Hello ladies! Gosh, it's just taken me an hour and a half to catch up, and I found that we're on a new thread! :)

Hope you all had a nice New Year! Was very strange having a quiet one for the first time in years! I was so proud of myself for staying up until midnight; OH and I walked into the town centre for the countdown and the fireworks but it was a bit of a disaster, the mayor's mic didn't work so the countdown was late and orchestrated by some random people in the crowd who'd noticed it was already midnight, the fireworks didn't start for a minute or so after that and then they were rubbish, I know we're in a recession but this was a joke! We were trying to figure out if this was a bad year or if it's always that bad but we've been too drunk to notice?! :rotfl:

Re: Hospital bags/going home outfits - we're packing some newborn bits and some 0-3 and will put him in whatever fits best, if he needs tiny baby stuff I'll send my Mum to fetch some but don't want to waste money on clothes we may not need! Got a gorgeous babygrow from Jojo Maman Bebe and a matching hat (white with little yellow ducks on) that I'd like to bring him home in. :) We'll just be putting him in a little cardigan with a blanket over him instead of trying to get him into his snowsuit straight away, would like a bit of baby dressing practice before attempting that! :p Is it odd that I'm hoping we have a cold few months coming up so we get some use out of the snowsuit?! It was pretty expensive so don't want to have wasted money on something he never wears! :o

Re: Leaky boobs - mine have been leaking for a few weeks now. I'm not loving it but it's not that much, I just pop a square of toilet paper in my bra and have taken to sleeping in a granny comfort bra to stop from waking up with a milky/crusty PJ top! :p I suppose I ought to get myself fitted for a couple of nursing bras... it's just another bleeding expense right now though!

I've been using Bio Oil every day to avoid stretch marks but I really think the benefit's more in just having a nice little belly rub morning and night as I reckon you're either going to get them or you're not. :o My Mum doesn't really have any from her pregnancies so I'm hoping to follow suit but I do have the silvery lines all over my hips from being a teenager (and using Bio Oil daily for years has done nothing to reduce them) so who knows, I may wake up one day to find a load of new lines! :o

Love the throwaway comment about using your OH's coat over you if you've got the baby in a carrier... I'm not huge (size 12) but my OH's clothes just about fit me pre-pregnancy so I've never been able to wear his stuff if I want something baggy. His clothes just make me feel fat as they fit so snugly! :rotfl: I'm heavier than him now too which is so depressing. He was saying the other night how he struggles so much during rugby season to keep extra weight on so he's not too light and that he must be the only person we know who goes jogging to put weight *on*! Took me a lot of energy not to punch him! :rotfl:

Congratulations Ellie! Gosh, what a surprise! :j

Hope your lady makes an appearance soon Kerri! Hope she doesn't end up sharing your nephew's birthday though. :)

Good luck today Jox. I'm so frustrated for you!

I'm not overly bothered about drinking like I used to again. I like waking up early on a Sunday and feeling fresh (well, as fresh as I can feel with all the pregnancy crap!) and I don't miss getting drunk. I miss having the odd social drink though and my social life has suffered massively. None of my other close friends have babies nor are they looking to have any for a few years so we've been somewhat left out of things since I got pregnant. :o I just hope that they visit as much as they've promised to once the baby's here and the social dynamic changes... i.e. we can go out for lunch or dinner without it having to turn into a 'session'! :p

I've only got 11 days left to work (finish 2 weeks tomorrow but only working 4 days in my last week) and I'm so excited! Will be so strange though... seems like it's all happening a little too soon now! :o But then, I feel like it's not soon enough as I'm so uncomfortable all the time OH has to keep saying 'It's OK... 5 and a half weeks left. That's all. You can manage that, can't you?'. Bless him. :) We got very excited yesterday when we realised we could say we'll be parents NEXT MONTH! :j

    34+3 :)

Yay for 11 days left at work birdie. The fireworks sounded funny, its amazing how perceptions change whether we are drunk or sober. Im not missing booze or hangovers either! My whole 20s seemed to be spent drunk or getting over a booze binge. Now I feel better and am not funding the alcohol industry any more!
Thanks for sympathy birdie, doc said I have more reason than most to be in hos so I don't feel like such a fraud any more. He said I shouldn't be thinking about going to work on Monday. Need to work out my options.
You're 3 days ahead of me, where's my leaky boobs!

Jox fingers crossed for your scan, must be very frustrating being in hospital when you feel ok in yourself. I still don't have leaky boobs although they do get a little bit after a hot shower, which mildly defeats the purpose lol

Forgot to say before, my cousin's wife said that when she was bfing she leaked so much at night that she started putting a newborn nappy down her bra!

I do miss the taste of cocktails but been having mocktails so it's not too bad, was never much of a drinker before I got pg anyway

I just have tomorrow to do then that's it, on maternity then official leaving date for VR is end of September. I still have no idea what I'm going to do with myself til the baby comes, might try learning to crochet lol today I'm guna take down Christmas decorations and pack hospital bags. I have the stuff just need to put it together, I bought the maternity pads etc from boots using points I'd saved so technically was free :)

Due date is one month today, feel like I've been pregnant forever, hope she comes soon after full term but that's just because I'm impatient. Full term is 12 January and DH reckons she'll be born 14 January, I'll be annoyed but secretly pleased if he's right lol

    Jox hope scan goes well.

kiddicare order of car seat and base arrived this morning too. Annoyed that I missed out on an extra 10% off if I'd waited and ordered yday instead of new years eve, but at least its here and sorted.

    28 +1

I just came on here to write exactly this!

Mine just came (actually came tues but my phone was dead so I didn't see text saying delivery was coming at 8.30am so I was asleep!) and then yesterday I got that 10% email which annoyed me! I did get 5% off from quidco though so tried to justify to to myself that that amount would be smaller if I'd had 10% off the original order but it's still irritating lol! I also ordered this mesh cot wrap and this nanny breathing mattress thing,( yes I'm a paranoid type of person!)so would have been £18 off.

When DH gets home from work I'm getting him to put the car seat away in the loft nice & safe as it's pink so just incase she came out as he, needs to be in perfect condition to take back! All I want is a healthy baby but hope it is definitely a girl as he's gonna be in a lot of pink stuff!!

    Good luck Rummer! :)

Claire, would it be worth contacting the Kiddicare head office to try and wrangle the 10% off retrospectively? Sometimes with companies if you contact them to say you'll return your item and reorder with the new discount they'll refund you the difference or send vouchers to save the extra work and as a goodwill gesture. I don't know if it'll work, just seems worth a try, especially if you mention that you're still in the market for 'big spends' with them! :)

I could have screamed when that email dropped in yday!! I was wondering if it was worth emailing them to say that I was going to return for a refund and re-order with the extra 10% and see if they would apply the discount, but thought I wouldn't get a reply yday.
    hmmmf
I also got the quidco, but still annoying.

Got one of the boys in the office to take it to the car for me :D The seat was really light but in a huuuuuge box!

Good luck Rummer, will be thinking of you today.

TL thats why I'm trying to hang on at work for an extra week. I'm scared I'll get bored and spend a full month eating in front of the tv before baby arrives!
 Mini me due March 2014
  • Hope everything goes well Rummer!

Jox - glad to hear you're holding on; hope the transport and scan goes well and you hear some positive news :)

I'm already picking up - think I'm just dehydrated and tired. I'm having serious issues drinking at the minute. I can stomach milk/'proper' hot choc (made with milk) but the sensation of anything else going down my throat has me squirming! It's almost like the 'thinness' of water/squash/tea is what is getting to me :S I'm not too bad at home as I've been sucking on those Jubbly ice pop things to get something in me but at work it's tea or water :/ so far I've managed 3/4s of a cuppa and that's it :/

Good Luck Rummer, be thinking of you x

Lush have you tried drinking from a different container? Sounds odd but a colleague couldn't drink anything out of a bottle when she was pregnant but was fine with anything in cups, maybe you've got the opposite? Just thinking it might seem 'thicker' coming out of a sports cap

Claire I have the same worry, always thought I'd keep things gender neutral as I had Views but turns out floral pink things are far too cute to resist and I worry we've bought her all these girly things and she could be a boy. I'll feel even worse as we've been calling her by the name we've chosen, what if we've been talking to Mary and she's a Joseph lol
