Got my witch hazel gel, had to hunt as it wasn't where I expected but it was a good excuse to peruse the baby bits. Bf's cousin is also pregnant, a few weeks behind us, but with very little of anything so we dropped a couple of new bottle we got, some pjs etc round for her - hate thinking that we've got everything and she has nothing :-\ but then i also have to remind myself though that bf and I have saved £60 a week for the past year (and about £30 a week before that) and even with buying everything for baby ourselves (and i mean everything - the only thing we don't have yet is the stage 1+ carseat!) we still have £1500 meanwhile neither her or her family (she's only 20 and its just her, her mum and brother) have ever saved, she's not got a job and her mum doesn't work(!). We've also dipped in to the savings for house bits so I'm very happy with how we have done :-) the sure start money has gone towards the new cooker (I'm sat here waiting for the delivery), the fitting and half the cost of whichever car seat we end up getting.
Obviously we could have done things a lot cheaper but we've tried to buy things which will last for some time - the nursery furniture will be great for sometime esp the wardrobe and cot bed, and we will use it again if/when we have a second. The travel system will get lots of use and then be saved for the next as long as it stays working! If we decide we need a lighter buggy when she is a bit older (e.g. for travelling) mil has one we will acquire ;-)************************************

So tired today even after taking an iron tablet this morning. I am off to bed, was so annoyed in the shop got there and they didn't have the blind id been sent a text to say was ready & waiting for me to collect from customer services - the guy couldn't find it even though my name was on his list! Luckily they had one on the shelf or think I would have released the pregnancy hormones!0

mysecretalias wrote: »Kynthia I'm so glad to hear you've finally exchanged. How comes there is now such a delay until final completion? I'm only being nosy and asking because with us buying a house at the moment I'm not really sure how the process works as we are newbies so I'm wanting to try and get an idea in my head of how long it will take!!
The disagreement over the completion date explains most of the delay in exchanging the contracts. Throughout the process the seller has been keen for us to progress quickly and we've been keen as well due to our EDD. So when we found out we were signing contracts in a week because all enquiries and searches were completed, we gave the seller a heads up so she could start organising her move. However the seller does nothing and doesn't even sign her own contract for another fortnight (a week after us), before telling us she now wants more than another four weeks to arrange things! We have a stand off but eventually give in due to not wanting to lose the house. However it still takes two days to actually exchange contracts due to communication issues. So to summarise, if it was up to us we could have exchanged, completed and even moved in a few days ago but it's now going to be the end of the month and virtually my due date before we're sleeping there.
I hope your purchase goes smoother, but all purchases and sales are a nightmare.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Ok, I've finally posted my birth story here. I think it looks really long but hopefully it makes sense
(I don't have what it takes to give it a second pass
). Hopefully it's helpful/interesting/reassuring to some. Most things that happened weren't what we'd have chosen and would actively like to have avoided, but I can honestly say I didn't feel panicked or pressured into any decisions etc at the time and none of it was a bad/scary as I might've feared (if I'd actually let myself think about all the possibilities in advance!)
I've decided to keep MiniZee's name off the open forum, for privacy/anonymity reasons, but if you've been following my ttc/pg story and you're intrigued enough to PM me for it then that's ok with me(Birdie, there's a picture a few pages back..?)

BadlyWrittenPoem wrote: »Are you on the metaclopramide now instead of cyclizine or in addition to cyclizine? If you're on both, I just want to mention that it increases the risk of extra pyramidal side effects from the metaclopramide (these side effects are the reason metaclopramide is a second line rather than first line treatment). They aren't dangerous and if you have them they go away when you stop taking it but I had some and it was pretty frightening purely because I had no idea what was happening to me or whether it was dangerous at all.
Thanks for the heads-upI'm just on the metoclopramide at the moment as the cyclizine was having next to no effect, but I'll definitely bear that in mind if the GP suggests using them together. I was already getting bad hand tremors from the cyclizine (not ideal when I spend all day typing!) so pretty glad to get off them, TBH, and I had a whole day without being sick yesterday - definitely a triumph!
And thank you to everyone else for your well wishes too.
Great news that you've exchanged Kynthia!
We bought our Moses basket yesterday, got a £5 Mamas and Papas voucher with the new catologue, so put that towards it and got the Hoppity Hoot one with the bouncer and changing mat to match. I love all things owls, so really pleased with that, and the basket was half price too. DD let me sleep in until 9 this morning when mini-DD woke me up and I spent 5 minutes watching my tummy move as she kicked away, so even the wind and rain can't upset me today!
mysecretalias, have you had any more pains over the weekend or has it settled down now?
25+0Team Pink! Baby girl due 25/5/140 -
So glad I'm not the only one suffering with heartburn. Luckily it's calmed down the last couple of days meaning I actually slept through most the night (apart from the usual early morning trip to the loo - won't miss those!).
Glad you've finally exchanged Kynthia. Sounds like it's all been abit of a pain but will be worth it once your all moved in and settled with your LO.
I nearly released my pregnancy rage yesterday Claire whilst checking out the baby event in A£da. After being hit with 3 trollies (I can't help it I waddle - I try to walk fast) I was about to explode.
Hope you've had a relaxing weekend con
Im off to read BZs birth story now - think or hope anyway that I am finally ready to hear stories about labour0 -
Thanks for sharing your story BZ! I get confused about who has and hasn't posted pictures but went back for another look and he's totally worth all the pain!
Bit bored today, we've been on a 2 mile walk followed by a spicy chicken sandwich in the hopes it might get things moving but now I'm just knackered for the day!Luckily (???) OH has caught my cold so isn't feeling up to much anyway otherwise I'm sure he'd be begging me to suck it up and go out somewhere with him!
Hate this feeling of just waiting for something to happen now!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
For the ladies buying the Kiddicare Vanilla nursery set, DH just found these for me on Amazon and theyre the perfect size! I found some other ones yesterday with cream or pink or blue linings, which were pretty good size wise, but these are a better size almost like they were made for it

Happily Married since 20160 -
I have cabin fever lol
Not been at work since Tuesday and I am now bored out my mind, usually would love a lazy Sunday after a busy week at work but I've ran out of things to do.
Have walked dog, cleaned house, changed bedcovers, done dishes, got a washing in, drove to McDonalds drive thru for lunch... now what ? ?
It wouldn't be so bad if I could watch TV but it's football, football, football... would usually baby shop online but we have all we need for now and with being Team Yellow I can't shop for clothes.
Sigh..0
