Know what you mean t2d. I'm on here and reading pregnancy websites rather than doing my uni assignment. I'd love to blame your 3pm fade but I think I'm just one of life's natural born procrastinators.
I spent a good portion of this morning figuring out when we conceived. It really shouldn't have taken as long as it did considering we only dtd twice that month! :rotfl: I'm pretty sure it was Christmas eve which is nice as we didn't get each other presents this year, this is way better! Stuff it- I blame the hormones!
Am 11+3 today and am so impatient for 10th March and the 12 week scan! Tempted to buy another private one before then just to have a peep what's going on in there! Found one for £39 in town but have to restrain myself- it'd only be 5 days before NHS scan so really no point other than impatience! Wish we had a little window built into us so we could have a look see what's going on!0 -
tcd, I asked my husband for a baby for Christmas
11+6 ish today, though my 8 week scan put me 3 days earlier than my own dates, so we might even share a due date! 1 week to my scan
I'm doing tutorials all afternoon, just got a 15 min gap for a cup of tea (whilst writing a conference presentation).0 -
I a 11+4 and think we conceived on 21st or 22nd December.
How do they date you? Is it based on size or certain features. My OH is 6ft 2 and everyone in his family are over 6ft. I am 5ft 6in so we expect tallish offspring.0 -
TCOD....I got mine for my birthday! Birthday was on a Thursday, but we didn't celebrate it until the weekend. Oh well, won't forget that present!!!No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000

For the embryo I think they base it on the size of the baby. I think the baby's development is pretty standard for us all regardless of size until later in the pregnancy. I was told that he should be growing 1mm a day, but I'm not sure when that starts. My bean was 17mm yesterday, and she said that was exactly right for 8+1.
I'm so jealous of you ladies who are further on!! C'mon time... move quicker!!
TCD, I'm also spending far too much time on this and other websites. Is everyone else entirely distracted by being pregnant!? I dreamt I got fired the other day, which may not be too far from reality soon!
(She says, typing at her work computer)0 -
I go for a couple of hours without thinking about it and then all of a sudden it hits me that I'm actually pregnant and it's not a mean dream and then I get all excited and impatient and totally distracted. I nearly bought a cot the other day- started daydreaming as pregnancy thing hit me again and missed the end of the auction. They relisted as a buy it now for double the price I'd have got it for at auction if I hadn't been all consumed by being pregnant! Think it's probably too early to buy a cot but it was such a bargain... still is at double the price tbh...0

I am sooo far from buying stuff. I think I need a lot more time to accept it is real. I also think that since I am the last of my friends to get pregnant, surely they have leftovers of everything, and I am far from precious about having new things.
Once I tell them, I will ask the two with small babies now to hang onto everything. We are going to be moving to Australia when the baby is quite small (if all goes to plan) so I won't be decorating or anything. Poor bub will be in with us!0 -
I'm with T2D on the buying things. I'm not of the 'I must have everything brand new and top of the range' type. I'm not even interested in buying new! We have friends and family that have recently had, and infact we have a cot in the loft the my step kids all used.
Talking to someone the other day and they were 'oh but you HAVE to have a new pram'. Why?! Why do I need a brand new all singing all dancing pram (because society says so) when a very good friend has one sitting at her mums house in immaculate condition that was only used for one child and not to be used again by them and she's already said she's giving me it? The only things I'm really interested in having new are the cot mattress and baby's coming home outfit, the rest I'm not bothered as s/he will only be using some of it for a matter of weeks or months!
Wait and see.....that will probably all change as time goes on!!!!No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
Uh oh, just had an embarrassing pregnancy moment!
Does anyone else get really painful nipples when it gets cold? ....I do  and this afternoon they have just been terrible. I was almost in tears and driven to distraction...so....erm...at my wit's end, I was kneeling down at the radiator in the hallway pressing boobs to the radiator!when....yes, you guessed it, doorbell rang and I turned to see very bemused looking Ocado man standing there watching me! Eek
As for buying things, I ordered my first little baby clothes yesterday online....was off work so sick and really needed to cheer myself up,,and having had the 8 week scan and seen a heartbeat we decided it is ok to buy one or two small bitsso I orders a couple of really cheap little clothes from the Mothercare sale. Exciting!

It depends on your hospital. Most do it on size of the foetus at the 12 week scan, based on the fact that growth is pretty standard at that stage. But yes if your baby is big they could say its due, before it really is if you see what I mean?!
However my hospital goes by LMP, and only changes the day if you are 7 or more days out. As they say babies comes when they want so its pointless to change it by a day or so. The midwife also told me even at that age they can very slightly vary by size, so lmp is more reliable.
However this only works for people who have a 28 day cycle - so if youre like me who doesnt have that, and goes to a hospital like that, my dates are 6 days behind theirs. But most hospitals dont seem to operate this way from what I can see on reading these boards and its all based on size x0
