    :o:o

Okay, day 2 failure of LTW. I need to kick my own behind - unless anyone wants to kick it for me?? (turns round to see a long queue behind me ready to take a run up :rotfl:)

I think, if I'm honest, I've just kinda hit an unlunch-related 'wall' which has suddenly displayed itself in me rebelling and buying in lunch :( I need to stop it, right now....

I know exactly what the 'wall' is about - I was only paid yesterday and already more than my whole salary has been allocated out to things we need to fund (repairing fencing, school trips, SA tax payment, the Sun holiday, etc, etc...) and then last night I realised another whack of money I'll need to find in the next few months. I think I'm fed up for feeling like a (limited) cash machine at the moment. I didn't expect (nearly) debt free to feel as tight and unliberated as being in debt was.

Plus I'm feeling well-overdue some time off (so I have booked off Friday and Monday to get out in the garden and sort out the Greenhouse, finish off the new chook run, and do some weeding if the weather hold out)

Sorry for the self-pity moment there everyone xxx

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
Shortie- I have just got in from work and am going straight back out again to an appointment. I just wanted to say that there'll be no a$$ kicking on my watch! Just lots of encouragement and support instead.
Will be back later to add more.

    Updated to here :)

Right, today I can say that I didn't manage to do breakfast at home. So I went to Tesco on the way to work and bought a pack of cereal bars. Have I failed? NO! I just spent £2.09 more than I wanted to. See, this challenge isn't about winning or failing anything, it's about a group of individuals saying that they don't want to part with any cash.

Shortie- I can completely sympathise with your thoughts re 'I didn't expect debt free to feel as tight and unliberated as being in debt was'. Seriously, when I first became debt free, I went through exactly the same thing..see the thread I posted back then https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4476739=

I am not sure why, but I think it's quite common to go through this. Maybe its to do with dreaming of how a DF life will be..life is no different apart from less money worries. I am not sure really. But all you are going to get on this thread is support, not chastising because you missed ONE LTW day. YOu can do this, I know you can. Just keep your goal in mind and post if you need help.

Aww, thanks WTBSE xxx I will definately have a read through that thread, and I hope you don't mind me saying that I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel like this. I wasn't expecting to be suddenly swamped with money but I was planning (expecting) to be able to save huge chucks of money towards building work as of this month. But instead I got caught out by my tax return (and therefore realising I have to save lots more for next year too), and other things I've been stalling on (collapsing fences for example) are suddenly bidding for my money. I know I'll get there and get a flow back but I at the moment I just feel 'flat'

But equally, if I hadn't been debt free and therefore had spare money come pay day, I would have become VERY unstuck this month, so I can see that it's also been a mahoooozive help too

  • Day 13/20 done for me! Soup and free cake!!
  • #55 12/15

this week has had a change from the cheese and biscuits theme as they have only made an appearance on Monday.

I made some chilli and garlic chicken skewers for tuesday and cooked a quiche last night, taking half today and half tomorrow. I also picked up a bag of lettuce and some baby tomatoes so have been having a little bit of side salad with my lunch.

I've been good at taking snackes in. I brought a bag of nuts and seeds from M&S for £1.50 which should do 4 - 5 lunches. I also brought two packets of tyrells habas fritas which were half price from BP as these are my fav. Again I have been splitting the packets in two so that they last two days.

I've decided to start saving a set amount for each time i take lunch in, and another smaller amount for each morning I don't buy coffee. I have been keeping a note in my diary and intend to transfer the money to a savings account each payday. It has really made a difference seeing how much I have saved.

I am going to try making some popcorn tonight and seeing whether it stays crisp enough to eat tomorrow.
  • Hi everyone

Sorry to have been awol.. had a few busy evenings. I am reporting 14\21 . I have been doing really well so far with taking lunch in, avoiding the dammed buffet table which seems to grow every evening, not buying lattes and healthy eating.

    My week so far is:
Monday - salad of mixed leaves, baby corn on the cob, radish, cucumber and tomato's, a tiny portion of cheeses, beetroot and a spoon of coleslaw
Snacks were hummus, bread sticks, tangerine and apple
Tuesday - the same as above with a cereal bar instead of apple
Wednesday - hm veg soup, bread sticks,
baby corn, radish, celery, tangerines as snacks

Not bad hey? I did have two after eights today though.. Had to have something to get through the team meeting! :rotfl:

Shortie try not to give yourself a hard time.. things will come good again.

    Nighty night xx

    #52 - Day 12/12 :j

Late up so I had no choice but my emergency tin of soup. No treats and no money to get any from the vending machine either.

I will aim for another 5 days before Jan is over.

Hope everyone is else having a good week - It's hump day :rotfl:
