Kerri happy due date! Hope things get moving for you soon

I've had silvery stretch marks all the way through but last few weeks I've got some angry red ones. It's annoying cos I can only see them in bathroom mirror, if it wasn't for the mirror I'd be in blissful ignorance lol

Been having pains all morning in waves which worried me but seem to have faded now to just being generally sore lol hope it's just Braxton hicks and I need to rest on the couch, I know I told little lady she's a 2014 baby but this is still a little early lol

RE: snowsuits. Edward does hgave one, but barely uses it. Only for the school run when he's in his sling. I would wait until baby is born as you never know what the British weather will do.

Things have been not too great for Edward really. I wasn't too worried about him and thought he was fine, but the health visitor weighed him and he hasn't gained any weight at all and was still his birth weight at 6 weeks old. It was just a case of my milk being skimmed and not full fat so yes now on Aptamil formula and in the last 10 days, the little fatty has put on 600+g. It sucks not to breastfeed, but Edward is happy so that's the main thing :) he's such a gorgeous little man though. Smiling and giggling already when he was 5 weeks. Poor little man though has had so many tests and so much blood taken to "rule everything out". Its so sad when you see the size needle they stick in the babies and you can't do anything to stop the pain.

I hope everyone's births go well. Happy new year everyone :)
Happy new year. I hope he continues to thrive <3

When you say your milk wasn't full fat- how does that happen. ? I don't know much about breast feeding ... I do want to try it but not sure as I don't eat and drink very well so unsure if it's for the best but will discuss that with MW and see what she says.

My SIL started off bf my nephew then has to switch , it was aptamil the consultant advised so it seems the best one out there.

I'm going to pick up some bottles this month , had personal reccomendations for both tommies tipped and agent so will maybe get a small pack of both

For ladies worried about stretch marks I used wheat germ oil for the first two trimesters then splashed out on some elemis camelia oil and didn't get any stretch marks. I may just have been lucky though! I also found my almost 8 pounder was in newborn for the first month and is now almost out of her 0-3 months at 11 weeks.

How mental is it that it's 2014 now? I think with Christmas and NY that I kind of forgot how imminent it all is now! Went to MW yest, little P is now 3/5ths engaged and gowing icely. Cant help but hope she comes a little early as she guesstimated about 7lb yest and dreading going over! Also, I'll prob sit there fretting if i go over and at least it's a surprise if she comes early!

Does anyone know when Tesco & Asda will be having their baby events? In my head it should be soon, don't want to go out and buy lots of bits only to find them reduced the week after!
  • Ha ha I don't know why I'm excited about leaky boobs, I'm not planning on breastfeeding at all, mainly because my diet has been poor since I was a child and the MW and doctors agreed that I would have to make such a major change in eating habits that it would cause more problems than necessary. I think I'm more excited at the fact even with my poor diet I'm still producing the right stuff.
I'm surprised at that advice as surely it would only be vitamin deficiency that would be a potential problem and that could be remedied by vitamin drops? I'd always been under the impression that breastmilk was always the best option even if the mother has a poor diet - I'll have to do some more reading.

I had a really poor diet in my last pregnancy (due to hyperemesis) and then lost over 2 1/2 stone in the first eleven months after giving birth (making me underweight) despite my best efforts not to and it hasn't caused any problems with my milk so I wouldn't worry too much. My daughter had gained weight at just five days and last time she was weighed was just below the 91st centile having been born on the 98th. Plus I had so much milk that I was able to give loads away to a couple of people for their babies.

I have done something exciting today and got OH to bring down the cot from the loft. We have nearly cleared out the spare room which will become the nursery which is so exciting. It needs decorating and a good clean but I have a busy couple of months with work so I don't want to have all the clearing of the room when I more heavily pregnant.

I have so little for the her so far but my Mum did buy three hats, two pairs of scratch mits and a long sleeved top which was lovely.

My friend is really getting fed up now she is booked in for an induction on Sunday and will have to be in from Saturday night. She doesn't think inductions are great for a first birth as I think she has heard some horror stories. She has tried everything to get the labour going to no avail. She is 41 weeks now so will be nearly 42 but I said at least baby will be here this time next week :-) x

That's what I've least come across too, the only things I remember snippets about is being careful with alcohol - I.e pumping if you had more than a small amount before feeding, and a few certain strong flavour foods can affect the taste. I wouldn't have thought unless you are really malnourished or something it would make your breast milk like 'bad' can't think of another word.

    TL I can't believe you're 35 weeks!!

Con - you can always eat more when you start breast feeding - good excuse I reckon! :)

I'm not normally good at drinking enough but I drink all day since getting pg. partly as I'm thirstier & partly because I feel I should.

re: snow suits.. i'm due 29th March.. will the ones that are in shops just now ( the thickly padded ones) still be suitable ? Figuring it will still be pretty cold but I have no idea.. first baby and I'm CLUELESS !!

We're due 28th March and after the late snow last year we have one snowsuit which should be waterproof and a couple of thick pram suits - one of those is 3-6 months just in case she is as long as the scans suggest just so we can fit her legs in!

I tried not to go bananas and only bought when I felt I was getting too squished. I know you're not meant to, but I've found the most comfortable thing to do is go bra-less for most of the day :P

I hate buying bras so have only bought a 2 pack of night/'sleep' bras in size 8 from Mothercare. Literally a gift to myself as I hate going bra-less in bed and usually wear those tops with 'hidden support' in but love these so much more!I change in to one straight away when I get in from work!

Day wise I've bought new bras twice (a two pack each time) from Mothercare. The first time I got measured and the second I just went up a cup size. I used to have huge boobs so it's been weird having them again but luckily its easier to know what I can get away with. That said I could do with some more already...going to eek this last pack out until at least January pay day though as I hate paying out for them. Though now I have discovered the Mothercare outlet I will probs just drag bf there to get some towards the end of January.

Yesterday I worked out that from tomorrow I only have ten weeks left at work! which means only 12 weeks until little miss is due to make her debut appearance - so exciting
