  • Hey INOD - I had meant to ask you, with regard to that SOOOPER choccy torte recipe, you so very kindly posted on my thread - do you think that it would be something that would go down well on the Grocery Challenge thread - over on Old Style - to be added to their recipe index? I'm thinking that it is super easy, and can be made reasonably cheaply or super expensive if you prefer and is a great dish for 'this time of year'. What do you think? I reckon if Rosieben were still with us, she'd have got her butterfly net to it and scooped it up pronto :D The only thing I would want to know if I was making it for a special occasion or I was learning baking would be what size pan to use. What do you reckon? A regular Victoria sandwich pan - pref with a removable base???

  • Hi Greying, you can use an 11in flan type tin though I prefer the deeper spring loaded sponge tin. It's a fairly cheap make for a spectacular product (I got the recipe from a chef) but I've never been brave enough to venture onto grocery challenge thread. Btw, are you familiar with 15s? Another super easy fairly cheap dessert.

  • TGI one day closer to the weekend. Work is ridiculous at the minute but we are getting through what we need to which is great. Yesterday was an 11 hour stint and today, even though I have a big meeting, it's at two so I should get away at six. Then just have to battle the increased traffic that always happens at this time of year. MSE, nothing much to report since the weekend though spends have been moderate and any food consumed was already in the house. New freezer gets delivered on Friday so need to sort a space for that as I can't decommission the old one til there's somewhere to store the food. Unfortunately tomorrow my first meeting is 8.45. My last is 18.30-20.30 and I need to be on the road before 7 on Friday. Am hoping for an early finish Friday afternoon. Still, need to get things underway. Find one of my more presentable suits and double check my heels are in the car. Hope things are going well for everyone.

Vegging is good when work is that full on. I'm planning 2 full weeks of it :rotfl:

Clients have weird ideas sometimes - who an earth thinks it's great to have meetings at the crack of dawn or late on a Friday night wants their head testing...I've got a few of those next month.

Ooh new freezer arriving too - great time for doing an inventory and meal planning even more :D
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
  • Freezer inventory is most necessary but will probably wait until the weekend. Means we will be dancing around a freezer in the kitchen while the new one goes into its spot in utility. Will be so grateful to have something reliable in the run up to Christmas. Still, gotta be out the door shortly. Hope things are good for everyone.

  • We have moved so had to buy a new freezer and it is teeny tiny! God I miss a big freezer! I used to keep frozen fruit and soups and everything! But in the plus side we rarely have to do the inventory!

  • Hopefully, I've finally learnt my lesson and will check measurements before buying on line. The reduced price freezer is too small and is going back. That unfortunately costs £50. Have ordered a bigger one at more than twice the price but a much better product for our needs. The seal is much more protected on this one and that is what always causes us problems. In common with several others on here, I'm nervous of checking out my credit card balance. Also, our desk top had to be reconfigured and I don't look dealing with finances over wifi. Probably paranoid but better safe and all that. Spent yesterday ferrying a visiting relative around the shops and inevitably picked up some spends too. Today I did my grocery shop cashing in £14 of vouchers and getting lots of bonus nectar points. The lady in front in the queue invited me to pick up her points too as she doesn't have a card.
