  • I've only weighed myself about 3 times throughout my pregnancy so far, and I've been not bothered about my weight gain which has surprised me as before I fell pregnant I was a complete gym bunny, weighing myself every other day and on a strict protein shake/diet regime!

It is a little scary to think how much pregnancy changes your body though :) I've gone from a size 6, to a size 14 (on top) and size 10 (on bottom) in just 5 months! I've also gone from a 32B bra size to a 36C! To be honest though I'm honestly not worried, I know afterwards I'll lose the weight, and actually I couldn't care less - all I care about is baby!!!

Polkadots yes I get pain at night all over, in my knees, ribcage, elbows but especially my hips. I'm seeing a physio now, had my second appointment yesterday and am totally bedridden today from being so sore where she was manhandling my hip, but hopefully it'll be worth it in the long run! I've found sleeping with a pregnancy pillow as well as a back support cushion under the hip I'm lying on, helps a little bit.

Hoping I'll be well enough to go back to work tomorrow! I've been off now since last Thursday and I'm getting cabin fever!

I have a moby wrap sjlou which I got on with with DS (although I now kick myself for paying full price), I also have a bjorn carrier too. The moby takes practice to put on! Have a look to see you if you have a sling library near you then you can try out different slings and get advice how to fit them properly - its certainly worth the effort.

Thanks for the tip, I'm going to see if there's one nearby and that'll be a job for when I'm on mat leave.

And good attitude about weight gain/loss etc.
I've put on about a stone in weight, although had lost around the same when I had my morning sickness. So still around my pre pregnany weight of 12 stone. So Ill still have some to loose to get back to my ideal weight but wont be rushing into exercising. Plenty of long walks with the pram will help I'm sure.

Having a very tiring week, roll on a lie in of sorts Friday when I'm working from home! :D

There's a sling library near me which i plan on going to at some point. Hubby has just bought himself a bargain babybjorn on eBay. He's been dying to get one for he's which I think is very cute! He can't wait to use it!!!
  • my OH is also desperate to get a baby bjorn, has been looking for ages for a good quality second hand one at every sale we go to but haven't found one yet!! We might end up buying brand new but I just don't know that I want to spend almost £100 on a carrier that we might only end up using a couple of times - though OH is adamant he would use it all the time!!!

I'm not really that bothered about my weight gain TBH, I find it funny and interesting more than anything! One of my friends said 'You'll have to get on the Kinect when the baby's sleeping for some exercise' and I just looked at her like she was mental! :p Lots of walks with the baby will be enough for a while. I think OH expects me to shrink back quickly though... he'll be in for a shock! :o

Stretchy wraps- I've bought a M&P Flo wrap because it was reduced to about £25 and I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I might not get on with. If I like it I'll be getting something like a Moby. Just need the little dude to arrive so I can take all these things I've been buying for a test drive! We're getting a more manly Britax carrier too for OH as he refuses to wear a wrap for some reason! ;)

My family/OH's family are already sending the 'Any news?' texts and acting like baby's late... he's not even due until Monday! Jeez, give him a break! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I was going to post on this thread initially but the whole thing got a bit ranty and I didn't want to take over the whole thread lol!!! :)

Lol birdie my OHs mum keeps saying 'oh god you'd better start watching what you're eating' I'm like 'hello I'm still tiny what are you on about?!!' It is starting to get me slightly annoyed!! I've not got any bigger apart from my bump and boobs for crying out loud!

If anyone tries texting me asking if I have 'any news' up to, including and after my due date I think I might throw a fit!!

Before I fell pregnant I was exactly 8 stone. Now, 24 weeks in, I'm 9 stone 8lbs, so I've put on about a stone and a half - though it must be all bump and boobs (and maybe a little bit on the bum) because I feel the same size everywhere else!!
It is a little scary to think how much pregnancy changes your body though :) I've gone from a size 6, to a size 14 (on top) and size 10 (on bottom) in just 5 months! That just shows exactly how much weight is irrelevant to body size and why we shouldn't focus on it! Like you say the baby is the important thing too.

Ive put on more than you although I am further along, but my size hasnt changed much really at least not on top. I was a size 6/8 on top and now Id say Im just an 8!? My boobs havent changed much at all I'm still wearing same bras just less padded ones, and they feel tighter around the rib cage. Sounds like you are lucky and its gone to your boobs! But my hips have gone from 8/10 to 12. So I think is basically all on my bump and hips. And think my bum is bigger as I reckon I could do with new pants think they might get swallowed soon :rotfl:

I think its also why my hips really hurt so much at night they must be expanding!

Wraps - at nct the teacher suggested if you can find a sling library or borrow off a friend, as like you say Birdie, you could get one and hate it.

Hoping to do the nursery furniture this weekend. Just touched up some paint this morning so its all ready to go in the room now.

There is a baby and childrens market this weekend near me, and another the following weekend then I think an nct one in march so hope to get some bargains there.

I'm looking forward to the 1lb in boobage that kynthia has written about still waiting for that lol

    I found this page before

    http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a554810/weight-gain-in-pregnancy

I've never been weighed apart from at my booking in appt.
AFAIK the NICE guidance is that the only routine weighing is at booking and I've not heard of people being weighed routinely at any other point in pregnancy.
  • Me either - apart from my booking in, I haven't been weighed at all, I've just weighed myself at home a few times (and not because I was worried because I was curious to see how much bump weighs :))

Yep my boobs are humongous!!! It's brilliant!!! I've never had boobs before!! Lol!
