So pleased that all is OK lollypopswater0

Quick update from me. I saw a consultant yesterday at C&W and with minimal history he has quickly decided he will do a TAC (trans abdominal cerclage) at week 12. It's scheduled for the 28th of March.
I'm really pleased. The more I read about it the more people say the TAC is great, and basically acts as a bionic cervix. Other cerclages are weaker, but this is the industrial strength one for ladies who have a major problem with a weak or damaged cervix.
It will be a open abdominal surgery very similar to a C-Section. They will cut through the abdomen to get to the uterus, then tie a band around the bottom. About 3-4 days in hospital, plus up to 4 weeks recovery, but then it is in permanently, even for future pregnancies. The consultant was a little worried that I was already pregnant and would prefer to have done it before, but hopefully there is enough cervix left, and the baby hasn't filled up the uterus too much by the time we get to 12 weeks. If it works (fingers crossed) up to 97% of women go full term. Without anything I wasn't likely to get much past 20 weeks, so that is fantastic news.
So I'm very pleased. NHS is great once you make it through to the right people! Glad I pushed it, as the other appointment I had was for week 14, and the consultant yesterday said that would have been too late.0 -

So pleased to see good news from lollypops - I must admit I came on here with my heart thumping wondering how it all went.
And time2deal - great news from you, too! That all sounds very positive, really pleased for you.
Laila - how are you doing? Hope spotting has stopped.
As for me, I am pootling along fine. Have not had a huge amount of sickness in the last couple of days...wondering if I could possibly be over the worst of it? But now I have said that, I will probably be terrible again tomorrow!
Is anyone else really...I don't know, sore in the tummy area? It is not cramps or even anything period-like and it is not even an ache - more sore and painful, my whole lower abdomen feels all tender and tight and swollen and sore. It hurts to bend down or touch it! It doesn't really feel 'bad' or make me worry it could be something wrong, for some reason - wondering if it is just normal stretching/growing pains? It feels quite 'full' and heavy, just really sore and tender. It is weird.0 -
It is so nice to come back and hear such great news lollypopswater and t2d
I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and I am soooooo excited0 -
time2deal Good news and I am glad they getting everything sorted for you.
lollypopswater I am so glad everything is OK.
It really is amazing me how many women seem to get bleeding in early pregnancy. I really think they should make this symptom more well known but at the same time I guess it's always good to get checked out.
My spotting as stopped now. I think it might have been due to hubby and me getting a little carried away with DTD last nightHas anyone else found this? This would also tie in with the bleeding last time too.
daisiegg The pains you are having sound like what I've been experiencing the last couple of days. Like you say, not like period pain but it hurts to touch and move. My groin area is quite sore too. I do think it's just everything growing and stretching.0 -

I'll admit bursting into tears when she said she could see a heartbeat!
I did this too when I was bleeding last time. I was convinced there would be no baby. It's such a great feeling seeing it in there. I am welling up now thinking about it...bloody hormones!0 -
I have had all those exact same pains, plus terrible bloat (I never normally bloat). I was really worried but it sounds like it's normal for early stage??
so glad things are OK for you lollypop, that must have been an awful wait0
