I'm totally panicking about antenatal courses now. I couldn't find any in my area that were suitable in terms of dates, so it's got to the point now where the only one NCT can offer us finishes only 6 days before my due date and is half an hour from where we are due to move to
So I've found another one which is unfortunately going to have to do. It's not NCT but one run by a midwife who does her own private courses. It still doesn't start until the end of march though and it's a lot more expensive than the NCT one (the NCT one which is an 'essentials course' is £135 and the private one is £210).
So I think we are just going to book the midwife one but it's just a lot of money to pay when we are in the process of buying a house!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
Maternity leave fund: £3000/£6000 :T0 -
Oh dear, you guys are making me feel guilty that my OH gets three weeks paternity leave at full pay. However we all differ when it comes to income, commuting time, employer flexibility, housing costs and other outgoings, family help with childcare, etc. So I'm sure I'll envy those whose partners are home 20mins after finishing work and have family prepared to help with childcare if returning to work.
We didn't exchange on the house today as the seller was awol and even their own solicitor couldn't contact them. The fear of losing this house so close to the birth is killing me!Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

It's the last thing I need for my hospital bag :-)
I started off with Boots own (which didn't ever sting) and when we bought more we couldn't get back to Boots again so bought the Witch (Dr Witch?) Branded one, which has occasionally stung (in an I'm working way). It's good on piles too
they recommend you using pile cream if you have stitches...
I've written my birth story on my computer but the baby woke up before I got to post, so I'll try again tomorrow"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
I used quidco but the money never came through so Ive had to fill in a claim form. Becsxx on here had the same thing happen.
Has yours gone through ok?
Yep I've had over £30 cashback paid from them for various orders. OH's parents bought the cots though, maybe quidco fails on the larger orders? I bought a lot of other stuff at Boots for the AC points.0 -
Con - I have bottle fed my 10 month old and the guidelines have always been make one at a time however with a baby with reflux constantly wanting feeds and in pain and crying at about 3 months I started bulk making the bottles because it was too hard to make them fresh and care for my son. Because he was feeding so often it meant that they were never left any longer than 3hrs. As the time spread even further I bulk made them twice a day.
I would boil the kettle and make the bottle pretty much straight after, then cool them down as fast as I could, ice, changing the water every few minutes, then stick them in the back of the fridge. My lo has never had any tummy upsets and now at 10 months and on 3 bottles I still make two for the day in the morning and then his morning one the night before. Just thought I would give experience from actually doing it.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
mysecretalias wrote: »Yah they definitely sell them because I have them on my kiddicare baby gift list which I set up a while ago (probably about 3/4 months) - it's just unfortunately I can't link to them because every time you click on the item to find out the details it just says 'sorry we can't find the item you're looking for'...lol.
I'll try and post a screenshot of my gift list with the baskets on if i can!
Becsxxx thanks yes definitely let me know if you find any!! I think ikea do some but I don't know if they would be the right size or anything.
Alternatively I was looking at this one:

Ah I see! Maybe there's why I've never seen them then as I only found that set I think just before Xmas. In the store I looked at it in they had completely different ones on the display model! But I didn't like them.
Our nct course cost £220 odd if it's any consolation.0 -

Oh my goodness, did you manage to get any money off them last week? You do wonder whether some people actually want to move house sometimes!
Yeah that's a good point - hoping my mum will help with child care when I go back to work and DH has time off in the day sometimes too. Good job as housing costs here are not as bad as London but verging on it and were trying to save for a house!0 -
The gel. Definitely the gel

Thank you! Popping to Boots today to see if I can get my hands on some. If not going to do an online order and get it delivered to store as I am going to treat myself to a new sensationail gel come months end so won't take much more to get up to the £20 threshold!************************************

Morning ladies, Becca let us know if mothercare turn up
to collect their things.
Had our last hypnobirthing session last night and it brought everything together lovely. We have our own hypnobirthing birth plan but the other ladies were surprised that a birth plan hasnt even been mentioned yet by our NHS midwife- I'm 37 weeks.
Sorry if this is TMI- noticed on loo roll this morning big blob of what looked liked snot, not blood streaked or pink more light green. Could this be my plug?April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500 -
mysecretalias wrote: »I really like this set and for the price I really want to get it, it's just a real shame you can't seem to buy those baskets at kiddicare anymore, they're always out of stock or unavailable.
If anyone has been able to find the baskets anywhere else let me know!!!!
These are similar, I've bought them myself for baby's room. Good sizes available and a good price but not wicker.
