Yay new thread, thank you nene, hope you're doing well x x

My sister somehow convinced me that I'd get more use out of a 3-6 month snow suit, but if she comes on time 3 months takes us to April, little lady will be swamped! It's from Next so hoping they'll be nice and exchange it, otherwise I'll just buy a 0-3 one as well as it's far too cute for her not to have lol

Yeah as I can't imagine using a thick padded snow suit in the summer?

re: snow suits.. i'm due 29th March.. will the ones that are in shops just now ( the thickly padded ones) still be suitable ? Figuring it will still be pretty cold but I have no idea.. first baby and I'm CLUELESS !!

We got one in the gap sale but bought 6-12 months for next winter. I haven't bought anything as warm as that yet in a smaller size. I'm going to see what the weather is like nearer the time, my mum is knitting plenty of cardigans and pram blankets! If winter carries on until April I'll just get something then.

But all these posts of clothes swamping babies is definitely making me think I need to make sure I have enough 'newborn' things. And perhaps some cheap ones after reading about the tar/mucus lol!

Jox so pleased you've got your own room, you need to get sleep whilst you can!

Happy new year everyone I think I'll be in bed soon!

I don't have a lot of clothes at all, got about 5 babygros, 5 sleepsuits, some bibs and some mitts.. all in white. Have 9 knitted cardigans, a knitted hat and knitted shawl...

That's it ! Because I am in team yellow I don't want to buy much but have plenty shops nearby me and the hospital and people will buy clothes as presents I imagine. There is a 24 hour tesco a stones throw from the hospital and a Matalan pretty much next door so should be fine.

Thinking something like this for coming out of hospital

not quite the really thick ones but will be in a car seat with blanket and going into a car then into the house...

Thanks nene, I was just wondering how long was too long, for the old thread. Hope it gets locked soon so there's less confusion :)

I don't think the freebies/baby club info is very current though. :o Seems most have cut right back on freebies and it's mostly just emails and the odd voucher these days

How's new motherhood treating you, anyway?

Delurking to see if any of you lovely ladies have had your babies yet.....good luck Kerri. I totally know what you mean about getting frustrated at the stop/starting - I had contractions stopping/starting for 3.5wks and Joshua ended up being a week late despite dd2 being early.

Re: clothes. I hope this helps someone. Joshua was predicted to be 8-8.5lbs but was 7lb 7oz. The newborn clothes drowned him so I had to rush out and buy Tiny Baby clothes. The sizes on clothes are just a guide - Joshua seems to be smaller than his weight suggests (we think he's heavy boned lol). He only started wearing newborn clothes at 6wks and at 8wks 2 days, he still isn't in 0-3 yet.

One other suggestion for winter/cold month babies: sleeping bags with arms are the best. We have 2 and both have detachable arms (good for warmer nights). Joshua would wake with cold arms before buying the arm-type! We had bought a few snugglewraps but Joshua likes to sleep with his arms up by his face so the wrap would wriggle down. Funny cos in his scans his arms were always up!

    Best of luck everyone! Xx

Had some twinges today and been feeling really heavy. Re: leaky boobs, I have finally had a drop! Sorry for me this is exciting, it was however only after squishing them lol.

Eek Bambisbelle, I don't want leaky boobs! I feel lucky to not have any stretch marks yet, although considering I'm prone to them I'm not hopeful that it will last long.

    Happy new year everyone.

I popped to the shops for an hour earlier to get a birthday present and later realised I have 4 birthdays and my parents' 40th wedding anniversary around my due date! Not good. So may go back tomorrow to see what I can buy early at a good price. We also bought all of next year's Christmas cards. :)

Ha ha I don't know why I'm excited about leaky boobs, I'm not planning on breastfeeding at all, mainly because my diet has been poor since I was a child and the MW and doctors agreed that I would have to make such a major change in eating habits that it would cause more problems than necessary. I think I'm more excited at the fact even with my poor diet I'm still producing the right stuff.

Ahh the stretch marks (literally have just done a review on dooyoo about one of the creams) I had none for up until 26/27weeks and then I had 4 tiny ones and then suddenly I had 400 strectch marks. I'm pretty sure they're hereditary (think I read it somewhere) so no amount of cream is going to completely stop them. Fingers crossed you're one of the lucky ones that doesn't get them.

Insomnia sucks!! Really wish I could sleep I'm exhausted and she's not even here yet!

RE: snowsuits. Edward does hgave one, but barely uses it. Only for the school run when he's in his sling. I would wait until baby is born as you never know what the British weather will do.

Things have been not too great for Edward really. I wasn't too worried about him and thought he was fine, but the health visitor weighed him and he hasn't gained any weight at all and was still his birth weight at 6 weeks old. It was just a case of my milk being skimmed and not full fat so yes now on Aptamil formula and in the last 10 days, the little fatty has put on 600+g. It sucks not to breastfeed, but Edward is happy so that's the main thing :) he's such a gorgeous little man though. Smiling and giggling already when he was 5 weeks. Poor little man though has had so many tests and so much blood taken to "rule everything out". Its so sad when you see the size needle they stick in the babies and you can't do anything to stop the pain.

I hope everyone's births go well. Happy new year everyone :)

Right then keeping spirits high must remember only 90% of babies are born on their due date and 90% come before 41 weeks, hence why the French give a extra week compared to us Brits. Can't believe the yanks start sweeps and inductions at 38-39 weeks, madness. Little one needs to avoid her cousin's birthday tomorrow, especially seeing how my sister is super jealous that our bundle is pink (she dresses her youngest like a girl as age was so desperate for him to be pink! )

Nene - sorry to hear the bf didn't work out, hope he doesn't need many more tests

Lol at all the leaky boobd talk, aren't our body's funny things
