Hi Dannie. I think I should continue with my existing list this week. Some items ticked off but went to the bank on Tuesday (8 mile bus ride + walk across town). Did three trips later from the old house bringing large plant pots and soil. Expected not to be able to move next day but my 'doing' mojo seems to have gone as well.

I have just emptied the fridge freezer and turned it off - freezer contents are in the large freezer (eating all meals from it until that is empty too) and the fridge bits are outside in a large lidded saucepan.

Need to get going as DS3 is having a birthday sleepover in two weeks (he's 25 going on 3) but am still trying to persuade him to swap bedrooms. Sticking point is I need him to help move the wardrobes (dip under doors) and the beds and though I am willing to do the rest, need to start with those.

So next week could be massive progress or stalemate with me doing the bits I can do.

Have a good week (soil moving is tough).

Hi mothernerd, hope you are doing okay. My weekly list went fairly well. The gardening jobs were all done. I didn't really have any difficult "soil moving" as the topsoil job was collected from a nearby border in small quantities at a time. However, all the time and fitness needed to maintain the garden(s) made me think of how difficult it may be with increasing age.

Tasks number 3 and 4 were done. No more curtains need cleaning now and no spending required for some time regarding toiletries. Lastly, the daily nutrition (i.e.broad menu plan for the day) provided some type of structure incorporating health and money saving aspects. Another unexpected bill was paid and did not manage 7 days of no spending on food groceries. Nevertheless, Jan - March 2015 being "under budget" was of help and still have some extra money left from those months.

Hi Dannie. You are doing well. I moved a tonne of topsoil and later 3 tonnes of topsoil about five years back. DS1 got stroppy with me because I asked about him moving his furniture (his gf moved out, then he followed but a year later the furniture was still taking up the biggest bedroom). I only wanted to know because DS2 was due home from university for the holidays and I was trying to arrange my delivery so that DS1 wasn't taking furniture out as DS2 was moving stuff in, with a mountain of topsoil all over the drive. As it turned out they both had bar jobs the day the delivery came and I was shovelling buckets of soil in the rain (stacked them up on the dolly truck to wheel them round the side of the house to the beds at the back) so that there would be a path through to the front door (DS1 used to sleepover if the night buses had stopped running - he only did odd 'function' bookings and was living 8 miles away).

Any way, have done some house cleaning tasks and a lot of laundry. DS3 wants to swap rooms but not until after his sleepover so I am trying to make sure we have enough bedding for 5 people and that it is all clean. DS3 does disgusting things to bedding - I have to run in and steal it when he is out of his room or it would never get changed. We have both had extra covers on over Winter so want to wash them as well but I think we have enough (had allowed for some new pillows in his birthday budget). I have six clean pillows stacked and will put pillowcases on them and do the rest this week.

Have been rather depressed the last two weeks. I am getting things done but am frustrated by how much time everything takes. I think that once I started walking, I would advance quickly but although I am making progress, it is still slow and if I do anything 'extra' (a longer walk, a difficult task) I need down time for a day or two.

I am feeling a bit better the last couple of days and scribbled down the things that were bothering me this morning, took 5 minutes to get 15 so should be thankful that I am not a gibbering wreck. So I need to keep plodding but also be kinder to myself. Half the things were other people/ organisations messing up or situations I can't do anything about and others I was doing something but frustrated because I can't do more.

So this week is more laundry, prepare the house for guests (DS3 wants to move the furniture downstairs but wait until his friends are here which doesn't help with cleaning) and do some more fun things. I did budget for a weekly bus ticket this month so may get that and do lots of runs back to the old house to collect plant pots and may have a trip or two 'out' somewhere, even if it's just to sit and watch the trees and flowers.

    Hi mothernerd,

Thanks for your message. Sorry, for the delay but I've been having a few "health difficulties". Nevertheless, your post has been "on my mind". I can relate to much of what you say concerning getting every day things done alongside health matters. I hope things continue to improve for you.

This morning I had a cycle/grocery errand which included a small distance down a canal path. It was nice seeing nature e.g. a snow goose and swans. Hope any of your outings go well.

P.S. Will post again at some point regarding my weekly tasks.

    My weekly list consists of:-

To finish my list of grocery ideas for a monthly online order and book a delivery £1 slot. Apart from that is just my routine daily menu plan. Doesn't sound much but both take a lot of consideration and effort.

Piles of clean washing everywhere (tower of freshly covered pillows at the end of my bed). Lots done outside (but not got brave enough to go up the ladder to 'fix' the leaky pipe. Oven has been cleaned (but still have worktops and floor to do). Was going to go to the SM at bargain time but may have a small delivery to avoid temptation. Should be easier tomorrow as DS3 will be going out (but bringing 3 other people back with him - hopefully they will have eaten whilst out).

Keep remembering odd errands I meant to do - Repeat Prescription? Will just keep plodding and do what I can.

I did do the online order to mainly stock up on UHT milk. A few other items (mine and somebody else) made up the £25 required spend for the £1 delivery charge. It seems like money saving and health issues clash and hence cause it to be a difficult decision-making task. Similarly, my routine daily menu plan seems too demanding; time wise and sticking to it.

Weekly tasks to do from today until the end of Saturday :-

    1) End of month diary figures for expenditure and personal challenges.
    2) Go to the local Cash and Carry for bulk kitchen rolls. These work out cheaper than supermarket ones and last quite a long time e.g. 6 big rolls £2 or 12-15 standard size ones £2-£3?
    3) Oil and clean the bicycle.
    4) Sow garden seeds and relocate potato plants discovered growing in the compost bin.
    5) Prescription to post.

Hope any list-makers do okay with their aims.

hi everyone (or anyone? :) ).

Would anyone like to join me on a weekly challenge to "get things done" ?

Since i joined mse at the start of the month, it's been great, i've done a lot of reading about things, i've joined some challenges (and not been back, sorry :o), i've done a lot of thinking about things and made a lot of lists. But, i don't think that i have actually done anything!

On top of that, i've realised that i don't have any routines for doing anything and this is means that a) i spend money because i'm not organised and b) i spend money because i'm stressed and/or depressed.

Okay, so this week's challenge starts today and ends on saturday night.

    This week i will

    do the housework
    do the washing
    do the ironing
    declutter 7 things
take one bag to the charity shop
    shred some paper everyday
do something every day to make some extra money
deal with one thing that's irritating me/draining my energy
do one thing that makes me feel good

ok, it's a short list, but i don't want to scare myself off my own challenge in the first week :rotfl: Right, i'm off to get something done

    T x

Did okay last week completing the above tasks. April, due to two unexpected bills, was over (food) budget. Nevertheless, grocery "savings" for the months January - end March inclusive helped. Also, food items not opened are now at £91 approx and the small store cupboard and fridge freezer are well stocked with opened/batch cooked recipes. Personal challenge figures were updated too.

The type of kitchen rolls purchased are for multi-purpose reasons. The smaller ones were £2.50 for 15 and seem perfect whereas the big ones are seconds i.e. the serration is incomplete or missing. However, I have cut these to size.

The bicycle job was done. Not many seeds were sown due to poor weather and the potato plants were relocated and have survived so far. Lastly, the prescription was posted.

New weekly challenge list to be posted soon as possible!
