NDG- my OH is like that. He's 5'9 and slim but weighs more than he looks like he ought to! I think his bones are made of cement! Funnily when we go swimming he sinks straight to the bottom of the pool he's so dense! :p I hate him going on about struggling to maintain his current weight because he needs to be heavy for rugby- I guess we all have our weight struggles though, it's just frustrating that I can't ever keep if off and he can't keep it on! :o

Oh wow, some babies! Congrats to the new mums x

37 weeks tomorrow... I have a day off work (not starting mat leave until next week) and my 2 yr old is in nursery so going to buy a moses basket mattress and some bedding as we appear to have none. I think I gave them to a friend when she had her little one but they were 2nd hand anyhow. Would be nice for this baby to have a few new things!!

Because I moved jobs last year (accepted a new job on the Friday, found out I was pregnant again on the Monday!) I don't get SMP I had to apply for Maternity Allowance. Form was a nightmare but I got it approved, just have to tell them what date I finish now. I don't think I get 90% wages for any period which is a pain, but we should be okay financially.

If it's any consolation, Mary, I realised that too - what with us having the same due date, I think it's inevitable, though!.

Nice to see you ndg, I was missing my date twin :j

I know what you mean about the weight gain and even though its inevitable I'm still trying not too put on too much, have put on 8lb in total so far but I feel myself getting hungrier by the day lol! I'm a size 16 anyway so weight gain shows a lot on me and I'm starting to feel quite concious of it. My bump is really solid now and the thumps are quite jerky, she's so active! Nice to know she's all ok in there though that's the main thing :)

Congrats to Faerie and Frano, now the fun part starts lol!

Congratulations to Faerie and Fran! :T Wonderful boys names and what a coincidence with the weights.

I have to say getting this close to my due date is making the thought of labour real and scary. Although I'm expecting to go overdue and be induced so I have another 6 weeks to prepare. I might look and see what classes I can do in the meantime, can you do hypnobirthing this late? I was also brave and went to a bump and babies group this morning even though I was the only bump. They were really nice. I'm also meeting my mum for lunch plus buying the travel system tomorrow, so I'm keeping busy. :D

Still haven't agreed a completion date or exchanged yet, so time to ring the agent and possibly give in and move 6 days before my due date. Annoyed but I can't lose the house.

I have this sometimes it can be really uncomfortable. Sometimes it will be under the bump & other times on the side!

I know - OH took many years to regain the weight he lost working in India for 8 months. He didn't get much sympathy from me, or my mother, we reckoned we should all have his problems (-: He, and our 8 year old son, eat constantly, scoff everything in sight, and stay slim. S'not fair!

I don't think I've gained any weight yet, because of being so sick all the way through, but my shape's definitely changed significantly. And I'm being kicked hard, too - it's funny how it's absolutely impossible to explain how it feels to anyone who hasn't experienced it.

I used to be able to eat anything but unlike my pregnancy with DS I have gained weight around my bum and hips. At least I don't look straight up and down now - oooooo and I have a bust which is quite a treat for OH - for viewing purposes only though lol :rotfl:

  • Before I fell pregnant I was exactly 8 stone. Now, 24 weeks in, I'm 9 stone 8lbs, so I've put on about a stone and a half - though it must be all bump and boobs (and maybe a little bit on the bum) because I feel the same size everywhere else!!

How much weight do the experts usually say you're supposed to put on throughout pregnancy? I'm assuming mine is normal but have no reference point!!

I'm being kicked a lot now, at certain times during the day as well. OH is a little jealous, he felt her once and since then he hasn't felt any kicks - it's like she waits for him to put his hand on my belly and then stops moving!!! OH is not impressed!!

I think 2 stone is expected on average with most of it being put on after 20 weeks. It consists of baby 7.5lb, placenta and amniotic fluid 3.5lb, uterus 2lb, extra blood and fluid 5lb, extra breast tissue 1lb, fat stores for breast feeding 9lb. However it does differ slightly depending on your BMI to start with and everyone differs from averages on the size of their baby and the other gains, for example my boobs are no bigger but some peoples' are probably more than a 1lb more. Also those with bad morning sickness probably lose body fat before beginning the gains, so unless your midwife is worried we should just eat healthily and relax.
