Ohhhh........happy "nearly" birthday TheDoolallyDilly & your sig is absolutely spot on!!
Thank you
At my 'advanced age'I don't feel the need to buy every New Thing that is pushed in magazines and by shops either. And when I took a load of stuff to be sold at the nearly new shop, I realised that they were really nice things that I had hardly worn because they were 'good' clothes - terrible waste of money. I'd rather have less, and wear it all!
I don't know if anyone here uses Pinterest? I have pinned a lot of 'capsule wardrobe' things - more and more I realise it's important that clothes work with other clothes in your wardrobe - that one thing can be worn in a variety of different ways, so it's not boring.
And I really need to look harder in charity shops - they are pricey where I live, but, equally, they can have some very nice stuff indeed. And obviously, cheaper than newI do enjoy a good rummage every now and then ...
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Haven't posted here in quite a while but I'm still doing this challenge! Still no spend on clothes this year. Not planning on going anywhere where clothes are sold in the next couple of days so that makes it the fourth month in a row! How exciting!
I've been thinking, I'm in a rather odd situation. I study performing arts full time, so I wear "blacks" (all black movement wear) Monday to Friday. At weekends I either lounge at home in a t-shirt and yoga pants (and perhaps embarrassingly wear the same under a coat if I need to do some grocery shopping) or work at my part-time job, where I wear a uniform. I work at the same job full-time over the holidays.
So for the next two-odd years, until I complete my degree, I realistically only need blacks, my work uniform and a dress for special occasions. I have less than 20 non-blacks/uniform items in my wardrobe but they've barely been touched since October when I started my degree!Save 12k in 2014: n. 104, goal £4k, achieved £4000

£370.07 so far on clothes/shoes/uniform etc etc for the 5 of us.
So just over half way to my revised budget of £700.
This year i know ill need various shoes for the kids in a few months (though i expect DS to be sorted til winter unless his feet suddenly grow a full size!) I need some comfortable sandals. DD1 will need a few new pieces of uniform come semptember and school shoes again! And i just rummage in charity shops for stuff for me as my wardrobe is teeny tiny! Oh and i could do with a summer hat and the kids need sunglasses! Phew!
This is harder than i thought!

Hi all and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to nillionaire and doolallydilly.
Even though I'm spending less, my kids are growing so much this year (tween and teen) that they are/will cost me a fortune! and cus I got one of each, no hand me downs either.
Anyway I'm determined to have a spend free May- we're on holiday at the end of it so need to focus on that and have plenty of money to spend while we are away.:D
I've also sorted my wardrobe so that the more winter stuff is out of the way and spring/summery stuff in the middle - where I can easily see it. I have got so much stuff I should easily be able to have a spend free May - only my willpower (or lack of will get in the way)
I've sent a couple of bits that just didn't fit right to charity, to stop me hoarding.
Yes I use pinterest a lot too, mainly for ideas what to wear with what, I'm not sure I could do the capsule wardrobe thing though.:cool:0 -
Hello, just thought I'd do a little update as we are at the end of April
I spent £31 in April on pyjamas and a top, so I'm currently running at
£35 / £300
I'm looking for a nice lightweight showerproof jacket, so I've got money in the pot for this.
Very pleased with progress on this challengeEarly retired - 18th December 2014

No spends for April. Favourite dress now relegated to winter nightdress for next year (had small holes for last 3 months - either cat damage or age of dress/type of material - developed into 1" holes this month). Need to think seriously about getting some sewing done or will have to have more pj days - down to 3 basic outfits + jogging bottoms (past their best). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0

Hi :hello:
Popping in to report NIL spending month - which is the 4th in a row:j
Nil/£100
Thanks all. Thanks FedupandSkint.Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -
I bought a dress in April, was £29.95 from Joules outlet shop, I bought one on offer before Christmas, love it and have had lots of complements so when I saw I could get another I did (also shows it's not a good idea to wander around the outlet too often, wasn't going for clothes, this was right by the door and we saw it as we walked past).
Also got a free tshirt from Boden, they sent me a £15 gift voucher randomly and there was a free delivery code at the time so got a short sleeved tshirt which I know I'll wear for nothing, which is nice.
My current totals for this year are:
so I'm currently on:
January - NSM
February - NSM
March - £133 on bras
April - £29.95 on a dress
Total for the year £162.95
I've also sold a few more bits in the last month and May is going to be the month to blitz my existing clothes once and for all as our bedroom is being replastered in June so needs emptying.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
