  • First off cos of wardrobe crises and ice, I got to the venue late. Got changed and caught up with the group but the 3 hours in the spa was a bit disjointed as there were treatments scheduled for everyone. I headed for the shower early as I didn't want to have to fight for space. Met up with one of the party who was truly lovely. She and I just clicked and ended up chatting for over an hour. We then retired to one of the bedrooms as some people were staying over and consumed nibbles, drinks and danced to pre going out Saturday night radio. Can't remember when I last did that. Dinner was a bit disappointing and the service was poor. Not what was expected from the venue and resulted in free desserts all round.
Sunday was a bit of a lazy day though I did stir myself sufficiently to buy some new bras in a sale. Decided these were needed while having my wardrobe crisis!
Today I had my new junior out on site for the first time. She is so good.

    I'm grateful for
    Reliable staff
Heating (the office we were in today was freezing)
    Beans on toast for dinner

  • Yesterday I returned some purchases but didn't come away as rich as expected as I spotted a pair of full length leather boots in dd's size that were £24 from £110. Couldn't resist. Also visited the building society with whom I have my isa and upped my monthly payment to £500 from £250 on the basis that next month will be ok as will the two subsequent ones as I have expenses due. Today I managed to get my tooth repaired. Yay. Also, the washing machine is now fixed. I'd also intended to lodge £20 in £1 coins to the bank to make an op but didn't make it. This evening I was splurging on a takeaway and they were short of change. Cue one £20 note in my purse saving me both a trip to the bank and also to the cashpoint. We had some computer issues at home though so I didn't log on yet. When I do, I will update the sig as it's considerably out of date both for the mortgage and for the savings. Yesterday's bad news was that the m&s transaction went through to the credit card but it was money I owed anyway.

    Today I am grateful for
My oh knowing when a hug was needed
    Getting paperwork filed
Saving myself a trip to the bank
Being able to help someone out

  • So, still haven't done the bank transfer, still haven't sorted out the detail of the money goals with OH but the past few days have been one thing after another. On Thursday my sister's mnd diagnosis was confirmed and it's progressing rapidly. She first saw the doctor in October and is now wheelchair bound with carers coming in four times a day. I absorbed the news and it really didn't fizz. In fact a picture falling and breaking a hurricane lamp in my living room, a Pyrex bowl breaking in the kitchen and the rail in my wardrobe falling and bringing my clothes with it bothered me more. I was asking a colleague's advice yesterday about power of attorney and it started to hit me a bit but more for her disabled son who may struggle as things worsen. Last night I was distracted by my daughter putting her foot through a bedroom ceiling and other bits and pieces. Then this afternoon I realised that one of my siblings' deaths is imminent and now I don't know how I will face her. We used to be close but there were issues relating to my divorce, my current partner, my kids etc where we a schism grew and grew. I know that she is dealing with so much more and just feel like a selfish cow. DD is away this weekend which is good. Having spent most of today moping about and a foray to the shop where there was nearly considerable misery spending, I need to bite the bullet and go see my sister tomorrow. I'm truly dreading it as her speech is so slurry and she's in the wheelchair. Positive vibes please everyone to get me there and out again without crying.

  • Quick update. Matters moved forward rather abruptly as my brother in law called around eleven to ask if I could pick anti emitics up from on call surgery as my sister was being violently ill. Had no choice but to go. She's clearly very unwell but at least the urgency moved everyone beyond any awkwardness.

Gosh INOD :( sorry to hear about your sister. Difficult times indeed, Beanie is right too and be kind to yourself. The past is just that, embrace the moments now as best you can. Good for both of you (I've had to do this with my Mum).

What has been happening in your house?! Foot through ceiling and breakages. Talk about lots on your plate.

Sending lots of positive vibes and those dodgy hugs :grouphug:

Sorry for your sister's awful prognosis INOD, now is the time to pour out your love for your sister, there's no time to waste. Do you think her illness has been developing for some time? I seem to remember a friend saying (about his wife) that a symptom was character changes and in particular raging moods.

Why do practical problems always seem to present themselves when one's resilience is stretched!
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Hi everyone and thanks for the good vibes. I phoned my sis yesterday but she wasn't taking calls and was still feeling sick. She went into hospital this evening for more tests so I will be visiting on Wednesday with another sister as both of us can be work free on Wednesday afternoon.
Today I was at a client, got cleared up in half the time expected then returned to the office to find that the server was down. Faffed about for half an hour then packed up and went home having told my team to do likewise. I'm starting to believe that someone, most probably my mother, has put a hex on me.
I did take the opportunity to partially sort out my banking on line and have updated my mortgage figures. Look at my sig! I need to update the savings. I've also set myself a mini target to be able to put an extra £2k in the isa by the end of the tax year as I have the opportunity to make a lump sum deposit annually.
    Anyhow, gonna head for bed.

Today I am grateful for support
For mine and my children's health
For the comfort a cold wet nose attached to the dog brings.
