  • Got £5.50 back in this week selling an old purse on ebay. Got a big bag full of stuff I hope to sell so going to make march the month of getting money rolling back in instead of out! :)

This isn't going to be taken off my totals or anything like that as I still don't want to spend more than £300 this year even if I do get money through ebay, just wanted to share :)

Well, I had my saunter around the shops this morning and didn't find myself tempted by buy anything.

I was doubtful whether I'd be able to do this challenge, but knowing that I've set myself a budget for clothes, I'm determined to meet my target, so I only want to buy things I really feel the need for.

I love those quilted Barbour style jackets with the belt at the waist. But I've got a lovely Per Una anorak to wear, so although the Barbour style jacket is my only real want at the moment, it's not a need.

At the moment I'm selling a few of my household bits on eBay, and I'm also selling a few bits on behalf of my friend ( we go 50/50 on the proceeds)

Once those things are out of the way, I'm going to get looking in my wardrobes, for things that need to be moved on.

I've been de-cluttering my house, including clothes for quite a while now, but but there always seems to be something that needs to be looked at.

In the last couple of years I've crept up from a 12 to 14. I eat healthily and walk for exercise - I think it's just an age thing.

But it has meant that some of my clothes no longer fit.

Last year I did a lot of wardrobe clearance and replacement, but I know there's a still a few things in there that need to go. Mostly trousers - a few 12's that I know are too tight and a few 14's which are hipster, and I really prefer a higher waistline. Also there's a few size 12 dresses that are just that bit too tight.

I'll sell the things on eBay. With the proceeds I'll buy (probably from eBay) a pair of jeans to wear round the house - I've only got one pair of 'home' jeans, and have to wash them on Thurs and Friday, which are my at work days. I did have a pair of 'home' combats - but they were so old, the fabric got too thin and they ripped! I also will look for a pair (or two ) of capris for summer to wear at home, and a pair of shorts to wear at home too.

If I use money I've earned on eBay, I don't include this in my targets - it's only 'real' money spent that is included in my totals

I'm heartily sick of my work wardrobe. I only work the two days a week, so I just have pair of black trousers, a pair of jeans ( for dress down Friday) and about 8 tops, that I wear in rotation. I started the job four years ago, and these clothes weren't new then. As I've only got about 18 months maximum to work, I'm just not going to buy anything more for work, or use any of my other clothes to wear to the office. When I finish work, my working wardrobe will be binned, if it hasn't fallen apart already!

I failed to resist... I bought some black block heel work shoes and a smart work dress. Cost £47, less 25% = £35.75, less cashback = £32.90, free express delivery too!

I had approx £13 from e3ay proceeds, so still £20 to find to keep 2014 cost neutral :)

Wow great purchases there Paulineb, I would have been over the moon with such bargains! :)

I am attempting to wear things I don't normally wear at least once a week. I wore a warehouse baggy jumper the other day which has lovely colours but for some reason the fabric bunches and gets stuck between my boobs which is not a good look so that one is in the wash bucket and then on the ebay list ( I had forgotten why I didn't wear it!). I have also worn a pair of black next skinny jeans which are a bit on the skinny side of skinny for me (!) and they have a panel detail on the outer thigh which according to my husband makes me look like Mick Jagger!!!! (charming isn't he! ). If I face facts they are probably another item for the ebay pile!!

Hoping for better success on my next "freedom" outfit!!! :rotfl:

All the clothes in my local barnados are 99p, I badly needed a coat, have worn the dress twice already. Its a fab shop. Also got a black jumper and a pair of black skinny jeans before christmas in the same shop.

I may or may not get to the end of the year without buying more fitness clothes, I teach and do fitness classes and I had bought some workout trousers from gossypium about 4 years ago, 20 quid a pair but I must have had some on about 400 times and thats a conservative estimate, anyway, they started falling to bits and I had to get some new stuff

Ive also lost weight over the last year so hopefully I'll fit back into some stuff Ive not been able to get on in a while. I have plenty clothes, really dont need to buy many at all.
  • I'm still resisting buying anything - would be lovely to have no clothes spend month this month!

I am on what seems like an endless search for a pair of white jeans - I have tried on loads but can't find any I like. I had a lovely pair but they are too big for me now! Whatever I buy has to be perfect if I am spending any of my budget on them!
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

  • My friends who own them say they hurt to wear in but mould to your feet well and are comfortable after that :)

That reminds me I'm trying to wear in some flats with a very stiff heel back in them, any suggestions how to wear them in without the pain ?
If they are fairly new, the chances are they are still quiet pointy at the back of the heel, where they have come off the production line - push the seam inwards a little to "round" off the heel a bit - putting a little bit of chiropody felt ( its a self sticky pink fluffy felt found in chemists that you can cut to size) at the point may help inside the shoe for a bit until worn in too, but it will come away eventually.

I was doing quiet well recently until I got caught in a horrible downpour the other week - miles from home - no spare clothes - ended having to buy from a CS shop a pair of jeans and a cardi. My DD2 bought me a lovely hippy boho top too as part of my birthday last week from the same shop - good job too as I didnt have enough money on me to stretch to all of it.

Jeans - nice inky blue skinny ones £2
Cardi - bottle green vintage boyfriend style lambswool one - £1.50
boho top - greens and blues and very floaty - pressie

Had to try and get my undies dry before I went out again that night ( couldn't even wear my coat it was drenched!)but couldn't get them completely dried so was a little soggy underneath but I had so many compliments from my new top and cardi it made up for it!

so am having to declare £3.50

On another note I had a cheque returned to me from one of these cash for clothes companies I used late last year - think it has gone under as the web site went off line for a while and I couldn't get in touch with them but the site is back up working ,but looks like is under new ownership with info that they can not deal with previous owners debts etc so it doesn't look like I will get my money back or my clothes - have emailed them but it doesn't look good which is shame . Fingers Crossed.:o

But on a happier note DD2 has just sorted out her wardrobe and has passed over to me

    2 grey cardis
    1 blue little stripe cardi/srug
1 jade dress(not sure if it will be me though)
1 mint green chiffon floaty top(again not sure)
    several casual tops
1 big woofy cardi(it reminds me of a big woolly dog for some reason but very warm)

Just have to make sure I wear them or get rid of them:o

Oh I received a late b'day pressie of a £10 Debs gift card from a dear friend so i might be putting it towards a new dressing gown or maybe not depending how naughty I feel!
