I'll be 35 (34 on my dates) so that should be ok.
I just need to check it doesn't matter that I only had the diptheria, polio & tetanus one 3 years ago & think it lasts for 10. I can't see why but I guess I should check don't wanna be like over dosing!
The kids I look after have a habit of bumping into me or getting too close which I'm always on edge on because of my bump so don't want to be shielding my arm too plus they aren't considerate when it comes to holding stuff, being careful around me etc if I was in an office I'd just get it done now!0 -
We're using cheeky wipes reusable wipes, they're fab for anyone considering reusable wipes. I stopped using the disposables in favour of the reusables and can't wait to use reusable nappies when she's a little bit bigger, just feels a lot cleaner if that makes any sense? Less chemicals in her sensitive skin
Sounds good.
Can anyone remember what the wipes were called that people were talking about on here a couple of weeks ago? I know people said they were hard to get hold of but really good.0 -
Ouch ouch ouch.....I'm being battered tonight!!! Baby has had a mad afternoon and evening of partying.....I bet I'm black n blue inside! He better calm down before I go to bed in an hour, I have a busy day tomorrow.

lol I used to work with kids... definately not the gentlest when you have had a jab. I worked with kids with special needs and some of them were also hitters.
In an office now though so it's much different.0 -
We'll my antenatal class was hilarious tonight!! It started off a bit somber talking about assisted births and interventions etc but the latter half was all about breastfeeding.
Out came another knitted boob but then we were shown how to latch on with a zebra hand puppet!! I was in tears laughing at how surreal the whole experience was!! I do really like our teacher (if that's what I should call her), learnt so much more about breastfeeding than I did when I had the health visitor around. Made it seem much more realistic and went into lots more detail good and bad. Definitely feel more well informed than previously.
Oh and there was also a knitted nappy and a selection of knitted poos to reflect the first few days!!!
Last class next week - were changing nappies, can't wait!! actually think I might miss it once it's over!! X0 -

Yeah I used to be in an office (and not sure which job direction lll take after mat leave) and it was a lot easier with stuff like that!
Thanks Locky I need to find a pack to order before I forget again!
Squirrel you have that funniest classes!
At nct this week we did massage -DH annoyed me by doing it too hard so glad we've got that established before I'm in labour! Then did some breathing exercises in the dark with candles and music, to see what we liked & didn't like, like did it just make you laugh or did you find it relaxing etc then we did all about the best positions in labour & how gravity helps and basically lying on a bed is the worst. Then we got info about the third stage & pros & cons of injection for the placenta. All this info is really useful for my birth plan.
Next week were covering pain relief.
It's funny not in a big headed way but I feel like I know so much more than a lot of the other ladies there. Don't know if it's because I did child development at school & been around babies and kids all my life, baby sat as a teenager etc, watched tons of tv programmes and read forums so maybe I'm the weird one, but a couple of people hadn't heard of basic stuff and I was like how can you not have heard of that & be 7 or 8 months pregnant! And I still feel like I have so much to learn before the birth! Sometimes it panics me a bit because I like to know all the details.
It also makes me realise how vulnerable you are if you don't read up on things or have friends with babies with prior experience. For example I've had 2 friends had terrible comments from idiot health visitors but I feel much more confident to stand up for myself in situations like that by having knowledge that they've passed onto me. I can see why someone would believe anything someone like that tells them otherwise - and my friend who had a baby last year was given totally different advice on feeding from 2 midwives - I mean how confusing is that for a new mum!
It's almost like you need to arm yourself with knowledge so you can make your own decisions & feel confident in what you're doing. That's why these forums are so good as after the birth we can all learn from each other! I've learnt so much from people on here.0 -
Hello ladies! I was on MSE Pregnancy Club 25, had Alice in November 2012 and just found out I am 16 weeks with my totally unplanned second baby! So I am back, hope everyone is good, I assume you are all strangers as I must be the only one mad enough to have two so close together! Will have a read back to see what we are chatting about...0

Claire I agree with you about needing to know enough to ignore some advice. I definitely wouldn't say I'm an expert as I've not done child development or been around babies loads. However I tend to retain knowledge and read up on things, plus having younger siblings and loads of cousins that I babysat and an understanding that chaos will reign and that all babies are different. Therefore I feel like I will only take advice that feels right to me, and that babies have been around a long time so what previous generations did can't have been too terrible.
One of the ladies in my NCT class seemed like she didn't have background knowledge and was taking everything the teacher said as gospel. Now I'm not saying the teacher was saying anything wrong, just that this lady wasn't realising that there may be deviations or leeway, or that some babies are different, or that some things are approximate or that others think there's a better way. She seemed very factual and I could see her getting stressed out if early motherhood didn't comply with these rigid notes she'd made.
Mrsbunny, I'm regularly feeling like the baby is squirming or rotating in a very painful way on my insides. It makes me worried about how it will be as the baby grows even bigger.
Squ1rrel, what was your take on the injection then as I thought the consensus was why have it if there's no family history or reason to think you need it? However a couple of weeks later many of the class started to say they wanted it as why risk haemorrhaging if you don't need to.
Welcome missbunbury and congratulations.
Only one week of work to go, which is good as it's getting really painful walk each step and the commute is intolerable. Also we're signing contracts on the house tomorrow, so we're so close to getting the house!Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Kynthia, I think it was Claire that talked about the injection however it has been briefly mentioned at our classes and by the midwife.
In my opinion I'd rather have it, as if there's nothing else wrong I don't really want to wait around for the placenta to come out - which could be anywhere from 10 minutes to something like 2 hours later apparently. I don't think there's any major side effects from it, I just want to get that bit over and done with and get on with looking after baba! I know plenty of women who choose not to have it and wait for it to happen naturally but I'm impatient!! I'll read more about it before my final decision though as I want to be prepared.0
