  • Yay. In London having first been delayed for 2 hours after yesterday's air traffic chaos. Visited OH's parents and that's been about it. They gave us an envelope containing our Christmas present. Wonder what it could be. Anyhow, am dog tired. Hope everyone is having good times.

  • Back to reality with a Big Bang yesterday as was on the road at 6.30. Managed to fill up with diesel en route back from dublin that prob saved 15p a litre. Stopped at s'bugs and spent £52 making use of my £10 off a £50 shop voucher. Some year, when the desk is clear, I'll log onto bank and transfer the money. Right now, everywhere is a bit chaotic. It's starting to get me down. Like the rest of the world, I need more time. Also returned a dress yesterday so money back to the credit card. Just checked, need to get writing cards as today is last day for second class and I promised myself I'd manage that this year. Hope everyone's feeling festive. Take care.

  • Yesterday, I declared f*ck it and! guess what? The world didn't grind to a halt. I pulled the plug on bidding for additional work that we would have struggled to deliver. I also decided I was going to the firm's Christmas lunch this afternoon and I'm finishing Monday lunchtime until 05 January. I got the bulk of my Christmas cards into the post with second class stamps. Yay. I found two inspired extras that will make certain presents and I ducked out of a Christmas reception as I didn't want to be there. I submitted a claim for a health care refund that will bring in a much needed £150 and I chased up a cashback offer on my freezer that gets me an extra £50. Dd wrapped all the work related gifts so these are being delivered today and I'm heading early to buy sausage rolls to line my staff's tummies as the meal today includes a free bar from 1 to 6. I may regret not submitting that bid come January but right now, I can't. There's more to life. Oh, I also transferred £18 to the mortgage. £13 of vouchers and a TT and looked at the balances. Apart from actual Christmas dinner, the spending has stopped and we should just about squeeze through January though it will be a bit of a struggle. Lots to do over the break but it's stuff I want to have sorted for the new year so only pressure is from me. Hope everyone is finding some Christmas spirit out there.

  • Christmas lunch was better than expected. Yesterday we went to a gathering organised by friends. Couldn't be fussed initially but in hindsight, am glad we made the effort. Small amount of spends with top up shop so that's a positive. Also, got nearly one room sorted and laundry done. Really struggling with a slightly smaller freezer but reckon it'll help the January budgeting. Am gonna run dd into work in town at four today and drag oh round the last few hours of the Christmas market. Hopefully we will snag a bargain or two. Today I am grateful for
