Somebody somewhere is looking out for me. Blood sugars that should be around 45 were at 73 4 months ago. Tested last wed and was panicking about the results as I've had very restricted movement due to knee op. Just been told they're at 62. Looks like I'm finally doing something right. Am so relieved as my biggest fear is amputation where people don't get back in control. Unfortunately, only my oh knows of my diagnosis a I felt that this illness was brought on by failure on my part. Also, I couldn't cope with other people trying to police me. Worrying for wittering on so much but am so grateful to have this outlet.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hi INOD
Have just been reading through your posts and think you're doing really well, especially with your health issues too.
So happy to hear your blood sugar levels are reducing, your clearly doing something right, it's just finding what that is and sticking to it!!
I'm sure if you did mention your diagnosis to other people they would be supportive. It's not failure on your part and I really hope at some point your mindset will change and you will realise that.
I'm also really excited for you for your holiday plans. Where have you booked for? Sounds very intriguingCanada also sounds great! I'm saving for a holiday for my and my daughter which is going to cost a fair whack but have been saving for ages as want to pay for it all up front and have enough spending money so we can do everything we want. It's such a great incentive to have isn't it.

Hi INOD,
Sassy is right, you will likely find many of us are trying to cope with similar things.
I have not had great health either, for the last few years, so I can empathise.
It was misdiagnosed as a stress related breakdown and I felt such a failure trying to put my mind back together after many weeks off work. After a couple more episodes, and a prolonged hospital spell last summer, it turned out that I have a form of encephalitis, in my system, which affects my brain when I get run down and vascular disease too, narrowing the carotid artery.
I figure my only real recourse is to keep as fit and healthy and balanced as possible, and eat right. If only that were an easy thing to do. Who really knows why we get these things?

well, yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster. OH arrived home with 2 bunches of flowers to apologise for "being a prat" while it was lovely to receive both those and the apology, i still have house flowers that are good for a week or so and why 2 bunches? it tends to be all or nothing with him. He announced he wasn't feeling good but refused all medication. result, a disturbed night for all and me going to the supermarket for some immodium. fingers crossed it's doing its thing. honestly, his brain seems to totally switch off when he's unwell. it would be funny if i wasn't dealing with it. Anyhow, went to asda for his meds, cordial, etc. and have decided that that shop is the work of the devil as I emerged £22 poorer. I realised that most of their offers are either on processed to death foods or sugary snacks and fizzy drinks. of course, this was only after i'd bought them.
anyhow, thanks peeps for helping me out of yesterday's pity party. I got half a shelf cleared, some to recycling and some to charity shop. the shredding's nearly up to date and I cooked up a gammon which will provide lots of lunches. I did just need a plan. when i drift, i see more that needs done in less time and tailspin. so today, i'm helping my sister with the school run, grabbing a cuppa with my mum and than home to check on the invalid. hope everyone else is getting on top of things tooMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. You can send one of those bunches of flowers my way .... It is ages since I have had any in the house and they used to be one of my must haves, they make the house look so cheery.
Your husband is very sweet. I don't envy you on nurse the husband duty though, that requires extreme long suffering and my patience gets tried there. My DH is just over his cold ..... thank goodness."I wondered why the Frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me". £9/£250

So today wasn't an NSD but am quite proud. While wondering aimlessly round shops killing time, I stumbled into a tg max and discovered they have started stocking my favourite brand of handbag. I resisted but it was so difficult.
Other news, realised I hadn't paid my cc this month. Thanks to the wonders of electronic transfer, got that sorted with 2 days to spare. It'd be so me to be oping the mortgage and incur interest charges due to lack of attention.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Evening
I know exactly what you mean. I was paying a cc on time each month then after about 5 months got a letter saying how they'd noticed I was always late paying & did I realise I was incurring charges. Turns out I'd misread the 25th for the 15th. Easy but costly mistake and one that I've triple checked for every bill every month!CC1: 10273.70/6892.56. CC2: 1000/832

Quick post before running. Got up this morning to find my daughter's normally well trained dog had left a not so little message on the floor. Should I consider this to be a much enhanced version of the luck that comes with bird poo? Anyhow, work beckons so positive thoughts for me please everyone.
Things to be grateful for
That I currently have a relatively well paid job, a nice company car and I enjoy approx 50% of what I do
That someone thinks I'm well enough to go back to it
That I'm starting back on a Friday with the next two days off.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. You were very lucky that you didn't slip on it, and knacker your knee again!
