SmlSave, he'll have to! It's frustrating as things seem to be taking forever, I am having to chase everything up. For instance, the sofas we were told were in stock but at a different branch so they would be delivered the next week. Then I get a letter in the post saying the sofa is being made abroad and will take up to 17 weeks! I rang to complain/cancel and they tried to tell me I couldn't cancel the order at all. Head office got involved and suddenly it will be delivered within 2 weeks. I chased it up again today and head office have managed to get it delievered this Thursday. How can you go from 17 weeks to 2 days?! I was almost crying on the phone!

I am just really conflicted about bf. I can't explain why though, maybe it'll come naturally and I should stop worrying. Maybe I just don't want to put pressure on myself knowing that alot of people struggle to bf. That way I can't 'fail'? I'm stubborn and awkward! The more people tell me about the benefits of bf and why it's so important make me less likely to want to do it.

SmlSave, would you be expressing or using formula with the bottle? Last night the midwife was even against expressing milk :(

    Afternoon all,

lush You must be sooo happy to have your bf back home. Good to hear you might get a tour of the hospital.

Vicky As others have said they seem to vary so much place to place! Its worth talking to your midwife to see what they offer on the nhs.
Off to our first NCT session tomorrow night, so will update after that. I'm really looking forward to getting oh more involved.

SmlSave what reason did they give you for the no? I've got to wait till 36 weeks to see if I'll be accepted. Apparently its like finding a willi wonka golden ticket!

I think bf is a completely personal choice and you shouldn't let anyone force you into either bf or bottle feeding.
I'm open to bf and would like to give it a go. If I struggle I'm going to head to a local bf cafe/ ring one of the support lines/ hassle you lovely ladies :D first but if its just not working then I'll switch to bottle.

afm...Moses basket mattress arrived today, so if baby did make a very early appearance we're ready with somewhere for bubs to sleep!
Feeling very uncomfortable, looking forward to a good stretch at yoga tonight!

Faerie, try not to get stressed by bf/not bf. Either way, your baby will be fine.

You need to do what's right for you. Personally, I think it's great to have a go at bf (because otherwise how do you know if you'll take to it?), but there's no requirement to try if the thought is making you so stressed. What baby really needs is a happy, relaxed Mum.

Hi ladies. Been feeling rubbish the last few days with cold gunk I cannot shift but the dr has given me some antibiotics today and made me very happy! Fingers crossed I will be back to normal soon.

Personally it never occurred to me not to breastfeed, so I'm probably not qualified to comment much! However, I would like to say to those worried about doing it in public, you really don't have to wap your bits out for all to see! There are loads of covers if you want to be very sure but I usually used nursing tops where you can just get the relevant bit available and the baby covers you while they feed. I'm pretty sure I never flashed anyone (other than close friends/relatives at home where I was a lot less careful!). Also, you can build up slowly by feeding in front of people you feel comfortable with at home not go straight to sitting on the high street :-)

The reason bf is covered more in antenatal classes is that there is a 'technique' to it and you do need to know what to expect, as well as the 'breast is best' angle. Unfortunately, if you do have problems breastfeeding the help you can get from the nhs is very variable and a lot of people stop because of issues that could be solved with the right help early on. If you want to feed and have any problems go to laleche league or nct etc, they really can make the difference.

And after that waffle - not doing classes this time (2nd baby) but we did do nct with our first. I think it helped hubby know what to expect (although he did genuinely ask me a few days before she was born how long it would be before her eyes opened as his only experience was of kittens and puppies...). One of the things that is always said about the nct is that you make a great group of friends from it. Somehow we ended up with a class that didn't keep contact at all - out of 5 babies only 2 came to the reunion and I've only seen them in passing at the supermarket once since then - our babies are 2!

Slimming World ~ trying to get back on the wagon...
  • Bit of a strange day today. Slept like a log last night- first time in weeks plus I didnt need any extra painkillers in night or water bottles for my SPD.
Today my pain level and ability to walk has been so much better, hardly needed my crutches- I'd go as far as to say its remarkable LOL.
Now I'm not counting my chickens that tomorrow will be the same. The only thing I've done different is go on the gym ball for 20 mins last night.
Now has the gym ball done something wonderful to my pelvis? Has the baby 'dropped'- I'm 35+5?
Hope this lasts as its the best I've felt in weeks.

Happy due date indeed! Had a few twinges last night (waves of period-like cramps) which were mild but close together... They stopped after an hour and nothing today. Babies in my family are usually late, and midwife advised first babies are often late, so will try not to get hung up about going overdue. Though if my hips (and now feet!) continue aching I might be longing to get him out!

Had a very chilled day today, went out mid afternoon with mum to collect new nursery curtains and then she hung them for me... Very pleased with them! Only bits missing from nursery now are wall pictures and the hooks I bought need to be put up (though we'll probably do this once we're using the room and know exactly where we want them). We don't have cot bedding yet either, but he'll be in Moses basket to begin with so that can happen later...

Have a nice evening all x
