  • Thanks peeps. All the comments really do help. Big difference between you and me Buffy is that if someone gave me a gun, I'd be able to work through a pre prepared and prioritised list of colleagues to dispose of! Brought dd with me yesterday so visit passed off ok. Have forms and I will drop into solicitor next week. Despite the temptation of a takeaway followed by ice cream, we ate from the fridge last night. OH heads home to London this weekend to return on Monday, dd is working to ten this evening so I may sneak one in just for me. Equally, I may see what lurks in the fridge.

Tried following up with the counselling service yesterday. Got a recorded message to say they are on their Christmas break but that I could call the Samaritans in the meantime. Really?

Am still fighting a constant urge to eat and to spend. It's how I respond to stress and explains why I'm on here. Think that I will draw up a list of things that are actually needed in the house and, when the spendy session kicks in, will focus on these so less chance of waste. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

  • Hi In need of direction. Looks like you are doing great with the debts and the new plan for savings. I totally get your spend and eat stress coping mechanism. I have it too. It explains why people on here often see their weight go down along with the debt. I have decided it's asking too much of myself not to buy chocolate but I will buy a small bar of G&B then if I eat the whole thing (as I do with the 100g bar) then it isn't so bad. Well done on resisting the take-away and ice-cream :T

so, where did my week go? i'm not quite sure. quite a bit of dog sitting and taxi driving. spent last saturday indulging in some retail therapy but broadly stuck to what was intended. these ranged from a lovely distressed metal chest of drawers to replace the 28 year old pine ones that were beyonf repair to a £3 kitchen roll holder as the container we had been using for 15 years (now in the chazza) would only hold a kitchen roll when it had been half used. did it bring me joy? no but i'd sooner have spent £3 on icecream than thought to replace it. Really

kind of had one disaster after another ranging from bumping my head ob the closing car boot to trying to fit a king size mattress into my car. again, what was i thinking. my sis was with me and when i commented that the exterior lights had just switched on, she replied that it was just so the utube footage would be clearer. at that, i admitted defeat and returned said mattress

on another note, my cousin's 50 year old son died suddenly. it fairly delivers a wake up call. looks like a massive heart attack which left the family totally adrift but in some ways, is better than a prolonged illness. due to this and other imminent events, i called the couselling service and now have an appt for tuesday at 3:30. they hadnt received the referral from the CPN that i was waiting to have processed since november!

also, tried to get a date for my surgery. another hitch as they haven't been advised of underlying medical condition so another delay while health questionaires are completed. sometimes it just feels like the world is against me. I received my end of feb pay with no change to what i was paid at end of january. it truly was worthwhile emailing the two senior partners about this. poor them if they think it will go away. you shouldnt cross at IT auditor with the skills to interrogate the time recording system ;)

today i looked at finances for coming month and made an OP of £74 reflected in my updated sig. was a bit panicked as there was little to carry forward but caught my self on as i realised i upped my isa monthly saving to £500 which attracts a higher interest rate than i am charged by my mortgage.

hope everyone is having a good weekend. i tore myself away from the rugby as i'm convinced i jinx Ireland every time i watch

also, just withdrew £22.01 from tcb to go to the mortgage monster.

  • Had a particularly lazy Sunday where little was done but, thanks to my reorganised bedroom, little needed done to get things into order. Did spend some time looking on line for job opportunities. Looks like the market is picking up so I'm not prepared to settle for being undervalued. Even if I end up taking a pay cut and going down the temping route. It would also put me well down the pecking order but would relieve me of a lot of responsibility and stress.
Logic would tell me that in my 40s, I'm supposed to be at peak earning capacity but sod that for a game of soldiers. I'd sooner choose to work for less than have someone devalue what I do. No one will starve and all bills will be paid.

So, Buffy, if you read this, there may be two of us trying to be brave!
    Today I'm grateful for
    My family (most of them)
Getting on top of some stuff
Being able to see what matters.

    Apply upwards, men would!
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • I would if there were the opportunities but it's a very small area.
