I have another £8 from last month from a sample sale at work - got 4 tops for it so can't complain.
Then have a hefty £56 dent in the budget for a pair of jeans. Been putting off buying them and wanted to make sure I got the right pair. I only had one pair and they have unfortunately had to go in the bin they were that bad!!Pay off Debts by Christmas 2015 = DEBT FREE!0 -
Ok .........
£247.05/£500 and we arent even 1/4 the way through the year yet!! We'd be higher too but ive decided not to count DHs stuff unless i buy it as he just buys things willy nilly. This month alone £70 in shoes, so im leaving him to it. LOL
Shame i need new sandals this yearHoping to recoup some money along the line to reduce my huge spend.

happytails I think you're doing pretty well as you have included your kids clothes in your budget. I suspect that by the end of this year I'll have cut back on clothes for me and gone completely over the top on clothes for DC to compensate

Hi All xxx
Still no spends for me this year - can't believe it! Been mega busy with work and uni work these last two weeks and have done no - and I mean NO, NONE, ZILCH - laundry yiyiyiyiiiiii!!
It's brought home how many clothes I DO have as I've worn loads but there's still plenty hanging up!! Not reached the dregs yet - still some nice outfits untouched.
Am learning loads from this challenge. I've wasted so much money on clothes over the years2014 Frugal Living Challenge

I have completely failed at this challenge and it is only March!!
I am going to change my spending target to £500 for the year instead. Feel very guilty about this, considering my debt, but my justification is that this is still less than what I have spent in previous years. It also helps me to be aware of what I am spending and to keep a log of things that I buy so that I can then reflect back on whether I get my monies worth (someone put this on last years thread and I thought this would be really helpful for me).
So, I have bought a jacket, a skirt, a shirt, a jumper, a bag, some shoes, and another 3 necklaces:o:o
My total spend for the year so far now is £339.57:o

After reading this thread I feel inspired! Is it too late to join? I tried this challenge a couple of years ago and I was rubbish! However, I've realised that I haven't bought any clothes so far this year and I want to continue to be self-disciplined untll holiday time. I did buy a scarf, a cardigan and maybe something else at the beginning of January but that was birthday/Christmas money so it doesn't count. OH bought me some earrings and my mother gave me some scarves - is that cheating? (I didn't ask). I'm going to get organised and go through my wardrobe to see what I might need for the warmer weather. I'm setting my budget at £300 but that's because I don't want to fail! I'm hoping for less...0

Welcome!
I see the challenge as being what I spend personally and apart from those who count in clothes for children and partners, I'm sure others do too.
My brother bought me a gorgeous jumper for Christmas that unquestionably cost at least a quarter of my whole budget for last year.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I'm not including anything I buy with money that was given to me as a present, or things I buy with vouchers I earn doing surveys. I have to flashing the debit card for it to count ... ! I don't think it matters too much if you have gone over KT2820, as doing the challenge is making you think a bit more before spending (I know I never used to think about it at all, and now I am trying to make good decisions to buy stuff I will wear, and that I love, not just something that will 'do').Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
