Very pleased to report a NSD today. I returned some crisps to Mr T's (they must be sick of me by now) long story about why but I got my 90p back and then spent 60p of it at Wilko's on a vinegar bottle. So we are 30p up today.

We did however have several NPI's. DH wanted a fleece trapper hat for work which was reduced to £4 and we both wanted some lovely looking chocolates for £5 normally £10 and some Christmas baubles for 50p. We walked away with out heads held high.

Have a lovely Saturday evening everyone.

I've done a bit of walking today but not enough to count as exercise yet! If I do more later I'll count it, but it's awfy chilly here :D Chuffed with my NSD, especially as I had to go to the bank (in a shopping centre) to deposit a cheque.

We're having chicken and chorizo gratin for tea tonight - the third day of meals from a teeny chicken I cooked in the slow cooker on Thursday. The recipe calls for 400g of chicken breast, but we're having 110g of leftovers :D It doesn't need that much anyway!

    Evening all,

Spendy day today, went to Ald!s for main food (but there were many empty shelves!), Pets at Home for dog food and Co-op for everything Ald1 didn't have. My food budget is now nearly spent but being as I bought most of the Christmas food with January's budget and I'm eating much healthier food, so I'm not surprised. I have a small contingency fund, so will be using this until the end of the month, but I'm a little disappointed, and must do better next month.

Today, I have also paid out for entering a 10k race!! and a deposit for a hen do. I am going to have to reduce my personal spends for the next few months to accommodate a saving plan for the hen do, as the balance needs paying at the same time as my ccard runs out of being 0%. I would have turned it down, as I don't feel I can afford it, but I am part of the wedding party so I don't have an option. But it should be a lovely weekend.

Went to the gym this morning and ran 5k :) This is a new record for me, so I'm really pleased. I also had a quick swim and did a few weights, then this afternoon I walked the dogs for an hour. Exercise is definitely done for the day, and I think I'll be in bed shortly after dinner.

Last night my money from temping came through, which was brilliant. The amount it knocked off my debt was much lower than forecast as I had to put aside money for tax, even though I won't have to do a tax return until this time next year, and I had to have two new tyres last week. On the positive side, the debt is still going in the right direction :)

    Hugs to all

A few spends today. Did the weekly shop and also got toiletries that were needed including handwash, shower gel, toothpaste and mouthwash so that should be us for a few weeks.

Everyone seems to be doing well and fired up with New Year enthusiasm.

Hugs to those who are feeling under the weather and to those facing redundancy. Hoping to check in a bit more regularly next week as this was my first week back at school (like many of you but I am admin not a teacher) and it was fairly hectic.

No spends today, but no exercise other than a little walk with dh, during which we had a ‘debate’ about whether we are being too extreme in the repayments and if it’s impacting on our relationship and mental health too much. I said that if it were up to me alone we would be living off gruel, wearing rags and not going anywhere or buying anything until we were all paid off, but because of his (balancing) influence I think we have struck a middle ground where we still have the occasional treat (still cut price!). I do think his motivation to have less austerity comes from his guilt about the debt being mostly his, but I just want the debt gone asap. But I do recognise we have to have some kind of life where we can. Begrudgingly!

  • Checking in on day 11, still struggling to stay on budget in the midst of the January sales.... Aldi had some great offers on Xmas stuff today but was strong and restricted myself to a few bits and bobs ...the urge to splurge on very cheap sweet stuff was
strong as we both have a very sweet tooth but the thought of a Home Made/Home Grown Rhubarb and Strawberry defrosting for tea at home kept us strong and on track

Lovely treat today - DH paid for a hairdo for me as my Christmas pressie so I have been to the salon for highlights and a trim - a great morale boost but entailed the subsequent purchase of hair mousse over budget but still £6 to go on my budget.

Need to get my act together and get my food bank donation organised this week so I can tic that off my list

  • So today did become a SD had to pay for parking at the party only £1 for 2 hours so not expensive, also needed a loaf and had forgot to take anything out of freezer for tea so ended up at !@celand to buy pizza and chips for everyone  but pre MSE that would have been a take out so much better.

Will be a spend day tomorrow as food shopping day, meal plan will be done and shopping list will be stuck to, shouldn't be a big shop as still have a few meals in freezer.

Had to buy petrol today as drove 300 miles, but kept to 60 mph and drove as MSE as I could.

Bit miffed with DH. I did a full shop in Ald1 yesterday and he decided to pop into Mr M today and ended up buying things I'd already bought.... AND, who buys ready made crumble topping??? Honestly! ;-)

Can't moan too much though, he's been a star with 3 NSDs this week and our combined spend today did stay under our daily limit.
