  • Getting ready for work and still committed to raising the pay issue which is good. Spoke to OH and he's right behind me. I'm giving them one week to get back to me or my resignation goes in next Monday. Problem is that I've resigned at least three times before and withdrawn it when persuaded to stay. Anyhow, this time it's for sure. And you all have to remind me. Note how I'm assuming that there won't be a response. Still, I'm with the firm for now so I'd better get a wiggle on and get going. Onwards and upwards.

  • Fingers crossed it works out INOD it sounds as though you are at the point where the current situation is totally unacceptable. Well done for deciding to take positive action!

  • Issued my email to the partners last night so next Tuesday will be the day. Today I have my first counselling meeting at half three followed by a client board meeting at 5.45. Def a no mascara day.
Yesterday my problem employee resigned. He'd realised that the job wasn't for him and the personal sacrifices to do it were too much. Another one realising that life's too short. I just wish he had something else to go to as he has a young family. Still, it makes less work for me as it avoids formal performance management.

Really don't want to go in today but needs must. At least it looks like I'm getting my Wednesday off this week.

I love that you know your worth. They'd be incredibly foolish to let you go... sending positive vibes into the universe for next Tuesday.

I'm so sorry to hear how much you are going through right now and very pleased that you have a counselling appointment (now Christmas has just finished...). I went to speak to someone last week and I came out feeling a lot better just for getting it all off my chest. I'm not the best at accepting help.

I hope you find a job far less stressful, even if it means less money. We're on one wage now and it means fewer holidays and treats but it's very much doable.

My sister spends when stressed - I eat. Oh how I eat! I tried a few weeks ago to rein it in but realistically, whilst life is so difficult I'll just have to put on a bit of weight.

Sending you some lovely positive days,

    xxx

I hope the counciling went well, I'm thinking of having some my self, in fleeting moments, then it passes.

I read a quote today and thought of you - hard times are like a washing machine, they twist turn and knock us around, but we come out fresher and better than before - or something llike that!!

  • Love the quote skinny. In my case though I'm likely to come out stretched out of shape and bigger though that's down to comfort eating. Turns out yesterday was just a half hour to see which counsellor would be most appropriate. I just hope there's some type of fast track for people who are suicidal.

Today we have snow but it's too wet for it to lie. While I'm not working, I will be swinging by the office to kondo some empty boxes, bubble wrap and tissue paper to a colleague who is moving house. So, a few more things heading out the door. Apart from that I will be cooking, baking and making the fudge demanded by my 50 something year old brother as a birthday present.

  • So, the fudge was a disaster and is back on the to do list. I took Friday off as I have stacks of leave and had no meetings. Delivered food to my ill sis on Wednesday evening. Her speech is deteriorating as is her swallow so they are talking about a feeding tube. She will also be tested this week for her breathing as they need a benchmark against which to assess a deterioration.
Went to my gp on Friday about problems with my left thumb. Looks like my next car will need to be an automatic (I hate automatics) as he was able to diagnose a spread in my arthritis for which they can only offer pain relief. I know so many of you are dealing with so much more but for me, hearing that has just about tipped things over the edge. I just feel despairing and that I'm falling apart bit by bit.

Today dd treated me to a cooked breakfast and some very well chosen bits and pieces spending money she really can't afford. Haven't heard a peep from DS since the last weekend in jan when I told him off for leaving his sister stranded. Still, the day is young. Will have to go see my mum today. Wish I could duck it as it brings awkward questions and comments about ill sis. I'm not sure how much my mum is admitting to herself but she makes throw away comments such as that my sis could outlive us all. What do I say?
