midwife.
Pington – I think the booking in appointment in my area is 8 weeks too so almost 12 weeks is late. I think the ’12 week’ scan can be any point between 11 weeks and 14 weeks though so it’s not a big deal if it’s not exactly 12 weeks, just frustrating to wait! I’m sure they’ll get you in quickly if there’s any cause for concern so take it as a good sign!
Always_Alone – Thank you for your kind words. Time’s not going too slowly thankfully, I had a nice weekend with DH and work’s pretty busy so I’m ok. Two more full days to go! That’s a good point about not having any pain or bleeding, I’m actually feeling pretty well so I should take that as a good sign!
Nicky Noo Na – Thank you for your kind words too. I will update you all on Thursday hopefully!
Where are you thinking of going on holiday? I’d love a foreign holiday but after what’s happened to me in the past I wouldn’t go abroad while pregnant now. Sorry I don’t mean to put a downer on your plans, I just think I’m going to have/need a lot of medical appointments, but I’m probably the exception rather than the norm! We might go away in this country though, I’d be ok knowing I could go home/to my hospital if necessary.
I don’t blame you for opting out of the nuchal/Down’s, it’s one thing less to worry about and the huge chance is everything will be fine. I’m the kind of person who has to know everything I can so I can’t not do it. With my son the blood test was the first sign we had that everything wasn’t quite right. It’s a long story and I don’t want to scare you so I won’t share, but that blood test result will be a huge milestone for me in this pregnancy (assuming I get that far and hoping that I have a one in hundreds/thousands result this pregnancy!).
I’m not a big one for exercise so not much to say on that one! I managed a three mile walk on Sunday which I thought was pretty good going, but there was an ice cream involved about half way round! Planning a few more walks over the next few weeks all being well. I had thought about getting a pregnancy yoga DVD though so let me know how you get on if you do get one!
Next still have quite a lot of maternity clothes on their website so you could have a look there? I like their jeans
Looking at that list of users there’s four 12 week scans this week so busy week! Wishing you all lots of luck with your scans – hope they’re all really straight forward!
As for me, I’m doing pretty well considered. My tummy issues seem to be settling down – apparently that’s probably related to my liver so fingers crossed that means my liver score is going in the right direction. I felt a bit yucky this morning and thought it might be the start of morning sickness, but equally it might’ve been the Chinese takeaway I had last night!
I didn’t tell my boss today in the end, I’m feeling less worried so I didn’t want share yet. DH reckons I should maybe tell her after the six week scan. There’s a part of me that’s worried I won’t be able to go in to work on Friday, but I guess I can always call in sick if needs be
So there you go! Sorry this is a bit of an epic but I’m not sure I’ll get chance to get on again before Thursday. Take care of yourselves x0 -
