I have just realised that if not for this challenge, I would have spent quite a few hundreds by now... :(

I also realised that 300 pounds per year can't get me clothes that I want. It's not even enough for shoes that I like... But I will stick to my budget this year.

    Sad face... :(

Don't be sad, treat the challenge as a positive experience, you're doing really well. You might like those shoes now, but what about in 6mths time when the next pair come along. Although I'm not properly signed up to the challenge, it still does make me think about how much I really do like something when I'm shopping.

    Ok...ok......I have a small confession!
Yesterday I went to Birmingham for the day. My husband left me in the middle of the city centre, for 4 hrs, whilst he went to football!!!!
I spotted my favourite shop- White Stuff and this magnetic force pulled me in. I looked around and saw lots of lovely things. I cracked and decided to buy a new outfit (for my first day in a new job). I spent £107.00 ( on one outfit - skirt top and cardigan ). I know that I have gone way over budget this month but I realised that as the football season is coming to an end I won't be able to visit a white stuff until at least August!!!
So I told myself that I have now spent next months clothes budget ( excluding tights - which I am going to need to replace soon).
Had I not been on this challenge I would have bought at least another 3 things which would have at least doubled the bill!!!

Second purchase out of the annual budget made - those much needed school trousers for DS at £12.45. They are a good 3" longer than his last pair and his leg length has overtaken mine :rotfl:

So I'm up to £24.45 out of £120 - roughly £12 spent on each of us.

I have gone through my wardrobes and brought all the spring and summer clothes together (and also to remind myself what I've got) and can't see anything I am likely to need.
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

Ladies you are all doing so well!

Gem Gem I love White Stuff too, and Fat Face.

I have decided that I am not going to post my spends on here anymore as I have completely failed this challenge already. Instead, I am going to continue to keep my own personal log of clothes spends so that I can review and keep track of how much I am spending and whether I am using the new things I have bought.

Will still continue to follow and post on the thread though as I love hearing about bargains and other people's purchases :)

In terms of wardrobe essentials for me:

    - Cardigans - I love the longer cardigans that H&M do, they last really well and look great with different things

    - A good pair of jeans that fit and wash well - my favourites are a pair of Levis skinny jeans that I have had for 4 years or so, they fit me perfectly and wash really well. I am so worried about when these eventually wear out!!

    - Maxi skirts - I love these and think they are very flattering on my body shape.

I think it's great that you're still keeping track as you will still probably spend less just being aware of it!

Spending updates are as follows: £9.99 on a scarf from a boutique, very pretty really happy with it.

Worried I might have a bit of a spend on my birthday at the weekend, but that will only happen if I get money or vouchers because I'm skint otherwise :p will try and reign it in but if you can't treat yourself on your 21st when can you :rotfl:

£6 spent on a plain white t-shirt (to go with the impulse buy flowery trousers) and £12 on another blouse for work in Dotty P sale (I'm amazed Dotty P do my size.

    Another £18 to add.

    £80.47/£250
  • I bought a plain, sleeveless black top (and it was incredibly hard to find one!) to wear for choir performances (we have to wear black) - it's Phase Eight, in the sale, and it was £25 (was £39, no way would I have paid that!). I will update my signature.

In just over two weeks I have A Very Big Birthday (ends in a zero, starts with a five :o) I may get money to spend ....

Just popping in to report a £2.29 spend on a really pretty green floral suummer top from topshop bought in my local age concern charity shop. Will be cute with jeans and a pair of pumps. Also bought a denim pencil skirt in the next sale for £10 which I ordered months ago and it has only just arrived.

I "keep and eye" on fashion trends but at 38 have finally realised its all a load of rubbish and a liscence to print money for the clothing retailers! So, I basically buy what I like and tend to stick more with classic styles.

I would be lost without my converse pumps (love them!), my favourate jeans are high waisted (tuck it in oh yay :)) slim fit jeans that are really flattering. I have a great white shirt which is soooo versatile for wearing under things or on its own.

Ohhhh........happy "nearly" birthday TheDoolallyDilly & your sig is absolutely spot on!!
  • Hi All xxxxxx

    A purchase to declare!!
Have had a lovely day out, went to a vintage fair with my friend. Usually that's my excuse to buy tons of clothes but today I just bought one dress for £10!
It blue, quite 80's in its cut and has a skinny belt. I love it!
