Argh, I'm so tired but baby won't let me sleep! :( So much for sleepless nights only starting once the baby's actually here!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Eeepp bf is back in the UK; he has a flight from London to Manchester and then the drive home and then I have him back :-)

Antenatal class yesterday was OK, not amazing but OK. Pretty sure I'm the youngest. MIL came with me which meant I had someone to giggle with - it was supposed to be all about labouring but it wasn't anything new to me and they didn't even mention tearing etc so it was more 'heres four pain relief options, here's some equipment to look at, here's a creepy looking doll being 'birthed' from a knitted womb to show cervix dilation' not sure how it lasted almost two hours!

That said two good things did come out of it; I learnt there's an emergency drop off for the labour ward, it looks a bit like a pair of lay bys but you can leave the car there for a bit and then through the door is a lift directly to the labour ward so you don't have to walk through the main entrance in pain and feel stared at etc and don't have to navigate through the maze of 'gates' inside (our hospital is like an airport). MIL and i went and found it as we had to pass the hospital anyway to go home. And secondly the midwife running it took my details and is going to ring the labour ward for us today to arrange a bend in the rules so we can go and see the labour ward. They don't do tours anymore (just a pants online thing) but she agrees with us that it would be better for us to know where we are going and check out that bf's chair Etc will fit in the rooms!

Glad you've nearly got your OH back lush lifesaver! And that the hospital are going to do a bit better to accommodate your wishes... I was really reassured by a hospital tour when we went.

I think I had a taster of early labour/ Braxton hicks last night.... Had a relaxing evening, sudoku in bed after dinner then lights out 10.30. At about 10.45 I had a wave of period-like pain that was strong enough to register as 'significant' but mild enough that I could breathe through it and stay in bed. It happened about three or four times more over the next hour then stopped and I dropped off to sleep. Have told hubby to keep phone nearby at work today just in case!

Not enjoying the forecasts of a cold snap, we had a January wedding and avoided snow, hoping snow will stay away from the birth too!

  • Hello Ladies, I have added myself to the list (I hope I have done it right). I am due on the 14th May 2014 and have a baby girl. I cannot believe I have actually made it onto this list. Seems like only yesterday I was saying hello at 4 weeks on the less than 12 weeks thread.

I hope everyone is feeling well. I have been on holiday for the past week in Lanzarote. It was absolutely lovely to chill out, relax and read in the sunshine but it still seemed to take it out of me. Can't believe how tired I seem to get. Was lovely to have a final couples holiday though xxx
  • Hi everyone!

Lush I wouldn't worry about being the youngest - I was 22 when I did classes when I was having DD1 - the youngest by a good few years.
My NCT girls are now some of my best friends and our ages don't come into it - what matters is that we're at the same stage in life. I met a mum at toddler group who is 16 years older than me but I don't ever think about the age gap now.

Teamlowe thanks for sharing re bottle feeding - I quite agree that there is no "one size fits all"

Congrats Mrs Bunny and Banbisbelle! Lovey news and hope LO is out of unit soon.

Birdie your OH sounds like a really sweet man, hope you had a lovey evening

Fran hope the snow stays away too - winter babies do bring a unique kind of worry re getting to he hospital!

Afm we are both doing amazingly and bf ing going well albeit almost constant! We are going to soft play this morning so hoping DD1 will burn off some energy and we can all nap this afternoon!

You just know if you don't pack a bag it will be s%ds law and happen on your moving day! Well that's the type of thing to happen to me! I'd have to pack my bag early just not to tempt fate ha ha! :)

The last thing on my list was to get a key cut for mum so she could come feed the cat when I was in hospital. I had the key cut at lunchtime and my waters broke at half three. So maybe leave one thing left to do until full term lol

  • Just a quick question for those ladies doing antenatal classes. What is the difference between the NHS classes and the NCT classes. I do need to talk to the midwife about the NHS ones but would love some advice from ou lovely ladies who have actually experienced them xxx
