Sandycheeks I fancy a slowcooker, are they expensive to run I wonder. Seen one in morrisons for 15 pounds.

I love mine too especially in winter or when we have guests (we got a big one, that'll easily feed more than 8 or the freezer). Apparently they only use the energy of a lightbulb at the low setting, so much more economical then even haven the oven on for two hours if you use them for a roast for instance. I make leg of lamb, goulash, Ragu, lamb tagine, sticky ribs and loads of other things in it. It's great to come home to a cooked meal especially on busy days in winter.

Today should be SFD number 7 and rather uneventful. Apple Muncher, I know what you mean by that being the time of the month where not much can be done in terms of this challenge apart from just not spending money :p

Just reporting in another SFD bit late oops 6/20

Today won't be off out for a meal tonight, budgeted for and even found a nice restaurant 3 courses and glass of wine for 17 pounds.

Sandycheeks I fancy a slowcooker, are they expensive to run I wonder. Seen one in morrisons for 15 pounds. Need to buy some food first this weekend unless I can last till Monday - Kat and her challenges if I get snowed in with no food in, all her fault trying to earn another SFD lol

    Have a great weekend folks.

Slow cookers are sooo cheap to run and so easy. Chuck it all in and turn it on. The OS board has loads of recipes. I am doing pulled pork on sunday so will be chucking some pork and cider in overnight!

    Hullo

MrsGSR Sorry to hear you are not sleeping well :( lack of sleep can play havoc with our moods and also compounds depression. Hope you will catch up with your sleep a little today and feel better for it. Hope the GP will help with a way of managing your symptoms when you visit on Monday.

Well, my smartphone has been on charge for over 14 hours now and the battery indicator shows its barely half charged :( It depletes so quickly nowadays and each time it gets to a 'critical level' the charging capacity reduces further. If I switch to my back up phone that has no internet facility, it means I wont be able to keep tabs on you all :p I keep holding off buying a new one (£75 sim free) but I know I will have to eventually..

I am planning on having a leisurely morning and afternoon.. and I may even squeeze a bit of exercise in! Ive been thinking hard about what kind of exercise I would like to participate in. I did lots of stuff like athletics, judo and hockey when I was younger but haven't found anything that I get really excited about! :p I will think more..

Stewby I don't want to do night shifts either! Why dont I do day shifts on a Scottish ward and you do shifts tearing the streets at night? :T Sounds like a plan to me! :D

    See yous later

Thanks Sandycheeks, will take the plunge over the weekend if my budget allows. Tend to make lots of hot pots this time of year, so sounds scrummy.

    Good day to everyone :)

Well my 'clean eating' will have to go out of the window this week, I have £12 to spend on food so it'll be whatever's in the reduced section/kitchen cupboards! I won't update until later coz I have to pop to m*rrisons/tresco so we're looking at a spendy day (food)

I'm going to do bacon and eggs for lunch and I've a tuna steak I'll have before work then I shouldn't need to eat much when I'm home at midnight!

There's a new pound shop opened in an old amusement arcade on the seafront so I'll have a pop down there to see if they have food there!

I'll let you know how I get on, I like a challenge...what can you buy with £12 to see you through the week! :)

Right, back from the shops! I spent a grand total of.... £12.86!!!

I went to the £1 shop and spent £4 in there on:
2x multipacks of crisps (11 bags in total)
1 pack of brand name caramel wafers (5 in a pack)
1 pack of toffee biscuits with 100% extra free

    In M*rrisons I spent £8.86 on:
    YS pork pies
    YS yoghurts x2
    YS coleslaw (big tub)
    OB butter
    OB tin of soup
    Value choc mousses x6
    1/2 cucumber
    Small tiger loaf
Big pack of wafer thin ham
    3 bananas
    Pot of hummus!

I know it's not all that healthy and not good for my IBS but there was no cheap meat or fish which is what I eat normally :( still I'm pleased I managed to get all that and only be 86p over budget!

So the plan is, ham, salad and coleslaw sarnies, crisps, biscuit for lunches, still got a bit of meat in the freezer for dinners and frozen peas, tinned plum tomatoes, pork pies and yoghurts and bananas for snacks. It will last me until next Thursday which is when I get paid again.

So a quarter of your tight food budget that needs to last a week was spend on treats in the pound shop? Those £4 could have bought some frozen meat/fish, bacon and tatties or similar. Sorry, don't want to sound harsh, but........;)

    1. SFD 4/20
    2. Food budget £44.57/£200
    3. Brand downshift 1/5
    4. Lunch to work 4/11 (projected days in the office this month)
    5. Arranged outings 2/4
    6. Exercise 7/15
    7. Petrol budget £30/£50
    8. Food bank donation 0
    9. Beauty spends 0/£10

Spendy day today but bought enough food to do my meal plan until next Sunday for the grand total of £17.20 so should only need bread, milk and fruit until then. I put £30 of fuel in the car too and that should do us a couple of weeks as we don't use it that often.
