  • Met up with the man cub Friday and yesterday. Each arm is in a cast from below elbow to above fingers. They don't look quite so bad as expected and as advised he carries them across his chest as slings aren't an option. He showed me the photos of his pelvis from which the staples have now been removed. The wound was quite large.
Apart from that he looks dreadful. Clearly sleep deprived due to how he can physically sleep. Has lost the tiny bit of weight he carries and due to lack of exposure to the outdoors, his skin has that greyish tinge that sallow skinned people can get in the winter. I just want to wrap him up, bring him home, put him on a seat out the back and force fed him.

Anyone reading this who doesn't have grown up children will, I know find it totally ridiculous.

Apart from that, we spent our time in London just pockling. I found it hot but a number of people were still in coats and scarves. Maybe I'm just used to colder weather. Didn't visit the big stores as I just couldn't face it but had gone armed with goodies from a local chocolate shop and added to these a bit. I also indulged and but me and OH a laduree mini macaroon. Yes, they were nice but given how they are supposed to be THE macaroon, I expected better for £1.80 each and not much bigger than an old 10p piece.

Got in about ten last night. So today of necessity will be housework, etc. hope everyone is having a good weekend

Today I am grateful for the courtesy of total strangers when seeing my son's incapacity.

Glad you're back safely and any parent I think in that situation would want to do the same :). He has age and fitness on his side so hopefully a speedy recovery once breakages and wounds have healed up. Anyone helping him out whilst he's still plastered up?

London must have been warm yesterday, usually it's a few degrees warmer than here (50 miles north and 19c), though guess it's what people are used to.

Hope you have a good catch up at home today. :)

Your poor son INOD. :( It must be so hard to see him like that. How long will he be in plaster for?

Bless DS INOD. I am glad you got to see him but sorry he is in such a sorry state. I have a small child and I don't find it ridiculous at all that you would want to do that to a grown up one. Once your child, always your child!

I hope he recovers quickly and learns how to sleep as that must be the real killer!

I hope your DS recovers soon INOD. It doesn't sound ridiculous wanting to bring him home, just a good mother wanting to nurture.

  • While I never saw the attraction in shared living, I'm grateful to report that DS lives in a shared house where people are generous with their help. He also has a number of good friends on hand though struggles to ask for help. We aren't sure how long he will be plastered but is at the hospital tomorrow so things may become clearer. I'm currently trying not to call as he already feels that he has a stalker.

Weather wise, things turned a bit wild today but I did get some good news. I have been short listed for a job I applied for a few weeks ago. Interview is mid may and won't require the shifting of any client meetings. Happily it's a few days before OH's parents come to stay as I'm not sure I could have simultaneously coped with the stress of both. I'm going to have to knuckle down and hit the books as it's a job I think I'd like so I want to give myself the best shot at it.

I went back to jog club this evening but found it tougher going than last week. I am quite determined to complete the programme but am not convinced it'll get me 5k ready but it will definitely bring it closer.

Today, as always, I am so grateful to you lot. The kindness of strangers never ceases to amaze me.

Stalker :rotfl:. 'It's just because I care and worry about you' is the 3rd generation inherited phrase here :) usually responded to with rolled eyes (also passed down the generations :rotfl:)

Great DS has good friends and the rest of the house mates to help him out. Fingers crossed for some clarity and good news from the hospital tomorrow.

Excellent about your interview, well done :T You give such good guidance when others are on the same path, just know you'll be well prepared and we'll all be willing you on from here :)

I applaud you going to jog club and making the conscious effort. Sure you'll come on leaps and bounds. :T
