  • Well, Monday I finally admitted that I had more than a cold. Having visited my gp, I'm now waiting to find out if I had whooping cough. How ridiculous is that! I'm old. I didn't have chicken pox until 22 but whooping cough at 47 is beyond silly. On the plus side, I'm now stuffed full of antibiotics and sleeping a lot so I'm feeling better.

I've decided I need to be more careful what I wish for. I got the days doing nothing and spent in bed over Christmas and managed to hit my weight loss target and then some by not being able to eat.

Sorry to hear your are very poorly, INOD. Gentle hugs from a great distance.

Has your OP been to the GP as he should have antibiotics. Make OP read the following article and act accordingly (plus others)

Lovely to see you posting INID. I had missed you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having so many trials and tribulations on so many fronts. Lots of sound advice here as ever.
Selfishly I hope you stay around on MSE. Quite a few of us perhaps feel we don't have the debts so shouldn't be here but it's a broad church.
I hope the longer days and lighter mornings help to lift your mood but do get the help you need. I feel quite inadequate to the task of helpful advice, which given how superb you are at this seems really unfair!

  • Thanks all. V, you are so right about the longer days lifting things. I was throwing the ball for the daft mutt at five the other evening and we could both see it. Result was a very mucky but happy wee pooch. She asks for so little from life, it's lovely to see her enjoying herself.
Today is !!!! into gear day. I've kept putting off posts as I don't yet have the fine detail but I've decided to post imperfectly and add to things as they become clearer. Decisions as follows

1 up the isa contribution to £500
2 continue to pay voucher savings and OH's fixed mortgage op to mortgage account along with any tcb, swag bucks, etc
3 figure out what to do with ebay proceeds if there are ever any
4 continue to kondo. Fewer things make sense
5 the combination of the trip to china and being I'll have made in roads to my weight. Want to hit the next half stone target by end of March. It's only four pounds away but would be amazing if I could
    6 be mindful and grateful
    7 value what I have
8 be generous - forgot about what if

Anyhow, I've rabbited on enough for now except there's one more biggie that I think a lot of us need to take on board

I need to be kinder to myself in terms of taking breaks, saying no and realising that being selfish is best for everyone in the long term.

Hope everyone's Sunday goes as they wish.

  • Today was an NSD and we ate from stores. Also got some laundry cleared up, clean clothes put away, 1 item identified for charity shop and about half an hour spent in the garden gathering up leaves, etc while keeping the dog entertained with the football. Am just about to head to bed as I need to call into office before heading to a meeting in dublin. I also emptied the shredder twice so that's paperwork we will never have to see again.
    Today I am grateful for
    My mood lifting
    Feeling better
Being able to do stuff around the house

  • So, first day back done and dusted. Not much achieved bar a four hour drive for a 40 min meeting that was totally nugatory. On the plus side, I cashed in some loyalty vouchers and got €5 off my petrol, a free bag of crisps, a free packet of car wipes and three free raffaello. That means I owe the mortgage a £5. I also save a certain pound coin and today got two in my change so that's me at £20 plus £1 to get the pot started again. I also stopped at an outlet and got a work blouse reduced from £120 to £20. I have it in a different colour and it washes and wears so well so a bit of a result. Did some swag bucking this evening and upped my number by 50. Other than that, I just vegged. Today I am grateful for
    £5 on a £5 scratch card
    Concern from colleagues
Getting home before the rain hit
Enjoying the magic of David Bowie on my journey
