special circs does not mean you get a certain entitlement to an increased percentage.- that is wong, if exams are physically painful to sit then most certainly you should get some up marking. If you get no support in assessments you should get up marked. Very few examiners ever had problems or special cirs at uni, so they have no clue to be saying what is and what is not worthy of upmarking.

Unfortunately phil your situation would have been quite different to the OP's as coursework is an internal to the department situation until the finalised mark for the whole module is declared so v easily changed.

And unfortunately for the op universities do need to give some people fails/passes/3rds etc - if everyone got 2:i's then it would be totally meaningless.

I do love the university culture it is so stupid. If you get less than a 2.1 you are a drunk and never went to class. If the universities opened their mind a bit and saw that many people have great issues at university then they would not make such assumptions. Also, examiners that have most likely never experienced things decide how it effects your work. It is a crazy system that is completely alien to the uniqueness of person.

I'm not biting, but employers don't take much notice of 'uniqueness' either.

They're just wanting people to do what they're expected to do without any hassle, a bit like universities really.

How many companies and councils and charies are not badly run too, so just to have a go at central govt is unfair to be truthful.

Maybe if people did not make stupid assumptions about anyone with less than a 2.1 then life might be a whole lot better.

Saying stuff like less than a 2.1 you are slack, drunk, always absent, thick and generally a waster is complete rubbish filled assumptions that just serve to make people feel mad and upset and does nothing to help employers value their success.

How come employers believe all the rubbish that a third makes people stupid and drunk and useless and will only employ people with 300 UCAS points and a 2.1?

I dunno - I did next to no work and got a 2:1 from a prestigous university, maybe that has swayed my opinions but I believe either you were vvv unlucky/had really outstanding personal circumstances or didn't really work. Friends of mine at uni who weren't the sharpest managed to get 2:1's by sheer hard work and perseverance.

Saying that though (personal circumstances) I've had friends who have ahd major berievements (parents dying) and still managed to get 2:1's - going through life making excuses and kicking up a stink to try explain why your performance is poor isn't going to get you very far in the real world.

right these sweeping generalisations have got to stop now phil. I don't think you yourself really know what you are arguing for or against here. And you've taken it off topic - AGAIN.
