INOD, my FIL had great success 40 years ago in pain reduction by following a strict no caffeine, no citrus, no dairy diet. The book he used was called "a doctor's proven cure for arthritis".
That may be too extreme for you, but do ry and remain active so you don't lose mobility.
I hope DS has redeemed himself and rung his lovely mum! What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Sending hugs............I hope your Mum didn't say anything too hard to hear.
More hugs
And I too drive an automatic (learnt in a manual) and am so glad I do.
and here is the book on amazon

Thank you as always for reaching out to help. I went to my mum's and bumped into a sister and a niece there. There was clear evidence that my mum had been up and about as flowers had been received and were in living room but she had gone back to bed and didn't want to be bothered. OH and I went for a coffee, something we rarely do then came home and I did a good two hours in the garden that barely skimmed the surface. I will be sore tomorrow not least from constantly lobbing a ball to the now exhausted daft dog.
Got a nice basket of growing flowers delivered with some chocs from DS and dd finished work early and treated us all to a takeaway. Also had a call from DS which was nice.
On an MSE note, just about remembered to pay this month's credit card bill so no interest and no late payment fees. Am in dublin tomorrow so will fill up with diesel across the border and save between 15-20 pence per litre.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hi INOD,
It sounds as if you're holding it all together but with sheer will power. I hope things get a little easier soon and to re-iterate what others have said, take care of you.

Hi v, nice to see you. The joke is I don't hold anything together. I put things in separate little boxes and pretend that they can only open one at a time. Only prob is that when they bump into each other, I have a meltdown. So, in work, I deal with work stuff and try to laugh off anything else. Not the most healthy of approaches but fit for my control freakery.
Anyhow, today is Monday and it's time to go onwards and upwards. Need to stock up water supplies for consumption in the car later and head to the office for an hour and a half. Not sure what time I will make it home but fingers crossed, it's pre soaps.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. We all need tactics to deal with the stuff that freaks us out. Sounds like a reasonable one to be. Men would call it being focused!CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

Whoops. I thought it was a week since I posted. Turned into nearly two. So, what's been happening? High point was yesterday when dd and I were in dublin cheering on the lads in green at the rugby.
That was however after working two days in dublin last week. One went very well, the other not so well. Last week I resigned a directorship that generated a fee of 236 per month for the firm and carried reputational risk for me. I feel so much better for it.
Still haven't had feedback from the counselling service about actually starting the counselling and talk about the surgery on my leg appears to have halted.
My sis continues to go downhill fast. She will next be in hospital on 01 April to have a feeding tube fitted. Last week I asked a chef I know (I'm friendlier with his wife) if he would mind cooking a meal for her that she would be able to eat and that tasted good. He totally pulled rabbits out of hats and cooked the most amazing fish pie topped with potato pur!e and a medley of veg alongside it. She was able to eat without choking and while she only had a small portion, she ate it all which is unusual.
It's a very low level thing for him to do as he's of a very high standard but he was so lovely about it wanting only to charge for ingredients. It totally restores your faith in people when someone who owes me nothing, goes out of their way to help.
Today is another sister's birthday. I dithered about what to buy but decided nothing. I have a rarely used handbag that she admires. It's polished up and waiting to be rehomed. She wouldn't feel comfortable accepting a new one and, as there's only a week between our birthdays, might feel the need to spend a comparable amount which would be better spent elsewhere. Hopefully she won't be uncomfortable with getting pre used.
Canadian sis is most probably coming home to see sick sis mid April so I'll probably take some time off to be chauffeur.
On the moneysaving side, I currently facing the dilemma of where to shop as supermarkets are falling over themselves to give me money off vouchers. Yesterday, I visited sainsbugs and bought three bottles of champagne down to £20 from £30 and three reduced bottles of wine. I then got 25% off for buying six bottles and had a voucher for £9. A well known brand of champagne in gift boxes was purchased for £13.50 per bottle and it's my sister in law's 50th this week. I find these are also acceptable for engagements, new babies, etc.
I also started the purchases for the change in purpose of the dining room and am awaiting delivery of a coffee table slash storage unit which will replace on currently in residence there. I've also ordered from the same site, two replacements for the dog's favourite ball. I got 8% cashback and these balls are just slightly too big to go under the kitchen units.
Looks like I won't get my wed off this week but will have Friday instead which will give me six days in a row without using any leave. It works well as DS is coming home for Easter but has yet to communicate his travel arrangements.
Hope the good weather is improving things for everyone. Another Monday. Most of today will be spent in the office and then delivering a half four training session not too far from home. Feeling really sluggish though. Still trying to find out DS's travel plans assuming that he's made them but he isn't picking up calls. He's a nightmare.
Today I am grateful for
Being physically able to go to work

Delivered the training to a nice group of people. It appeared to have been well received. Yesterday went ok in work with the big positive being that having to work in dublin today cancelled. It'll mean that I do a six o'clock meeting this evening but will make it home by seven rather than eight and no six o'clock start this morning. Finally caught up with DS yesterday. He believes he will be home for Easter but hasn't actually booked a flight. I could throttle him. He's not at all MSE bar keeping himself out of debt. Anyhow, better get a wiggle on ( I know I'm not the only one to miss the shaking of greying's tail feather!).
