Kerri - was it you that hadn't wanted a sweep all the way along? MW said that as my appt with her is 39+6 she can't do it that day (or she'd be 'struck off' - I'm sure it's an exaggeration but still...), but I could go to her clinic on the day after (as well, rather than instead?!) at another location when I'm exactly 40wks for it. I'm in 2 minds, frankly... Don't fancy the idea at all (which is ridiculous in some ways, given how much I got mauled during the arduous TTC journey :p), but am getting increasingly enthusiastic about getting this baby out ;)
Yes it was me that was adamant not to have one. I changed my mind last minute because OH goes back to work on Monday and I don't want to go in labour without him here...my biggest fear is him being over an hour away and things to progress too quick for him to see her arrival. However, I've had a headache and flu-like symptoms since about an hour afterwards. I think the sweep must have caused a surge in hormones that's played my sinuses up. I normally get sinus pressure/dry eyes when it's the time of the month and it feels exactly the same. Cervix is sore too and baby moving her hands is hurting it more grrr...hope it's doing something! The actual sweep itself was uncomfortable rather than painful, just remembered to breathe properly and felt a bit undignified but I'll be naked having a baby soon so can't get prissy about these things.

Watching Jonathon Creek and eating pizza this evening, lots left over for tomorrow. I've had a feeling about baby being a Friday or Saturday child for some time, so fingers crossed. Sorry I'm dragging it out ladies :p

Aaargh we love Jonathan Creek in this house! Hope your gut feeling was right and also that it's *this* Friday or Saturday :o I didn't realise DH had quite such a commute, my hubby walks to work in 25 mins but we have a tenner by the front door in case he needs an emergency taxi home one day!

Lily I hope all is going well for you and your little family.

BZ it seems crazy doesn't it, like due dates are really so specific that <24 hrs would make a difference! I think it was Kerri who said in USA they start at 38/39 weeks (I expect that is because of their measly mat leave allowance)

I have a MW appointment on the day I'm 40 weeks so will be having a sweep then. I usually walk over for the appointment (about a mile or so) but will take a few pennies in case I want a taxi back.

AFM.... Had a lovely day today catching up with a friend. We went to soft play with the little ones and I was up and down the cargo nets, and down the bumpy slide chasing DD! Obviously still comfy enough for baby to stay put though - although I am still only 38+2 so not too impatient yet. It would be very inconvenient to go into labour before DH's party on Sunday anyway :rotfl:
  • Hi all,
Hope everyone is well. I kept myself occupied last night by googling lots of random things (as you do at 3.30am) when I came across this, it didn't half make me chuckle - http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1808-december-2012-playroom/2598861-25-signs-labor-approaching-not.html

Not to mention I then took a "Are you going into labour" quiz, that too made me chuckle. The Internet is a bit mad. :rotfl:

Rummer - hope everything goes well hun.

Ellie - what a fantastic birth story, glad you and little one are ok.

Kerri - glad your sweep went ok. Fingers crossed she arrives soon :D

Had my growth scan today and little lady was every bit as fine as I predicted she would be. They've estimated her at weighing 5lbs8oz and considering im 36 weeks I think that is pretty good :D shes dropped lower and seems to be a bit snug in there for her.

Thanks for birth story Ellie, you sound like superwoman!
Sorry for bad customer service Squ1rrel, I fel sensitive to these things too but it's usually just them having a bad day.
Hope baby comes tomorrow or Sat kerri.
I'm feeling really crappy just now. Ambulance came to get me and there was room for my mum so that was great. We got there an hour early and then appointment was 20 min late, not the end of the world. Has the scan and consultant came in and said baby is small overall but abdomen is larger which could be down to chromosome abnormalities, we won't know til he's here (apparently I'll be given a date for c section tomorrow). So I'm fretting and stressed.... no point getting too wound up until I have something definite to worry about. Sorry to bring yous down. Whatever will be will be and I will cope!

You really are going through the mill Jox. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing. I would be feeling crappy too if someone told me that but without a proper conclusion.

At least tomorrow you'll have a date to focus on!

Lily how are you getting on?!

I really don't want to ask this question but feel I need to ... has anyone else had pain going to the loo ( number 2) it's not a constipated pain or piles, was just a very uncomfortable sharp painful feeling somewhere in my tummy, went away straight after...

and on a nicer subject, going pram shopping next week :)

Ah so i'm not the only one, thank god! I had a google and it seems a few have experienced it.. some say sitting upright seems to help it. I honestly felt like my insides were going to burst.

They say all dignity goes out the window the moment you enter the maternity ward... think mines is half way gone already !
  • Lilymay - Nice to see you. Hope you and Clover are doing well.

Jox - Don't know what what to say but wishing you and your baby all the best.

Squirrel - Good for you for complaining. I am rubbish at it but my OH is way more assertive and is quick to demand better service. He always seems to get some kind of apology or discount/freebie for the inconvienence. Obviously a skill I need to learn.

BZ - I remeber the side effects of metformin very well from TTC. Luckily this time its laxative properties are very welcome:p but the gas and tummy ache not so much. Its worth it to be able to eat again tho'. Hopefully my body will adjust quickly.

Rummer - Hope it is going well.
