Friends of mine at uni who weren't the sharpest managed to get 2:1's by sheer hard work and perseverance.
Saying that though (personal circumstances) I've had friends who have ahd major berievements (parents dying) and still managed to get 2:1's - going through life making excuses and kicking up a stink to try explain why your performance is poor isn't going to get you very far in the real world.
If it is that easy then the system fails people who they don't give a 2.1 or first to.:beer:0 -

Right
I don't think you've got the hang of this education thing have you?
To the OP: I think it depends on what type of jobs you are applying for. In jobs related to science there is such a shortage that some employers are recruiting at lower grades. You may have to start on a slightly lower salary, but it's a foot in the door.0
