I've finally started doing some packing of bags today but not got far as yet! Some stuff in for baby, nothing for me yet. I have 3 packs of maternity towels and will probably only pack one for hospital but will end up using loads more than that.

Need to get the carseat out and cleaned up, new mattress for the moses basket and more bedding too, but I'm starting to feel like I could have this baby tomorrow and not be short of the essentials.

When I had my daughter I had a growth scan at about 36 weeks and they estimated she was nearly 7lb. I went overdue so didn't even bother getting newborn stuff, figuring she would be well over 8lb. Had her at 41+5 and had to take her home swamped in a 0-3 month babygro because she was 6lb12 born!

My step-MIL asked me yesterday how long I was going to stay in hospital. Kinda dumb question really - it all depends how things go. Ideal world, I'll be out of there as soon as baby and placenta are out and I've had chance to put my clothes back on!!

Ooops, forgot to send labour vibes to those who seem to be starting off. Hope you get to meet your babies really soon xx

[Even if that does mean moving further up the list! Now 36+4]

  • I was itching to leave as soon as possible after Isaac was born - had to stay 3 days because of the emergency c-section. When we were trying to get us both discharged, some dozy midwife asked if I wouldn't prefer to stay another day "for the rest".

I found a maternity hospital the least restful place ever! The second night, Isaac was awake almost all night, not having worked out the diurnal cycle at that point. At 5.30am, we both went to sleep. At 6.15am, some idiot woke me up to offer me breakfast. I reckon waking someone up who has a newborn baby should be a hanging offence.....

I have those except the nursing bra, don't even know where to begin with them, my boobs haven't changed at all just now so still wearing the same bras just bought some comfier t shirt bras.

Our nct teacher has given us a list of stuff to take in the hospital bag, really need to get it out and have a look and actually start packing it!

I had the acid thing last night had to prop myself up and suck a rennie tablet, and getting it again now, its not very nice. Ive also the past couple of weeks done some burps and sick comes up in my mouth, gross! Felt really sick going round the supermarket today. Ive given up any hope of nausea going before the birth!
  • The advantage of a maternity bra is that you can unclip the cup, the clip being at the top of the cup where the strap starts. It's an awful lot handier than trying to wriggle out of a normal bra to feed the baby. And easier to put pads in, too, which is another thing you'll need, however you feed the baby, as you'll leak milk either way.

I bought the £6 one in Aldi in a bigger size than normal as I figured its only £6 if it doesnt fit in a couple of months!

    Hello ladies :)
Spoke to our decorator and he said it will be a fortnight before he can get out to us, was hoping it would have been sooner but never mind should still be done in plenty time.

Had a lovely long walk with dog today but I'm all stiff now, I hate that I get stiff as often, I've always had some joint pain but I now get stuck all the time like half way standing up. My back gets painful a lot too so I have been having baths or just lying in bed.

Trying to gather hospital bag things but stuck on what I need for ME.. nighties, slippers ? toiletries... what else ? Gonna get a handheld fan..snacks and drinks nearer the time..

Ive been really stiff after sitting down for a while. I get up and my back is so painful at the bottom, Ive had it at night too, along with the hip and pelvic pain! Thank goodness Im finishing work in 2 weeks!
