bought some more neutral baby things at asdas event :)

Is there clothing in the event in store? It's not that clear on the website.
What did you get? (Not that I *should* be buying anymore.....)

afm, really uncomfortable at work today. Had a bad night (up for the loo 3 times) and am really shattered.
Its my own fault though, really shouldn't have had that huge milkybar sundae when I was out for dinner with the girls last night. :D
 Mini me due March 2014
  • Durham girl looking forward to hearing your news :-)

BZ well it sounds like you did very well, I am fairly sure I will need an epidural if I end up being induced as he drip is said to make contractions intense! Sorry if I missed it but what were the antibiotics for?

Birdie if you want to be a bit more restful, kneeling leaning forwards onto the ball with your legs either side of it (so a wide squat position)is meant to be good

Jemb sorry you've got a tardy baby too!

And finally kerri .... Thanks for the good thoughts but nada from me! Had a lovely day today though with dd - baked banana bread and did painting then had a walk over to Asda cafe for lunch lol (it's been really wet but it dried up for a few mins and that's as far as we made it - I'm not driving ATM!) and a 2.5 hr nap each!

    Roll on Sunday at 10am!!!

Good luck to all of you who are on induction dates, due-dates, or beyond! Though with each of you who gives birth I get closer to the top of the list, not liking the prospect of breaking single figures!

Feeling pretty sorry for myself today. Thought I'd have a really easy afternoon sitting on the sofa making some wedding invites for a friend, turns out a huge bump really gets in the way of the paper trimmer and adding in really sore swollen feet just makes things ten times worse!

I feel your pain Jenni-fer! Pregnancy and papercraft don't seem to mix well! :o I'm currently having a little break from making some cards (trying to make a big stash so I don't have to worry about making cards for people this year!) as baby doesn't like me sitting upright for too long- never mind even thinking about hunching over the table! :p I have been sat on my ball at the table instead of on a chair though so that's good! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Kind of but not lots in our local one, the packs of baby gros/vests etc you are getting 1 extra in though so getting a bit more for your money.

I got two packs of bibs, a pack of babygros, a towel some nappies and a blanket. Sis in law got me the johnstons box and some other lil babygros, I can only buy neutral as I'm team Yellow so kind of restricted a little.

Reg my arm being sore - it was after the flu jab so got them to do my right side instead this time as been sleeping on my left.

I had my 31 week appt today with the gp - another one lol.

She measured me as 'around 30cm' which means I would have grown 4cm in 2 weeks. So I think that basically the tape measure thing only works if the same person measures you each time because I cant believe that.

So Id be willing to bet when I see the midwife at 34 weeks I'm like 31cm or something.

Morrisons had buy 1 get 2 packs of huggies baby wipes on today, but I figured we already have 1 pack of sensitive wipes, 1 pack of johnsons wipes from the emmas diary thing and I want to get those was it cloth/bamboo or whatever it was ones that people were talking about on here before, so that will be 3 packs already, and I dont really want to buy more incase the baby is allergic to something plus I think you just use cotton wool and water at the start & Im pretty sure there will be another baby event before all that runs out?!

DH painted the first coat of ceiling paint in the nursery today. Doing the 2nd coat tomorrow, then can hopefully get 2 coats of wall paint on at the weekend and I can help with that as its the special non toxic stuff I bought (although I love the smell of paint right now lol). Then we'll just have the gloss paint to do in the week next week, which hopefully means on Sunday 2nd we can start on the furniture which is what Im excited about!

I need to book my whooping cough jab too but might leave it til Im on maternity leave in 3 weeks so I dont have a sore arm whilst at work.

I'm sure my mw says they recommend it between a certain number of weeks ( although can't remember which) I know when I was there last week at 29 weeks she told me to try book it within the next 3 weeks so by 32 weeks? Not sure if it was just to suit them or if there's an actual reason though.

My arm isn't bad, only sore if it gets bumped.

    Whooping cough vaccination in pregnancy

There's a lot of whooping cough around at the moment and babies who are too young to start their vaccinations are at greatest risk.
Pregnant women can help protect their babies by getting vaccinated against whooping cough (pertussis) when they are 28-38 weeks pregnant.
Why are pregnant women advised to have the whooping cough vaccine?
Is the whooping cough vaccine safe in pregnancy?
What are the side effects of the whooping cough vaccine?
    What is whooping cough?
Should I be concerned about whooping cough?
But aren't babies vaccinated against whooping cough to protect them?
So, how can I protect my baby?
Which whooping cough vaccine will I be given?
Will the whooping cough vaccine in pregnancy give me whooping cough?
When should I have the whooping cough vaccine?
Will my baby still need to be vaccinated against whooping cough at 2 months old?
Can I have the whooping cough vaccine at the same time as the flu jab?
How can I get the whooping cough vaccination?
I was vaccinated against whooping cough as a child, do I have to be vaccinated again?
Why are pregnant women advised to have the whooping cough vaccine?

Getting vaccinated while you’re pregnant may help to protect your baby from developing whooping cough in their first few weeks of life. The immunity you get from the vaccine will pass to your baby through the placenta. Babies are not routinely vaccinated against whooping cough until they are two months old.
Is the whooping cough vaccine safe in pregnancy?

    vaccination-whooping-cough_171x200_CPM8TP.jpg

It's understandable that you might have concerns about the safety of having a vaccine during pregnancy, but there's no evidence to suggest that the whooping cough vaccine is unsafe for you or your unborn baby.
The vaccine, called Repevax, has not been tested on pregnant women because clinical trials don’t usually involve pregnant women, which is why the manufacturer's information leaflet says the vaccine should not be used in pregnant women.
But similar vaccines have routinely been given to pregnant women in America, France and Germany for the past few years, and there's been no evidence of any risk to health of the mum or the baby.
In terms of risk and benefit, it's considered safer for you to have the vaccine than to risk your newborn catching whooping cough.
Read more about the safety of Repevax.
What are the side effects of the whooping cough vaccine?

You may have some mild side effects such as swelling, redness or tenderness where the vaccine is injected in your upper arm just as you would with any vaccine. These only last a few days. Serious side effects are extremely rare.
Read more about the side effects of Repevax.
    What is whooping cough?

Whooping cough (medically known as pertussis) is a serious infection that causes long bouts of coughing and choking, making it hard to breathe. The 'whoop' is caused by gasping for breath after each bout of coughing, though babies don’t always make this noise.
Read more about whooping cough symptoms.
Should I be concerned about whooping cough?

Whooping cough is a serious illness that can lead to pneumonia and brain damage. Most babies with whooping cough will need hospital treatment, and when whooping cough is very severe they may die.
You may have thougt that whooping cough had died out, but since 2010 it's been on the increase.
In the first seven months of 2012, 235 babies under 12 weeks old had whooping cough and 13 babies died from it.
Watch a video describing how nasty whooping cough can be
But aren't babies vaccinated against whooping cough to protect them?

Yes, they are, but the babies that have been getting whooping cough are generally too young to have started their normal vaccinations so they are not protected against the disease.
So, how can I protect my baby?

The only way you can help protect your baby from getting whooping cough in their first few weeks after birth is by having the whooping cough vaccination yourself while you are pregnant.
After vaccination, your body produces antibodies to protect against whooping cough. You will then pass some immunity to your unborn baby.
Which whooping cough vaccine will I be given?

As there is no whooping cough-only vaccine, the vaccine you'll be given also protects against polio, diphtheria and tetanus. It's the same as the 4-in-1 vaccine, the pre-school booster, that's routinely given to children before they start school.
Will the whooping cough vaccine in pregnancy give me whooping cough?

The whooping cough vaccine is not a ‘live’ vaccine. This means it doesn’t contain whooping cough, and can’t cause whooping cough in you, or in your baby.
When should I have the whooping cough vaccine?

The best time to get vaccinated to protect your baby is between 28 and 38 weeks of pregnancy, with between 28 and 32 weeks the ideal time.
You can still have the vaccine after 38 weeks but this may not protect your baby from whooping cough, as your body might not have enough time to produce the antibodies before your baby is born. However, being vaccinated after 38 weeks will help protect you from whooping cough and from passing it on to your baby.

We're using cheeky wipes reusable wipes, they're fab for anyone considering reusable wipes. I stopped using the disposables in favour of the reusables and can't wait to use reusable nappies when she's a little bit bigger, just feels a lot cleaner if that makes any sense? Less chemicals in her sensitive skin
