  • GOOD MORNING!!!! ..... clearly someone didn't warn me the looking after a 2 year old means no down time - after play-dough, matching games, a bath ( him not me), drawing lots of circles, sticking stickers on things, throwing things at the cat, riding on a stuffed camel upside down ( the camel not him ) and successfully forcing him to clean the chimney I was whacked...

So now I sit down to read a multitude of postings - LOVE IT!

Morning everyone... Sorry for my absence - been having a few computer problems... If I can keep this one limping through until March I should be getting a second hand (but better) one...

Hope you're all doing ok - will catch up on posts later tonight...

    I've updated my signature...

    SFD = 3 at present.

My debt dropped below the 6K mark this month which is good news but since my increased payments, I'm feeling the pinch not having the luxury of back up money!!! OMG - this will mean I HAVE to stay on budget!!! lol.

Laters everyone! Sounds very windy out there today...

  • Morning. I seem to have lost my last post, so will try again. Currently on sfd 4. Today won't be one as I need to do a food shop today. Meal plan and list is written and aiming to go to @ldi for the shop. Forgot to budget for eldest's swimming lessons so will have to take it out food budget till oh gets paid in 10 days. Disappointed with myself. However it means that I will be more frugal with the food budget. Completed another bit of exercise yesterday, took the kids for a walk had coffee and a really good natter at my friend's house (which decluttered both our heads) and then a walk back with a screaming toddler which slowed us down a little.
Started flylady cleaning again at the weekend.....time to get organised. Have a good day guys. L2B.x

Well now - I have finally caught up! I am aware that where I sit at work is in direct line of sight of anyone who chooses to walk past so I shall be quick with this for now.

Billy-Jo, Catriona79, EmilyTee and Happybunny86 you all have numbers and may I apologise if you are in a different order, were overlooked, were named but no numbered and not welcomes be me! So HELLO! Please post where you are with your savings, a little about you, your debt amounts, and when you want to be debt free by - then join the madness! :T
EyesWideOpen There is definitely something to be said about post achievement mental and physical exhaustion or burn out. I think thats why I have no energy or enthusiasm for socialising or exercise at the moment.. After putting so much into debt busting, penny pinching, not spending or socialising as much, it feels like I cant take anymore on board until the debt is completely gone
I think this quote was from Pheonix (apologies if I got this wrong).. this is how I feel. I got to bed at 0100 last night and up at 0500 - faffed around getting clothing to do for the day PLUS the archery lesson tonight, food for the entire day so I can avoid shops, my gym kit and a suitable coat .... I just want to sleep! :(

Moomin what you mentioned about different ways of debt busing was something I spoke to a friend about last week. I am mentally prepared and somewhat desperate to have my savings account grow by £1000 a month - it won't be touched. My friend on the other hand says she wants to save as well but it's too much tempation to buy something online if she had that money going in to her account or just sat there. She really wants to save so will be withdrawing £400 a month and stuffing in socks and crevices around her room until she has about £2000 and then she will deposit it... that would be my idea of hell...:rotfl:

Lynneee - Is you Mr Morries discount enough to make a significant saving each month..?

Crazylady - how did you manage to feed 10 people for £5. I am intrigued!!!

MoneyMash - I agreed, money for bus fare to do a shop should not come from the food budget - do you have a misc fund?

LyndsayGalaxy - nothing grates on me more than alcohol drinks assuming that we non drinkers are happy to split bills - and I am a vegetarian. My friends are good like this but I am not in a place ( after it happened once ) that I will quietly slip away and pay my bill myself or tell the waitress I am paying seperatly. If challenged I have no problem speaking up now - were you with friends or colleagues ( who are worse sometimes)... Whats the plan next time - would you be more "Uh no thanks"...

Abundant - CONGRATUALTIONS for getting under £6k.. this is superb news! And yes put off getting that new laptop!!

I personally do not want to see a picture of purple soup! :rotfl:

    NSK Exciting things

I am off to my archery taster session tonight.:T:T But I finish at 3pm and it starts at 7.30pm. I have brought my gym kit and I am determined to do something in our horrible tiny little gym at work.

Landlady is off on holiday tomorrow FOR TWO WEEKS!!! I am going to sit glued to TLC and watch every Extreme CheapSkate and Extreme Couponer going!!!

Joblot of books sold on eBay for £36 - gutted as they are semi-expensive Burlesque ones although a few were off ebay and a few were gifts but were bought by someone who is clearly running a business despite how many people contacted me interested they didn't bit high enough. Although I do just want rid of them now. And 20 people watching another listing ending in 3 days. 1 bid already.

Seems like there is a lot of talk about Amazon - I used the book trade in as the selling side of things didn't guarantee a buyer. I wanted space so took the option that let me get rid of them asap. Excellent service, never any problems, money earned was around £200 but novels don't do so well - it was my bigger books, coffee table books, weird old books and those in very good condition that earned money. Whoever has loads why not a joblot listing on eBay - sometimes second hand book stops will buy them?

Anyone else say in their office freezing to death, listening to the rain outside wondering how warm their bed might be right no? :rotfl:

Didn't get to see the new landlord tomorrow so will hopefully arrange something for Wednesday. I just want to get it done now!

Right bits of work to do - sorry if I have missed anyone's questions but to clarify - any down-shift counts including fizzy water, and any exercise counts including lifting heavy boxes for hours...:T:T:T

Things I am grateful for - my friend who lets me look after her GORGEOUS little boy, my health and the fact that when I choose to get up in the morning I can, my job that pays my bills and is paving the way for an experiance of a lifetime, my Mummy - the ultimate penny-pincher who I know is reading this and I am grateful to have so many amazing Hobbitses in my life...

Thanks Kat, I'll count work as last weeks then ;)
I'm still recovering from it, covered in bruises and full of aches!
In my 24p onesie today, tidying up and getting sorted for the week. Got toys to go through and stuff to list on fleabay. Decided that all my clothes this year will either be from fleabay or charity shops, DH is also going to do the same but he sees it as being too poor to buy clothes where as I see it as getting what you want for even cheaper than sales!

  • Morning. What a difference a little bit of sunshine has made to my morning.
Although it's still a bit overcast, there's a little bit of sun poking it's head through and I feel totally different.
I'm off into town this morning to do some mystery shopping and will earn £10 for this. I intend parking the car near the park and will walk round the lake before going into town. I'll do the same walk on the way back to the car too, so by the end of today I will be able to add something to my signature for the exercise. I've got a lot of weight to lose and tackling the food side of things BUT I'm such a lazy moo. I have to admit it. Years ago, I used to live in Brighton and I used to jog ever morning but I can make every excuse in the book to avoid it now - I'm too heavy/my knees and back hurt/it's too hot/it's too cold blah, blah, blah.
Today is the day that I make my start and I'm not going to make any excuses. I'm not even going to give myself the chance to come up with a reason why I don't feel like it, I'm just going to shut the noise in my head up and get on with it. So that's that.
I am going to confess now that I'm going to buy some jog bottoms, as I don't really want to be exercising in jeans but I'm going to take this out of the food budget.
I'll let you know how it goes and will update my signature tonight with some exercise added.

Hi everyone! I've not been on here for a couple of days and suddenly there are 23 pages of posts!!

So, NSD 2 and exercise 2 to report. :) There was a cheeky pub outing on Saturday for my birthday, but I knew that was happening and I actually didn't spend a penny of my own cash thanks to my lovely generous OH and friends all insisting on keeping me in (far too much) alcohol for the evening.

Poorly bunny is improving, and seems delighted that she's indoors for a bit as it means that she can harass us for treats by looking cute/hopeful every time we walk past her temporary cage in the dining room. Her friend is less chuffed as he is only coming in for a bit each day to keep her company when they can have supervised freedom in the house - no space in the temporary accommodation for them both to be indoors all the time, and unsupervised freedom would probably result in electrocution or floorboard chewing!

Now back on the diet and Janus wagon properly, and back at work properly too (boo hiss), as I suspect many of you are! My brain is having a hard time adjusting to focussing on stuff for more than ten minutes at a time at the moment, so I might go for an hourly five minute catch-up on the thread to give my brain a break and to get up to speed with everyone here!

    Good morning all

Am trying to have a high protein diet to try and correct some hair loss issues so any recommendations for frugal high protein foods would be good.

    Morning everyone!

I still seem to have the remnants of some sort of belly bug-can't seem to shift it  Other than that, the day has started good:D As my little one has an inset day today, i'm not back to work till tomorrow. I got up and done some batch cooking for the week and am baking cup cakes, to make up for the lack of biscuits for this month. As I have decluttered most of the house, housework is at a minimum and I'm going to try really hard to keep this going!

I've decided that my exercise days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday on top of my daily walk to the train station and work (approx 40 mins combined each day). Today will definitely be a SFD :D

Tomorrow will be strange at work, as our manger has changed, so not sure what to expect. But regardless, I aim to be more focused this year :).

Good luck everyone and keep going :T
