  • L2B reporting in for duty and hanging head in shame. I was on SFD 5 yesterday. Sat playing on my new tablet and ordered a protective case for it. Logged off went to bed. Then realised this morning that I had ruined my sfd without even thinking about it!
Item has already been sent so I can't just cancel but I did actually need a case to protect said tablet from dangerous little fingers. So will look at it as an investment and will switch off one click ordering!

Today I will carry on with my house blitz and keep buulding my clothing bag that is to go to the cash for cloth man.

  • Hi NSK,

I have just stumbled across this new thread and reading it almost made me cry. You are so fabulous. Love you xxx

Please sign me up. I REALLY need to get those SFD going again and definitely my Food budget. Its so easy to forget to do this, but it also helps my stress levels, as there's nothing worse than thinking you will make X for dinner and then realising you don't have all the ingredients. This never happens if I do a menu plan.

Got to hit this debt hard this year. I have procrastinated about if for nearly two years and its getting boring now. I have a good feeling about 2014.

    Hi!!!

Worked all day yesterday and almost left the house and thought 'stuff it - i'll buy lunch' but then clawed back my willpower, and chucked a lump of cheese in with some nuts and celery et voila!

    As a result my SFD = 4

Day off today so going to try and be a bit productive!!!

  • Missed a SFD yesterday as I had to buy a tin of tomatoes and a battery that I had forgotten in the previous shopping expedition, but at least I down shifted a brand!

    So the figures now are:
    1. SFD 4/20
    2. Food budget 213.87/450€
    3. Brand downshift 1/5

Hi everyone! An early post for me, I’m planning on getting work done and not procrastinating on here but I did finally catch up on the thread!

So far this month I am on:

    Food: £81.16/£200
    Misc: £57.71/£60
    Spends: £58.23/£100
    Drop brands: 3/5
    Food bank: £0/£5
Beauty: £5.5/10 (but got some nice stuff for my birthday AFTER I spent this, could’ve avoided most of it!!)
    Diesel: £56.50/200
    Outings:2/5
Exercise: 5/25 (am including this eve prematurely…!)
    NSDs: 4/20

However, a total of 197.49 has been added to my credit card to pay for poorly bunny so far… Plus an extra £90 pulled together from our ‘misc’ budget, my spends and OH. Argh! So that doesn’t come from any of the budgets, it’s just an additional bit of debt . I’m intending to have a savings/reserve money pot, but things keep happening to eat it up- last month I reversed into someone’s car and scratched the side, and rather than doing it on insurance and putting my premium up by £700 I’m paying for it- but that means there’s £372 sitting in an account waiting for the car owner to get it done! Obviously, I ought to have had an emergency fund before but I foolishly didn’t, and since LBM things keep stopping me getting it well-stocked!! I may also pay a bit extra to protect my no claims this year...

Today will be a minorly spendy day as need to get some more fresh bunny food, but on the upside I’m also getting a free haircut at the hands of a trainee! Hopefully Thurs and Fri will be SFDs...

TiptoesDB – I would definitely look into getting kitty insured if you can, it’s a few quid a month but well worth it if something *else* goes wrong. Ask your vet what will be excluded if you do, and what to look out for in policies as some are a lot better than others. I have a friend with an epileptic dog and one with a cat that is allergic to everything, and they’ve made their premiums back tenfold from ongoing medication and tests.
Of course, my poorly bunny isn’t insured, as at the time I got her I was working at a vets and got discount so everything including xrays etc was cost price… And when I got round to looking into it she was too old to insure for the first time! Bunny number two is insured as I got him more recently and of course he is super healthy!!

Clippy_girl – running shoes are pricey but sooo comfy! Sure you won’t regret getting them!

RainbowBridgeReturns – date nights are great! We’re losing weight for our wedding at the mo, so are trying to have alcohol free date nights but since Christmas and my birthday re-stocked our wine rack, perhaps not…

NSK - Like the pic of Mog!

Off to do some work now, apologies for the super-long post!

  • Sorry not been on here for a couple of days, been busy back at work Ds2 back to school, took me ages to catch up on the thread don't like to post without reading how everyone is getting on.

Had a couple of spendy days Sunday was food shopping day, Monday was doing really well then needed to taxi DD and DS1 but hadn't got enough fuel had planned on filling up yesterday but had to break a NSD to fill car :-(

Yesterday was a planned spendy day as had to take DS2 for hospital check up in middle of Birmingham so no free parking available so had to pay for parking and treated him to McD as the car park was next door, didn't need to spend anything else.

Today is a work day so should be a SFD.

Lunches have been bought into work and fruit so hopefully a healthy day as well.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Love how quick this thread is moving, we are all doing so well :-)

Morning all, managed another SFD yesterday and hoping for one today too, my update is:

SFD 4/20 - today I have paid the deposit on our holiday (£25) but it's coming out of money my brother is giving me so I'm not counting it. Going to a free classical concert at lunchtime so no shops.
    Food £131.92/£200
Brand Downshift 0/5 - will have to have a think about this as we already buy a lot of the value range.
    Food Bank £0/£3
    Exercise 3/15

    Hope everyone has lovely days.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Right so shopping done and food bank and downshift.
Shopping was £45.76 for the week, this included about a months worth of nappies though! Foodbank was £3.50, I checked what they needed most before buying and got toiletries, milk powder and cereal bars.
Brand downshift was most of my shopping but 5 in particular were flour, mozzerella cheese, onions, pears and salami.
    Will update signature.

  • I've just been fiddling around with my finances.
I'm setting a goal of paying off 8,612 € by the end of the year.
Minimum payments will take care of some of that, but I'm going to try and start thinking in terms of needing to save 720 per month to reach this amount by the end of the year and I'm going to be transferring that amount to a separate account.
    Seriously money saving
