3rd degree, what do I do now? [Considering Appeal]

Of course a degree is worth it - but I wouldn't in general say a 3rd is. We're just trying to give the op options now that he has got a degree that many grad positions will dissmiss out of hand.0

A good degree can help you and definitely opens doors but attitude and determination are the most important things. A poor degree means some doors are initially closed but keep working hard and you will progress and doors will open up as you gain experience.
I got a good degree and it helped me because I lack a bit of confidence and so it helped me get a job, but it certainly didn't guarantee one.
The most important thing is what do you want to do?? I think others have posted this and this is the most important thing now. Your degree is over so you should be focusing all your energy on what you want to do rather than looking backwards...0 -
what do you want people to say - 'give up now, your life is over, curl up in a ball and cry'?!the_devil_made_me_do_it wrote: »It appears that much of the advice and support offered in this thread gives the impression that a degree isn't worth the paper it's written on.
If it dosen't matter what level of degree you get, why do people slave their guts out for 3 or 4 yrs??
a third isn't ideal, but it's not the end of the world either - we're trying to give some positive support rather than just saying something that will have no practical benefit to the OP.:happyhear0 -
If you are really truthfully think they have not taken into account your circumstances then most certainly kick up hell and make them do something about it. If they say the rules won't let them do things then make them write new rules.:beer:0

It does sometimes if you kick up enough hell then they might rewrite the rules.:beer:0 -

I think you may be talking complete rubbbish here, exam board rules will be the same throughout the university and to change that would be nigh on impossible. However I may be wrong here so please do give me an example of you kicking up a stink and it being successful (with something as high level as this)....0 -

I did not get support once for an in course assessment(which I should have got and they had full knowledge of) and I kicked up hell because of it and I was told at first that they would not do anything after the fact and I went on about it so much and made their lives hell until they had to do something about it. That is not changing the whole system but never accept their first no and keep at them until they do something is all I am saying.:beer:0
