claire16c - hope your bits arrive very soon!
con1888 - I thought you could store milk for up to a week if its your milk, I am probably really wrong!
Birdie85 - I never had a show with DS - so could happen without!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Sounds exciting Kynthia but yeah I guess could just be an early start which could either progress or tail off. Have you had any other labour symptoms like feeling sick or diarrhoea etc? Hope the exchange goes through ok tomorrow!0

Con - the perfect prep machine is something I have been looking at as well. I want to try breast feeding so I am not sure whether to get it or not. If I am being realistic though in my mind I am thinking I am most likely to start exclusively breast feeding and then move onto combination feeding maybe. I just need to do some extra research for it though I guess. Im not really sure what the current advice is in regards to keeping milk though. Although I am pretty sure people express it and freeze it for occasions when they need to go out and leave the baby with a babysitter. So I would have thought it would be ok to keep it in the fridge for a short while.0

I'm looking into the perfect prep machine as it's on offer on Amazon however I want to try breastfeeding so think I will hang off.
What is the current advice reg bottle feeding ? Is it make one at a time and don't store ANY in fridge even for an hour or so ? As if that's the case then perfect prep definately seems a good idea. However I am sure most mums I know usually have a bottle or two in their changing bags so wondering if they are just avoiding the advice or if I am missing something ??
I know with my neices my SIL usually had 1-2 in the fridge ready made. They are 5 and 10 though so advice may have changed since or she just done it her own way.
Yeah I think the advice changes every now & again but I have a feeling they do say to just make one at a time now - I don't know if people do that in real life though.
I'm not really sure I'm sure someone else will know, but travel wise This says no more than 2 hours out of the fridge and if it's longer than that to take powder & flask of the boiled water with you or buy pre made cartons.

If it's breast milk we were told at nct you can keep in the fridge for a week and freezer for 6 months. But your milk adapts over time to suit the baby so you wouldn't want to be giving a baby milk from 6 months ago every day but can't really see why that would happen anyway!0 -
Kynthia - I think you're just trying to win the queue jumping race cos I told you I'm having a section a week early :rotfl:
Seriously tho, when my plug went both times I had babies within a couple of days but probably different for different people. Worth speaking to your midwife/hospital anyway.
Con1888 - I find that baby carriers are only good when they are relatively small. They get so blooming heavy! Much better to get an off road pushchair - great for going long dog walks. I had an out n about which was fab even for going round town. I suppose depends if you can afford another pushchair but you could get one second hand. I've bought a double one second hand as my toddler might not need to be in it for that long or only occasionally when we walk into town etc when it would be too far for her. Also re storing bottles, the advice has changed and you're not supposed to now as in theory bacteria could grow if it's sitting for a while, even in a fridge. I have to admit with DD2 I did keep at least one in the fridge most of the time and it was fine plus I would use the microwave to heat it up. It's fine as well if you put it in for the correct time and shake it well. Oh I can just hear the HV screams up and down the country lol!
BigZ - glad your little boy is doing well and would live to hear your birth story
Lushlifesaver - child tax credits vary to your exact circumstances so you won't find an exact amount online. There is a calculator but it says if you have a disability not to use it as it could be different again. The pain with tax credits is that it takes into account the previous year's salary, not what your current income is. :cool:0 -
Just found this says formula is ok for 12 hours in the fridge
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a752/bottle-feeding-basics#section6
It also says bacteria can grow in a few hours though so bit conflicting.0 -
Thanks, I was meaning formula, what's the current rules on that. It seems most I know don't follow them as such.. oops!
faithhope - don't know that an off road would even be suitable, our walks are VERY muddy and usually in farm land, here is an example
We do these kind of walks at the weekends when both off work, weekday walks are more buggy suitable lol0 -
Con that's hilarious, if we go on a walk and it's got really wet like that, DH carries me over the puddle - I'd be on his back permanently on that field lol! God I'm such a princess sometimes! It's ok if I've got wellies on but sometimes I've worn my nice boots and then there's an unexpected wet bit and if it's really muddy.... Blink my eye lids at DH lol0

I wouldn't do it without my wellies lol and the sludgy bits I take ages atm as I don't want to slip and fall in it !! I do enjoy it though, I took the dog to our local dog wash yesterday as he was starting to smell, i've been nesting and nothing including him is getting left out !! He now smells like baby powder0
