    Hello Hobbitses..

I am currently cradling a tabby-cat, trying to write and watching trash on late night TV. Thought I would write a little something to say hello and groan about my bike. The alarm went off today on the bike for no reason ( although the battery could be responsible ) and I have had to get the mechanic to pick it up as it was driving the neighbours mad - although I was at a friends house and it was her neighbours...:rotfl: So I dread to think what that is going to cost! Grr!

It's been an otherwise lazy day though. It's COLD outside and tomorrow is going to be a cooking / prepping for the week as I have a busy old few days coming up.

Most importantly archery lessons start on Monday, landlord on Tuesday, a breather on Wednesday with a course away from home on Thursday and Friday.... what a week!

So cooking tomorrow - lots of soupy portions, maybe a shepherds pie (copy-cat from my friends recipe she cooked today ) and a few bits to add to my snack packs.

What a thrill I am! :rotfl:

A proper read through of messages tomorrow - so I hope you are all okay!!!

    Nighty night!

  • Good Morning!

I'm finally fighting off the sore throat and almost back to normal.

I had to go and get a few top up bits of food, but I am seriously please with how much this challenge is stopping me from buying too much. I was straight into the Supermarket for what I wanted and then straight out.
    So the figures now are:
    1. SFD 6/20
    2. Food budget 290.34/450€
    3. Brand downshift 3/5
    4. Lunch to work n/a
    5. Arranged outings 1/4
    6. Exercise 4/25
    7. Beauty spends 3.20/£10

I cancelled my outing in the evening but rearranged for lunch, which was a bit of a waste because I still felt ill.

Next week should also be quite good - I have two frozen chickens we can use, some mince and still fruit and vegetables from last week's shop.

Right, off to get on with the day - feeling poorly means that the house is now a right onld mess and I have an enormous washing pile to do :-(

Managed to get further exercise done yesterday - was out visiting a friend (doesn't count as part of this challenge as I went to her house so we could both save money!) and I missed the bus from outside her house so walked for fifteen minutes until the next bus showed up. I got my exercise done and didn't have to stand around at 11pm in a dodgy part of town either

    Hoping for another SFD today.

Have had a discussion with DD about her trips away and we have decided she can go on the £20 trip but she will need to earn £10 of the money herself. As she is only 10 she will essentially be doing jobs for us to earn it but it is a step in the right direction for her to learn about the cost of things.

Need to call at Next today to pick up a directory order but won't count that until I decide what is being kept and it goes on the statement. I don't owe them anything and would normally have ordered £300-400 worth of stuff but only ordered £90 and some of it was for choice. All the items are for me from their tall range which they don't stock in any stores (near me anyway) and I really need the extra length on arms and the body as I am tall.

Have a gammon joint in the slow cooker just need to do the veg and have a crumble and custard for pudding.

I will be trying Lidl for groceries this week, does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Planning on a spend free day today, because it's Sunday and I don't plan on doing much, but also because going to Morries yesterday for a few bits turned into doing the rest of the month's shopping!

I did manage to brand down shift though. Tissues, pasta bake sauce, chick peas and lemonade. I managed to get the few 'treats' I wanted to. I say treats, but they were vegetarian hotdog sausages and potato crunchies.

Kat on the lentils front, I managed to get 5kg of red lentils for £2.69. Now all I need to do is eat lentils for the next year, lol! I'm going to be making that houmus you suggested too!

I'm almost maxed out on my food budget but a lot of the stuff I got will last me a good two or three months, if not longer.

Also bought my train tickets for going to Devon on Friday yesterday. Got to try and plan a different route to Paddington though. I normally get the train from my local station, but there are train works on the return journey which means I can't park at the 24hr car park. Thinking cap on for that one to make it the most cost effective.

I was going to do ls of batch cooking today but as I now have the week off, there is little point because I won't be able to eat it all, and I don't have a lot of space in the freezer. Not a real problem though because nothing will go off before next week.

I am going to make some cookies at some point though to take to Devon with me.

No exercise today, my planned days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

    Good morning,

Today should be SFD number 8. DS came down with a fever last night, so I think we won't be going anywhere as he is really lethargic. Scobby doo watchathon me thinks. We were meant to go to a kids party and then have friends round for coffee, both of which will probably be cancelled.
finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)

  • Good afternoon,

Afternoon of planning - we have mocksted (not real, hence the name) on Thurs/Fri so a bit scared about that. have decided to treat it like real 'sted - i wouldn't know what lesson they're coming to so i should do them all normally. the kids would only rat if i tried to do loads of different things anyway.

i spent on Friday on takeaway and petrol. (cheeky takeaway to cheer a friend who's had some bad news - companies moaning that her deceased for 3 months mother is behind with her mobile contract which they'd cancelled. heartless companies) and yesterday on a birthday present for a friend (who's birthday is in Feb) which was half price - a stitch in time saves 9 etc etc.

getting back on the wagon with skinny rules but work is making that harder. there's little i want more after work than chips!

claiming an NSD today for 6/20.

    wishing you all well :)
