My DD needed some new vests to wear under her school shirts, so I had to buy a couple today. I went to Peacocks though so it's only another £6 to add to my figure...Total Debt January 2014 £10,725.44

In the last few days I've had some shoes break (the sole completely ripped off- Don't ask I'm very clumsy) and some 'jeggings' wear out in the crotch!
Still determined to have a no spend feb though
I'm thinking about using a good chunk of my years budget to buy a few pairs of high quality shoes because mine are always from places like new look and Primark and while they are cheap and cheerful, they don't last and are not always the most comfortable. I also don't actually have that many pairs of shoes at all whereas I've got far too many clothes so the balance really ought to be addressed.Frugal Student!!!0 -
Had a bit of a splurge on ebay and spent £8.46 (incl postage) on a lovely Reiss light weight jumper. Have updated signature accordingly. Very impressed with all this wardrobe organisation! I must confess that I have been avoiding this but have some spare time at the weekend to make a start.0

Hi there all,
I joined the debt free diary thing last week as Mrs Ashamed if any one fancies reading my tale of woe !
Just been looking through the list of challenges and this looks like one I definately need to join!! Wow how much money thats not even mine have I spent on clothes I hardly ever wear and am now paying the price for!!
I must admit I do buy stuff for the hubby and daughter (22 yr old who works hard and doesn't earn what shes worth so I buy her work clothes now and then).
Some fantastic ideas on here about organising and decluttering.
Am I on this or what:rotfl:
Im off work this week with a back that decided to collapse last week so have time to put plans in place and this is one of them.
Back to work soon but have half term in a week and a half so im off work again. Im going to start the task today and finish what I started then. Might sell some stuff on ebay the rest can go to the local charity shop.
I might even have a go at convincing my daughter to do the sam e but She may not be so keen.
Ive decided to set a target goal of £300 for the year- that includes me, her and the hubby.
Have started looking on ebay again, and deleted all the shopping apps off my ipad.
Any advice greatly appreciated:D xStarting point:

Loving all the wardrobe/draw organisation ideas. Must do this. Also must do some laundry!!!
Nerdmum I have my eye on DS's baseball boots, we are now the same size I bought them hoping he wouldn't wear them much and I could inherit them. Sadly he wears them loads so I don't think there will be much left of them to inherit (also they stink!!) DD also likes to wear his old stuff so we do quite well out of DS.
More spends today:
Grey sweatshirt from Lidl (of all places) £7
Jumper, cardy and top from Oxfam £9
= £16 (added to my sig).Crazy clothes challenge 140/1800 -

I find shoes in General can be hit or miss. I have faith boots that were originally £75 (paid £20 in the sales ) they are leather but taking a while to wear in and not 100% comfy! prob half a size too small. Whereas I have a pair of primark boots that were about £12 and are really comfy. Same with converse trainers, mine rub my little toe when my feet get hot (bigger size is too wide) but ballet shoes from primark really comfy. That said I've had some primark ones that do hurt, and my uggs that are worth every penny I spent in them.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Thanks for kind thoughts but did well walking yesterday, got through exercise class and still had enough energy to go to the SM. Miffed that the bus was leaving the stand as I got to the bus station but made it home on foot (half an hour to wait for the next bus) even though the little rucksack felt heavy - so about three hours exercise altogether, so getting back on track.
Wardrobe meltdown moment this morning - due to the appalling weather, my jogging pants went to the wash but are at the back of the nearly dry/wet washing mountain threatening to take over the house. Did my exercise class in my velour dress from 5 Xmases ago (loose enough to move my legs and doesn't show anything it shouldn't). Couple of other things I have been wearing were in the wash/ no longer fit to be seen in public - thought I was going to spend the day in my dressing gown, trying to get things dry.
So I went to look at the only 4 things left in the wardrobe (nothing happening weightwise but thought I was losing inches) and they all fit. 2 a bit too thin for now, black linen trousers I will wear under my new dress (dark green and sparkly) with a t-shirt under and a cardigan over the top (+ extra if I am here, less layers if at mum's - her partner puts the gas fire on full). Two of the skirts went on over t-shirt/cardigan/sweatshirt I had put on.
I now have 5 black skirts that fit or are loose. It's not just depression, although I do find it hard to wear colours when I am not happy. the only social events I seem to go to are funerals and if my current best black skirt doesn't fit or isn't up to scratch, I have to go and buy another one. Today's little number was worn for my ex-mil's funeral so at least 7 and a half years old (find it more helpful to think in terms of how many years I have turned back the clock when the pounds are sticking).
Will decide which can be downgraded to painting clothes soon and do a full clothes audit when I get to move back down from the attic. DS1 moving his stuff out on Saturday but I need to paint the ceiling (and maybe the floor) before I start moving my things back in there - empty room is easier than having to push stuff around (although I did once lose 5and a half pounds in a week decorating a room one wall at a time whilst pushing a bed and three wardrobes out of the way).
Need to make a list of what needs mending and think about what I need/want to buy. Would love a proper walking coat but the ones I saw were £65 in the sale so may just keep looking in charity shops and getting my walking up to the 5 hours a day mark.
Happy not spending. Wardrobe organising is good - if you work all week it might be a good idea to spend some time at the weekend putting together 'new' outfits then put each day's stuff on a hanger, then if you are in a hurry one day you can just grab the hanger and know it doesn't look thrown together - you can even put any accessories with it (scarf/beads). I remember reading years ago about a fashion college exercise where you dip into a box and pull out 2 pieces of cloth at random and then have to find a third piece that makes the first two work together. Love your rediscovered fashions.:T:T:TMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
