Con- a friend told me to pack a couple of flannels in the hospital bag, she said her DH kept running them under the cold tap then putting them on her forehead/back of her neck to cool her down. Sounded like a good idea so I've packed some!Another friend told me to pack juice cartons since the nurses only seemed to want to offer her cups of tea which was the last thing she wanted to drink!
!
I saw ( perhaps on here) someone suggest putting capri suns or the likes in the freezer and lifting some out to take to the hospital as the labour wards are really warm ( infact the whole maternity wing at ours is) so with them having been frozen they may last cold a little longer. So plan on getting some and warning oh NOT to touch them til he is putting them in the bag when we are going !!
Will put flannels in too, that's also a great idea.
I had to write a sort of birth plan today with MW, more so my expectations ( its a bit in the blue maternity notes) and next visit I think we discuss it more. I've written that I think I may like the birthing pool for labour if it's available.. the more I think of it the more I like the idea so will see what she says. I was looking at tankinis in Asda today thinking if I get the go ahead I'll pick one up.0 -
Hi all,
Welcome newbies!
Well, I had a carp nights sleep. Think it was a combination of eating too much sunday lunch and baby wriggling a lot! Could not get comfy at all.
So v tired at work today.
Breast feeding nct session after work tonight, ill be lucky to be able to keep my eyes open!
eeek, just noticed I am into the top 20 on the list!
con oooh good idea, I love a capri sun!
birdie flannels are now on my list too.
not sure who first asked the Q about bras! I went and got measured for old granny soft bras at m&s. The lady recommended going in as late as possible for feeding bras. Another note, apparently you have to book a fitting appointment, who knew?! But she managed to squeeze me in.
smlsave I'm with you on the read, sleep and generally laze about! 3 weeks, 4.5 days to go!Mini me due March 2014

Smp save anytime Ive stayed in Ive brought my normal slippers so you can walk about in them you don't wanna get your bed socks on the corridor floors! Or was that what you meant by spa slippers? I might bring clean flip flops as dont like my feet touching shower floors in the hospital!
I'm also bringing a razor as I can't stand having under arm hair for more than 5 minutes and make up but that's as I wear it all the time & you could be different!
Your list looks pretty good nice & concise but seems to cover everything!
Maybe a hand held fan?luckily my hospital seems to have quite a few fans it's the one thing I really hope they have as I don't think they like you bringing in electrical stuff and it's so hot in there so I'm gonna get a hand one incase.0 -
Had a tiny meltdown last night when I looked in the mirror in my underwear. My legs from the knees upwards look like orange peel! I have gained weight but it appears its gone straight there. I think it makes it worse my OH is on a health kick and doing something called Insanity - while I am chucking in the food he is running around and is loosing weight as I am gaining it.
Is it totally selfish of me to think it was a bit mean of him to start doing Insanity?! I feel really pathetic.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

They are stolen slippers from Bath Spa so I can throw them away - I agree with not wanting to walk on the floor!
No make-up as I rarely wear it, people get a shock when I do :rotfl:Is it totally selfish of me to think it was a bit mean of him to start doing Insanity?! I feel really pathetic.
It's not selfish or pathetic hun. I'm jealous of lots of things that DH is doing atm because I'm tired and just can't do stuff I used to. Is your OH aware that he will have to calm down/stop Insanity when baby arrives as his main job then is to look after you and baby? This includes cooking, cleaning, jumping to your spoken word etc.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

smlsave (and anyone else) - one thing i would recommend is glucose tablets or gels (can be bought from boots/supermarkets). they are great for long labours when you might not want to eat anything that you're offered in hospital but need to energy. Took me 18 hours to get from 4 - 10cm and they were invaluable. Fingers crossed none of us have a labour like that though!! :-)0

It's not pathetic at all. I get jealous of DH over the silliest thing. Mainly because in my mind we BOTH made the baby and are therefore BOTH responsible for her well being, that includes while still in the womb. So i just get really annoyed when he goes out drinking etc, not that i particularly want to do that but it's the lack of options that annoy me!0 -
Sorry for late reply ladies, Imogen Louisa was born 29th at 5.48am. Gas and air only 3 hours 45 mins from start to finish! Didn't expect either but decided at the hospital on a water birth as had been in the bath at home and helped so much with contractions.
She's gorgeous and we were out same day. Second deg tear for mummy but its liveable as get to stare at her and see how worth it it is and why it's a bit uncomfy downstairs lol!
She got christened the bullet by the midwives as three pushes and she was out! Never been so shocked lol.
Massive tip on the healing Malachy is lavender oil is a god!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140
