    Hi ladies.
I got my BFP on 19th july but I have hesitated in posting here as I had a MMC in may and didn't want to get too excited. Then on Thursday last week I started bleeding. I have been bleeding ever since and had some cramping. It has been an absolute horrible time and I had resolved myself to another loss.
This morning I have had an early scan due to the bleeding and am in shock. It appears that it is twins.
One is measuring 5weeks 5days (spot on) and the other is measuring 4weeks 5days.
The sonographer thinks that the bleeding and pain may be the smaller one trying to miscarry. She said it is the lower of the two so hopefully won't affect the other one but there is still a risk.
Has anyone heard of this before? And outcomes?
I am so glad that there is still hope (as I had given up all hope) but just worried about losing them both.
I didn't know whether to post here or on the miscarriage support thread as it covers both but I want to be hopeful.

Just delurking to say my sister was a twin as well, and her twin was miscarried. I'm not sure at what stage but it was fairly early on. She is fine and healthy and in her 30s.

Good luck, I hope it all works out ok for you.

  • Hi Carrot

I too have heard of one twin miscarrying early on and the other continuing to become a fit and healthy baby. Fingers crossed things work out for you.

I had my 12 week scan this morning. I had an early private scan and an emergency one a couple of weeks ago, but this is the one where I now feel like it's more real. My bubs is 6.5cm which is amazing as I've been thinking about it's size since it was a poppy seed!

Haven't started showing, but my belly does seem to be getting bigger - that may be down to the junk food tho, ooops!!

Baby measured at 12w6d with an EDD of 5th Feb, so I guess it's time for me to graduate to the next thread. I remember joining this one and feeling like I'd never get here!

Hoping to see you all over there soon xxx

Hi Paige, congrats on your 12 week scan! And wow 6.5cm - so small but already grown so much like you say. It is like a miracle really isn't it, amazing what our bodies can do!

Hopefully see you on the next thread x

Thanks for the stories of success ladies. It really helps and keeps my hopes high.
I have been reading up on it and there is "vanishing twin syndrome" which may happen. However, as scary as it is, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of them.
Today is the first day without bleeding in the last week so I am much happier today.

Congrats on your scan Paige. I can't wait for that day to come!

Aww glad you've had no bleeding today Carrot34, that must be a good sign. Are you off work taking it easy?

That's just reminded me I wanted to ask what people's views on lifting stuff while pregnant are? I don't want to take any risk but I'm worried this might be the thing that gives away my secret at work before I'm ready to reveal it! I only work in an office but sometimes we have events where I might need to lift boxes of papers, fold up tables, pull up stands etc. Not sure what to do in those circumstances x

Tilly, I struggled ttc so told my manager at 7 weeks was pregnant. I only did this though as there is an aspect of my job that requires lifting 30kg- whilst it's not supposed to be a single person lift it invariably ended up that way. I told her as I wasn't happy lifting that much weight by myself and pregnant. However I did go skiing the day after having my bfp so I was happy remaining physically active/ lifting lighter things, twisting etc. it depends on how comfortable you are with the weight, your capabilities and how you feel about doing it iykwim? By the second/ third trimester when all the 'relaxing' hormones kick in you may struggle to lift what you can now...

Can I join? I got my BFP today after 5 months of trying.

I have had really bad nausea for the last 5 days :(

My first pregnancy with DS (now 3.5) was easy, so for some reason I'm expecting this one to be much rougher!

    Very excited though!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Hello!!

Can I join too please? My Due Date is 2nd April 2015

I am about 5 wks pregnant following my first IVF cycle. I have been off work for the past 2 weeks as I developed OHSS which is a complication from IVF and I have been quite poorly so unable to enjoy being pregnant yet, however I am feeling a bit better now so hoping for a smooth pregnancy after the bumpy start.

As we had IVF I will have a 7 week scan at the IVF clinic which is on 14/08/14. I am really looking forward to it, for reassurance.

Should I tell my GP yet?

    Hope you are all well.
