The Completely Crazy 2014 Clothes Challenge

Hello all. Although I'm pleased on the one hand that I've managed not to spend anything for 2 months, on the other I think that sometimes this challenge makes me feel a little down. I wanted to wear jeans today in this awful weather but my one pair is drying at the moment. I don't think it helps that I am stuck in the village today as DD has the car. If I'd been able to get to town, I would have bought some jeans (and probably other things too). I would have looked in the charity shops first though.
Actually, reading this back, I don't feel so bad now, I am wearing other clothes after all and haven't spent anything again.
Right, enough of my rambling.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

It is awful weather atm isn't it. Sounds like you've talked yourself round, but if you're just at home, can you stick some joggers on or something that is warm and comfy other than jeans? (I'm still in my pj bottoms)
How about writing down what you 'think' you 'need / want' and then next time you're out, revisit that list. I just found a note of sportswear I need (do actually need it, most gets worn 2-3 times a week and it over 2yrs old now ) but at the bottom was a note about a t-shirt from Mango I wanted at the time. totally forgotten about it until now so clearly didn't need it that much. I liken it a bit to collecting my thoughts on paper so I don't need to keep thinking about them.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Some good points Kerry GT thankyou. I think I just woke up in can't be bothered with anything mood today. I stayed in my pjs till after 10am which is unheard of for me normally but once I actually got on with stuff and out with the dogs, my mood improved.
I will write a list of what I 'need' though, at least it might keep me on track next time I am let loose in town.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
hi all,
No spends so far, but I was contemplating a little shopping trip tomorrow until I read your post Jazee and felt a bit embarrassed as I have at least 10 pairs of jeans, never mind all the other stuff. I know that we've all got different rules etc, but it has still put me off going so thanks.:T
I did go in the charity shops this morning, but nothing caught my eye.
I am struggling a bit this month tbh, never thought I was a shopping addict, but I'm thinking way too much about shopping.
I really want to have a spend free May though, I've only got 2 weeks to go as on holiday on the 24th, must focus on that instead, and the fact that I shall have more to spend then.:cool:0 -
Hi Everyone,
Went to Bluewater with a £50.00 voucher that I had - need a new pair of trouser shoes and a pair of summer shoes but didn't see any thing that I liked. (At the price that I want to pay). Not sure whether to wait for the sales.
Bought 3 pairs of tights - £12.00 - needed not a want.
Went back to the shops today. Managed to find some trouser shoes and a pair of sandals plus another pair of shoes. Spent £200 - £50 voucher = £150.00
I realised that these were the first pairs of shoes that I have bought in two years. ( and I only bought one pair the year before!!)2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I have another pair of jeans and two tops. I have adjusted my total for the challenge, taking out what I'd previously included for underwear and adding in today's spends.Spend less now, work less later.0

Found myself contemplating a new pair of shoes today. My favourite pair of trainers collapsed mid sitted leg press. Had to try my very best to avoid sports shops. Have two more pairs of trainers at home in a reasonable condition. Actually one pair has only been worn 5-6 times. They are comfy, but don't look too good. Decided that it wasn't all about looks with trainers.
It's all about discipline!
Also hasn't been to any charity shops this month yet. Really crave the experience as well. In fact I grew to love charity shopping and enjoy it more than buying new clothes. I'll try to hold off till the end of the month and till I get to wear all my last month's purchases. I still have one dress lurking about. It needs a petticoat (which I have to buy) so keeping it for special occasion.
I have a question - does the budget have to include the expenses of making your own clothes?Mortgage £8472.53

Guna, for me it doesn't. I love sewing and make lots of things with sometimes pretty expensive fabric, it's my hobby though so has an entirely different category.
Right. Spends this weeks,
Miss sixty jeans £2.99
New warehouse jeans £1.99
Top shop denim skirt £1.99
Oasis vest top £1.99
Falmer summer dress £5.99
New look dress £4.99
New shorts £3.30
Grobag sleeping bag for dd2 £3.09
Calvin Klein belt £1
Dkny hoody for dh £5.99
Summer jacket for ds £2.25
Joules top for ds 25p
Shrug for dd2 25p

Tights dd1 50p
That's actually quite a lot. All from charity shops too! I actually prefer charity shopping to new clothes shopping!
