Urgh, I've been up since 4am with stomach pain and terrible indigestion.
OH woke up even though I tried not to disturb him, he heard me in pain and was worried it was baby. I assured him that it wasn't that although I did have a sore tummy so he sat up with me til he went to work.
I finally managed a bit of sleep after a glass of milk,
Not long woke again and was sick but it was like something out of the exorcist !! I'm glad though as it's made my tummy better - in 2 minds wether I go to work though as I'm still really tired and fragile feeling
On the other hand, I've been off loads during this pregnancy and don't want to trigger my mat leave because of it.
Think I'll try sleep some more and perhaps go in a bit later0 -
Hope you feel better soon - how many weeks are you when if you have sickness it triggers maternity leave?3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Morning all
Had our first NCT class last night, was brilliant!
Con hope work isn't too bad today.
Claire I agree, I'm just going to take the advice I think is relevant & leave the rest
Picking my parents up from the airport on Sunday... Cannot wait!!!! XFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
Yes that's exactly it Kynthia. You need to be confident in yourself and not take stuff as gospel as every baby is different!
Injection -she gave us a sheet of the pros & cons. I think my stance will be to not have it, but if after x amount of time (depending how I'm feeling at the time) the placenta hasn't come out then ask for it. There were some disadvantages on the sheet she gave us (studies showing blood loss & possible contribution to colic for baby) and there was something about if you had the injection the midwife would tug on the cord to pull it out or something which grossed us all out so would rather it came out naturally if possible!
Our nct teacher says though don't worry you can put one thing in your birth plan but can change your mind anytime. I think again there's no wrong or right and you might get to the birth, your baby is there & you just want it all done!
Becca that's good you must feel relieved they're back! Glad you enjoyed your class!0 -
17 more office days remaining and my replacement starts on Monday... Going to make the best of the last day of 'normality' today before getting into training mode.
I finally booked our NHS ante-natal classes (NCT in the middle of nowhere here plus can't really justify cost) there are 5 x 2 hour sessions over 5 weeks... Seems a little extreme! Getting a bit jealous of the NCT ladies here now!Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Re the injection, I had a long chat with a close friend who's a GP (and has three kids) about this before I had DD1. She was firmly in favour of the injection because she said the risks of haemorrhage are just too serious. True, it's a rare complication, but why expose yourself to the possibility that you'll need to be rushed to an operating theatre when you don't have to be?
Obv YMMV, but I always find it interesting to hear what choices medical professionals make for themselves in these situations.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Really looking forward to starting my nct classes next week now after reading how much you ladies are enjoying them.
Re the placenta, not even thought about that yet tbh!
My mums told me that I was born so quickly that she "closed up" and had a retained placenta. Only then did they give her an epidural.
We do a lot of the massage/breathing exercises at yoga, but it will be good for oh to get told what he needs to do!
Eiteews That's not too bad. We've got 4 x 2hr sessions on evenings and then a 6 hour Saturday session!
We didnt really have the option of free nhs ones, otherwise we might not have done nct either.
welcome missbunbury
Need to make a note of the aldi baby event or I'll forget to go. I bought some of the cellular blankets last time. Might get a few other bits including the bottle starter kit and microwave steriliser, will have a look online first to compare prices. Oh and measure the microwave first!!Mini me due March 2014

Hi all, welcome newbies!
I wrote a longish post yesterday and lost it!
Just to join the discussion re injection to help deliver the placenta, the benefit of not cutting/ injecting to deliver straight away is so that nutrients continue to support baby in his first few minutes. I really like this idea and in an ideal world would leave new baby on cord (on my tummy) until placenta delivers naturally, this is what's in my birth plan. However, if I've just had a long or stressful labour I can see that I might prefer to have the injection so that the placenta is delivered quicker and easier and the birth experience is over sooner. So it's in the birth plan to leave it but to discuss with midwives at the time.
Hip has been sore last few days, aggravated I think by lots of walking: had a good trip to asda/ high street on Tuesday, met a friend for shopping/ lunch on Wednesday, went for coffee and wander round a nearby town with mum on Thursday. Have found a hot water bottle on my hip really soothing and waking up this morning it feels better than it did.
Baby is due in Tuesday and I'm already getting lots of texts/ emails! It's lovely that people are thinking of us but I might struggle next week if baby goes overdue (my prediction) and the messages continue.
Had a chit chat with hubby the other night re baby's first few days... I am concerned about feeling overwhelmed if we have lots of visitors quickly, and in particular hubby's sister who is special needs and will have excitement levels/ lack of understanding of a young teenager. I usually need a bit of patience to get on well with her, and so would prefer to have just the grandparents while I'm recovering but I know his parents do very little without sister tagging along... I think we'll just have to play by ear, depending how long we're in hospital, how my recovery is etc, at least I have told hubby how I feel. I just don't want to be putting off a visit from his parents because I can't deal with his sister... I find it surprising how people on tv so often seem to have their whole extended families round the hospital bed as soon as the baby has arrived, no thanks!
Well that was another long post, hope everyone's well xfran-o0 -
I've taken the day off, managed to eat then the indigestion started again and I was sick again, was only cereal too
have called doctors and they said to phone them back in the afternoon and see if I can take anything for it, it seems as soon as the normal pregnancy sickness kind of went (although still get it when I'm hungry ) this has appeared. I'm just destined to be a sickie ! I've taken to carrying dog
Poo bags at all times as never know when I'm gonna throw !
Hope your all having a much better start to your days !0
