  • So, worked through that I could put £14 towards bills next month that I had spare from this week's spends so that has been set aside. Did have to fight the dog for a five pound note! Also, started to attack the hotspots. Haven't gotten very far but we're on top of the weekend housework so I should get a clear run at it. Today was an NSD which is always good with the only outing to drop off some stuff at charity shop. I keep hoping that decluttering will make some things worth selling become more visible. Anyhow, at least 3 items to go on fleabag tomorrow and hopefully OH may also find something he's willing to part with. Today I'm grateful for

  • It is good to hear that the dog is realising the importance of money saving and is fighting you for the fiver, rather than just eating it.

Three items on fleabag is a start, keep decluttering dreaming that there is some hidden, overlooked treasure to be found...... We have to find ways of enjoying this journey.

  • Bit of a mixed day today. Got some stuff done but not as much as I had hoped for. Bought some things online but got cashback on both purchases plus 10% off on one. Visited my mum at a time that clashed with her tv viewing. While she thanked me for calling, she clearly didn't want to be bothered so I escaped pretty sharpish. I'm looking at a fairly hellish two weeks in work but, fingers crossed, I'll resist the demon chocolate while in work. Today I am grateful for

  • You have an OH who can cook lovely dinners too, that is a real bonus! and a tricky mother, which I can empathise with.

Have you time to prepare a strategy for getting through the next couple of weeks. Lately I have been fire fighting, but I always find that if I can prepare for difficult situations ahead of time, that I cope much better.

  • Well there's a cure for insomnia if ever one was needed ;). And those LBMs just keep on coming. When posting on another thread, I realised that 32k of my most recent mortgage converted short term debt to long term! How ridiculous was that. As it was 32k out of 160k, I think my new target may be to shift 20% of my mortgage at the earliest opportunity. Had a bit of a spendy day as I was out on site with a junior so I treated us both to a nice lunch. However, am still bringing fruit for when the cravings start. Also, cost of lunch came from underspend on last week's budget. Will have lunch out tomorrow with a friend but this will be her treat so I may actually manage a NSD. Am still tackling my two hotspots in my quest to Declutter. This was somewhat thwarted by OH being too busy gaming to list items on ebay. Still, there's always next time. Today I am grateful for

  • Sorry RBR, just noticed your comment re strategy. For us, it will be firefighting as we are just coming out of RoI year ends while hurtling towards NI ones at end of March. Roll on Easter!

  • Fire fighting and survival mode it is then. Just make sure that you have all the protective equipment on that that you can muster up, to give yourself the best chance of hanging in there !!!

My DH is a gamer too, we have a selection of games in this house that would net us a small fortune, if my men would let me get my hands on them.
