  • Hi all, I've been keeping an eye on this challenge over the last few years...still not wanting to take part but I am going to, in my own way, try and be spend-neutral this year. That said, I do have to buy certain items of clothing for work.

I'm going for clothes neutral too with exceptions of basic work clothes and underwear :)

Yesterday I emptied the pants, socks and tights sections of my drawers into another drawer and just put the bits I wore when we were away over Christmas (and have just been through the wash) back into them - I'm then going to see how often I need to go to the other drawers to find things and at the end of January go through the remainder to check there isn't anything useful still lurking and if not it's going

in a similar vein, I'm starting to go through my 'basics' drawers (pants, socks, pjs etc) and pare down my supplies. All surplus is being packed away (I have half a dozen brand new pairs of socks for example, and a drawer overflowing with old ones in various stages of holeyness)!

As and when things get tatty and need replacing, I'll need shop my stash, and the replacements will feel new to me after being out of sight for so long.

So pleased our CS had clothes down to a pound today, so I got three tops for the summer. I got two works tops for £20 at LTS and 11 pairs of socks for £11 at Sainbugs so that's me so far. Got to ebay a few items not needed some brand new. I threw out so many socks that weren't required and other bits and bobs.

  • Hi All,

Please may I join in?! I'm new to the MSE forum so not sure how to commit to a challenge like this - so any guidance would be appreciated!

Last year I tried a challenge like this and did OK! I rearranged my wardrobe and promised to actually wear everything I own, instead of sticking to old favourites. Can honestly say I had loads of fun trying out different outfit combos I'd never have previously thought was possible!
I came to the conclusion that my clothes are in good nick, I've easily enough for 'smart/casual work', weekend, comfy, going out, gym and even a dress that should be OK for a wedding! Personally speaking I DON'T NEED TO BUY ANY MORE CLOTHES!
Since joining the MSE forum I can definitely admit that I go shopping to make myself 'feel better' or to get an instant pick me up. Making this emotional connection has been vital - lets act on it now and get support from members here.

So......can my budget please be £100 for 2014??

    Cheers!

Hi stinkygerlinky, a cool name there!

Welcome aboard the Crazy Clothes Challenge.

I gave added you to the front page and good luck with your budget. The rules are stick to your budget you have set for your annual spend budget on clothes, shoes and accessories. Then come back on the thread to tell us of spends, no spends and bargains, easy peasy!

As for me, no spends, no pennies to spend so have to wear what I have for now.

Keep on going everyone, 10 days in, feels like a long time already to me!

Anyone do a Freedom Friday? I wore bright coral top and coral and black patterned jacket which I haven't worn that much, may as well wear them they're in the wardrobe after all.

I'm Freedom Fridaying, I've got a skirt on that I loved, got a stain on and it took me ages (it between months of it just sitting in a pile) to get the stain out.

Remembering how much I love it - I wear a dress almost every day so exploring my skirts/tops on Fridays at the moment.

My brother got engaged and hopes to get married next year (2015). Girls will probably be flower girls so wont need anything there and I'm going to make my outfit. I have a few patterns at home, so I should only need to buy zips / buttons / cotton as I have a ton of material to use up.

If that fails, I'll have a look for a CS bargain because I do not want to spend an absolute fortune on a dress that I'm only likely to wear once or twice!
