I'm glad your son got through the operation and that he has his sister looking after him.

I'm only 2 lessons in (learning to drive) and feel that an automatic would be so much easier right now! :-) It must be bizarre though when you've learned on a manual.

I feel like I've been eating chocolate non-stop since Christmas!

I've also ordered the Kondo book seeing as everyone keeps talking about it on here. Lots of reservations though so I might have to wait a while. Sadly putting oneself at the top of the list is not a perk of being a librarian. :D

  • I really struggle with that car. It did keep me close to home bar one round multipurpose trip to get shot of stuff. Poor OH has been brilliant basically making sure that stuff I started got finished. Spoke to dd today. She and DS had been out to brunch with one of his school friends they would both still be very close to. So, it looks like there's lots of positivity going on there which I'm so relieved about.

On MSE news, we both got access to an ach1ca code that earned each of us £15 off and coincided with a sale of stuff on my wish / presents list. We both had to pay postage so the saving is £25 to go towards the mortgage. Plus OH got avi0s points so added bonus especially we need the flights at the minute.

I'm gonna try for an early night and fingers crossed will manage an undisturbed night. Hope everyone enjoyed some sunshine.

As always, today I am grateful for you lot.

Just delurking to say that I love automatics!!

I learnt to drive in a manual and had always had manuals but when I replaced my car 6 years ago I found a purple car (my favourite colour), turned out it was an automatic and I was dreading it but it is fine.

DH has a 4 x 4 which is manual and we have a spare car which is also manual.

Surprisingly I am fine to alternate between them all and never get confused - what does confuse me is the indicators and wipers which are different on all 3 vehicles.

Hope you manage this week with your automatic.t89192.gif
  • Spoke to the parasites briefly. All appears to be ok. OH cut grass out the front this afternoon so I did some edges, tidied the plants and got two new ones into the ground. Also planted up two big pots round the back and hopefully everything will take. The grass out the back is a mess with an abundance of weeds and mud patches created and maintained by the dog. The rhubarb is starting to grow and the chives are back. Wish I could wave a magic wand and tame it.
    Today I am grateful for

  • So, Monday again. Got a lengthy text from one of DS's old school friends last night. He and another are heading over at the end of May. I love that 11 years since leaving school, the little group he was in is as tight knit as ever. Busy week beckons when I will hopefully finally get my new car. A manual much the same shape and slightly smaller than the last permanent one.

This evening I start my ten week jogging programme. I got a nice email welcoming me last night and reassuring me that the first session would only be 40 minutes. I'm not sure their definition of complete beginner and mine are congruent!

As usual, I didn't get everything done I'd have liked over the weekend but two tasks are completed and some items are gone forever so that's a plus.
Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.

Well done on starting the running programme, you'll be fine. It'll start with lots of walking and a little bit of running, don't worry.

I can start back again next week, and will need to be gentle at first, so I'm back in the beginners group. I'm going to use it as an opportunity to meet new people locally. The group will be going through the pine woods and sand dunes.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Am out on site today which is great. Fewer office issues to deal with and can get on with the job. Went to jog programme last night which will apparently get me 5k fit within ten weeks. While I did struggle, surprisingly it felt good to be out and moving. Then I got dd from the airport. Apparently DS is in good spirits but gets very frustrated by his current lack of ability to do things. She also mentioned the massive amount of drugs he has to take, morphine in two different forms each twice a day, vitamin c, ibuprofen, paracetamol and omeprazole to protect his stomach.
From the time she entered the house until when I last saw her, her dog was wrapped around her. She clearly wasn't going anywhere without the mutt.

MSE news, still haven't won fpl but my bonus is growing and inbox£s creeps up slowly.
Yesterday I realised the value to having kondoed some clothes when I was able to have the quickest change and be out the door as all my clothes were visible and stored in a structured way. Some days, I just look at my underwear drawer in admiration.

  • Surprisingly, I don't have as many aches and pains as expected. Am determined to go to my jog programme tonight. I'm working today as I'm having Friday off instead. Really can't be bothered but needs must. Am having lunch with two friends today but it'll be around £5 so doable. It will be good to catch up.

Got one more thing shifted off my todo list yesterday evening but otherwise pretty much vegged. I did however get the closest I've had recently to a full night's uninterrupted sleep. I think getting home when it's still bright makes it easier to get stuff done.

Anyhow, gotta sort out something to wear today and get started. Most of the team are out on site today so I should be quite productive.

  • So much for yesterday's anticipated productivity. Spent most of the day running about to resource two new bits of work. Also got approval for OH to help us with some delivery so that'll mean more pennies towards the mortgage. More faffing about re the car. Apparently mine will be another week. Gonna push that today as I have a day in dublin next week and would sooner not do the drive in that automatic. I've decided it's totally at odds with the control freak tendencies I have where driving is concerned.

Did jog club last night but struggled. Stuck it out to the end and boy did those stretches feel good. Am in belfast next mon and wed so no excuses not to go. If i do that, I'll be a fifth of the way through the programme.
On ms news, went to pick up 2 pairs of summer pumps yesterday from primarni as they do a wide fit that accommodate my insole thingies. Expected to pay £14 but at the till they both came out at £6. Gonna go do a transfer to the mortgage of the balance.
Hope you all have a good day. This time tomorrow I will be in the air en route to DS. Am a bit nervous as while logic tells me he's a bit battered, I hate seeing them in that way.
